I see thanks. I have an idea for voice software for waifubots. There is already an opensauce TTS system out there from Carnegie Mellon I've been playing around with. If this UTAU software is open then we could probably have it in the audio output stream to make waifus talk with it.

UTAU is freeware, but not open. If you're looking for open source alternatives, there's Rocaloid, Candencii, and Sinsy.

I'm not sure if Rocaloid and Candencii can be used stand-alone or just as a front-end to other synthesizers, but I just found out about a free software singing synthesis system that can be used with Cadencii:

The other VIPPALOIDs would be a place to start(Namine Ritsu, Sukone Tei, Ouka Miko, etc…)
Utane Uta(Defoko) if you like robotic vocals.
If you don't mind whispery vocals, you might like Sekka Yufu and Momone Momo.
Haruka Nana has a childish but nice, strong voice.
Konuko(producer) made some really good covers with Gahata Meiji, Akesato and others.
Yamine Renri has some really well tuned and emotional songs.
Sakane Cecil, Annai Nyui, Amaga Elu and Ouka Alice also has a few good songs/covers.
