Math like algebra and complicated stuff. usually I can pull non-complex stuff fairly easy. in digital card games the damage and other numbers are keep by the AI and in paper we usually have counters for that kind of stuff. like a sheet to keep record of all movements, scoring or damage done in the last turn.

you mean like the probability of making a crit twice in a row? well that is something usually taken by the luck side. one thing you learn in card games is that your strategy will never be perfect and it's always bound to some luck. the idea in many games during deck building is to reduce those chances by either adding more draw cards or maybe some useful effect to slow down the game (at least enough until you can do your play). measure risks and reading the opponent are more relevant skills in game.

Oh, I see. No, we weren't playing Constructed, which is what both of those things are. We were playing draft, which is Limited. In constructed, you bring a deck you already built and play them, in limited you open booster packs and build decks out of them, then play them against each other. We did the latter.

Well, it isn't overly cheap, but it's not so bad. Fifteen bucks for an evening of entertainment isn't out of the realm of reason, if you ask me. You don't just play a single game, you usually play three rounds of Swiss pairings, with each round being a best of 3. I didn't lose any games, so my final record was 3-0 in matches and 6-0 in games.
