I don't know if this is universal, but the law of evidence here stipulates that when you raise a statement, you bear an evidential burden of proof, ie you need to produce some evidence which supports your statement. You don't need to prove it, just raise some evidence. Then the burden is on the opposing party to either disprove it or prove that their statement is stronger.
If a statement is raised without any supporting evidence, it runs the risk of being countered with a "no case to answer" submission, ie you have not tried to prove your point and so your case has no merits and should not even be heard. I've actually used this in my sole criminal case. I won't say any more though because that's an ongoing matter.
I've watered down the rules to the point that my evidence teacher would probably slap me silly if he read this.

A coder friend and I are intend on delving in the documentation, but we haven't had a chance yet. From what I understand right now it is largely automated (i.e., activate-and-play), but it requires a server people can log into. That last bit might be an issue.
Gameplaywise it is roleplay driven iirc. The lawyer-players have to make arguments and convince a jury of players they are in the right.
