I just really like watching people play Souls. I showed DaS to my Doctor friend one time when he was over. He then tried playing it at home and next time we met he told me about his adventure and I was having the time of my life hearing him describe what he did and where he went. We regularly talk about Souls and he's interested in it even though he doesn't have the time to play and has only faint knowledge on it and prefers zombie games. Then this other time, we played DeS with him and a bunch of friends when they were over We used to get together to play Fight Night Round 4/Champion and it was a blast to watch people try the game for the first time, but it's not just watching newcomers. I enjoy watching experienced players too. I've seen a bunch of let's plays on Youtube, even watched the Soulsgiving (playing Souls for charity) twitch stream event. I've probably watched people play the game as many hours as I have played it myself.

I started Dark Souls when some friends were over, and we created a Pyromancer character together and had fun laughing at me getting killed by skeletons in the graveyard constantly. Unfortunately, real life obligations have kept us from meeting often, so I'll just have to finish the game by myself.

I was actually asked this question recently: Why would I watch a video on youtube instead of just playing the game?

I have two reasons for watching games on youtube. The first reason relates to games I do play, such as fighting games. I watch to learn something, whether it's a combo or how more advanced players play the game, or in the case of older games, to learn technical information or something to do with the game's development.

The second reason is to assess a game I may be interested in purchasing. Time is limited and I don't have the time or real interest to play many games these days, so I just watch some footage and decide whether a game is worth picking up, and if it isn't worth a play, to see if it is it even worth following further in a let's play. Spoiler: most games just don't interest me these days.

Small gaming communities are the best. You probably haven't seen the chat window on big streams or the comments section on popular youtubers, but most importantly it's about watching someone you care about playing and not a random person. Back in the day I managed to catch two Souls channels in their infancy and when there were just like 50 - 100 of us we had the best discussions and the comments section was a thing of wonder. I play on 360, I didn't have the DLC until earlier this year and I had been pretty burnt out on gaming at the time. I have lots of characters but I still play my first dude most.

I got up to like NG+4 with my main Char too. I agree, starting a new one might be best. The problem with NG+ is that you spend all this time building your character in NG and it feels like it's been for nothing when you are suddenly in NG+ and so much weaker. NG+ is more about using your favorite gear from the start of the game, but it feels like a let down, when you are in NG+4 or 5 and ordinary hollows one shot you. At least in my case because my main chars are always Artorias builds where I almost ignore the HP stat and pump STR, DEX, INT, Faith up to 50. Except in DaS3 because I don't really need INT, Faith for the Artorias gear in that one, but I'll probably try to level up to soft cap those eventually, because I like having an "universal character" that can use any gear/weapon. Then I just exploit that aspect on the character in NG+

Usually the natural resistance I get from leveling is enough to compensate for HP, but that disappears with each New Game+ cycle and at NG+4 low HP become a problem.

What I liked about DaS 2 is exactly how it handled HP, because I got some from leveling any stats and that was more than enough. I completed the game on NG with just 5 points in Vigor, then I bumped it up to 8 to complete NG+. I think DaS 2 handled HP best in the series.

I think something is wrong with my brain. My punctuation has gotten more and more awkward and the typos are off the charts lately.

I should mention that I don't like long lifebars strictly because Autism. I just don't like them taking space on my screen, but I'm not good enough to turn the HUD completely off. Eh, I need those point in other stats anyway. I did a GiantDad build once, it was fun, but I was R1ing everything to death and completed the game in 11 hours taking my time and not skipping anything. I wouldn't recommend it for a first time build.

I really like the stone Armor, I think it looks really cool. Only drawback to it and the Shadow Set is that I like keeping my character in body form, so that I see his face and not beef jerky from the helmets' eye slit. Again Autism.

No, the game pretty much gives you loads of gold and packs. I think I got like 40 packs by just opening an account. gold for another 10 packs and a few tickets for draft by doing the tutorial and some of the missions of the story mode.
