Deutsche Bank Markets Stakes in Credit Suisse’s Greensill Funds
Deutsche Bank AG is acting as a broker for some investors who are keen to sell their holdings in Credit Suisse Group AG’s supply-chain funds that bought products from Greensill Capital, according to people familiar with the matter.
The German bank has contacted hedge funds and investment firms to gauge interest for a deal, the people said, declining to be identified because the information is private. It’s unclear how many investors are looking to sell and at what price.
Representatives for Deutsche Bank, Greensill Capital and Credit Suisse declined to comment.
Credit Suisse started liquidating $10 billion of funds earlier this month after insurance covering some of the debt packaged by Greensill lapsed. The funds held in cash about one third of the total will be distributed to investors, but the bank is exploring options for the remaining assets, Credit Suisse said on March 3.
The funds have a large exposure to receivables of GFG Alliance, a private metal group owned by Sanjeev Gupta. GFG said in February it was at risk of insolvency if Greensill stopped funding its businesses.

Blinken and Austin are scheduled to visit South Korea after their stay in Japan. Department of Justice Issues Statement Regarding Decision in Skyworks v. CDC
Brian M. Boynton, Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division of the Department of Justice, released the following statement:
"The CDC’s eviction moratorium—which Congress extended last December and the CDC later extended through March 31, 2021—protects many renters who cannot make their monthly payments due to job loss or health care expenses. By preventing people from becoming homeless or having to move into more-crowded housing, the moratorium helps to slow the spread of COVID-19.
The Department of Justice respectfully disagrees with the March 10 decision of the district court in Skyworks v. CDC concluding that the moratorium exceeds CDC’s statutory authority to protect public health. In the Department’s view, that decision conflicts with the text of the statute, Congress’s ratification of the moratorium, and the rulings of other courts.
In any event, the decision applies only to the particular plaintiffs in that case. It does not prohibit the application of the CDC’s eviction moratorium to other parties. For other landlords who rent to covered persons, the CDC’s eviction moratorium remains in effect."

Tech Executive Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud and Money Laundering in Connection with PPP Loans
A Washington man pleaded guilty today to wire fraud and money laundering in connection with his scheme to obtain over $5.5 million in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans and laundering the proceeds.
Mukund Mohan, 48, of Clyde Hill, was charged in July 2020. According to the plea agreement and other records filed in the case, Mohan submitted at least eight fraudulent PPP loan applications on behalf of six different companies to federally insured financial institutions. In support of the fraudulent loan applications, Mohan made numerous false and misleading statements about the companies’ respective business operations and payroll expenses.
In support of the fraudulent loan applications, Mohan submitted fake and altered documents, including fake federal tax filings and altered incorporation documents. For example, Mohan misrepresented to a lender that, in 2019, his company Mahenjo Inc. had dozens of employees and paid millions of dollars in employee wages and payroll taxes. In support of Mahenjo’s loan application, Mohan submitted incorporation documents showing that he incorporated the company in 2018 and filed federal unemployment tax forms for 2019. In truth, Mohan purchased Mahenjo on the Internet in May 2020 and, at time he purchased the company, it had no employees and no business activity. The incorporation documents he submitted to the lender were altered and the federal tax filings he submitted were fake….

Florida Ring doorbell camera catches terrifying deadly plane crash in neighborhood
A small plane crashed into a car traveling on a Florida street Monday before skidding and bursting into flames, killing the two people inside the aircraft, according to reports. The pilot and a passenger in the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza died and an adult and child inside the vehicle were injured, the Miami Herald reported. The identities of the pair killed were not released.
The plane crashed in Pembroke Pines, 25 miles north of Miami, shortly after taking off around 3 p.m. from the North Perry Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. The cause of the crash has not been determined and is being investigated. A video taken from a Ring security camera in a nearby home captured the crash. The footage shows the plane crashing nose first into the vehicle before skidding on the street. A ball of fire erupts as the aircraft breaks up into pieces.
Messages to the Prembroke Pines Police Department were not returned. The adult and child in the vehicle were taken to a hospital in serious condition. The age of the child was unclear.

That is the stark assessment of Nasa scientist and leading climate expert Jim Hansen who last week warned only urgent action by the new president could halt the devastating climate change that now threatens Earth. Soaring carbon emissions are already causing ice-cap melting and threaten to trigger global flooding, widespread species loss and major disruptions of weather patterns in the near future. "We cannot afford to put off change any longer," said Hansen. "We have to get on a new path within this new administration. We have only four years left for Obama to set an example to the rest of the world. America must take the lead."
Hansen said current carbon levels in the atmosphere were already too high to prevent runaway greenhouse warming. Yet the levels are still rising despite all the efforts of politicians and scientists.
Only the US now had the political muscle to lead the world and halt the rise, Hansen said. Having refused to recognise that global warming posed any risk at all over the past eight years, the US now had to take a lead as the world's greatest carbon emitter and the planet's largest economy. Cap-and-trade schemes, in which emission permits are bought and sold, have failed, he said, and must now be replaced by a carbon tax that will imposed on all producers of fossil fuels. At the same time, there must be a moratorium on new power plants that burn coal - the world's worst carbon emitter.
Hansen - head of the Goddard Institute of Space Studies and winner of the WWF's top conservation award - first warned Earth was in danger from climate change in 1988 and has been the victim of several unsuccessful attempts by the White House administration of George Bush to silence his views.

Plane Crash Lands In Pembroke Pines, Hitting Car
Two people were killed when the small plane they were in crashed in a Pembroke Pines neighborhood Monday afternoon, hitting a car as it went down and leaving the adult and child inside injured, officials said.
Pembroke Pines Police said the crash happened in the area of Southwest 72nd Avenue and Southwest 13th Street.
Surveillance footage from a nearby home showed the plane coming down and hitting the car before slamming into the ground and erupting into a ball of flames.
Aerial footage showed the wreckage of the plane up against an airport fence as firefighters sprayed it down, just across the street from a residential neighborhood. Other pieces of the plane were scattered around the scene.

“Give me that bear s—,” Khater allegedly said to Tanios on video recorded at the Lower West Terrace of the Capitol at 2:14 p.m., where Sicknick and other officers were standing guard behind metal bicycle racks, arrest papers say.
About nine minutes later, after Khater said he had been hit with bear spray, Khater is seen on video discharging a canister into the face of Sicknick and two other officers, arrest papers allege.

One is the story the media is going with—that he has worked at restaurants and bars. The other one is where he is a recruitment consultant for Washington Frank. It's possible they are different people, but they both went to Fairleigh Dickinson University and earned a degree in Business Admin and Management.

Sara A. Carter described an “overwhelming” crisis at the U.S. Mexico border, during the Sunday night Fox News show “The Next Revolution” with Steve Hilton. Moreover, law enforcement officials attempting to mitigate the issue feel their “hands are tied,” she said.
Carter recently returned from two border trips to McAllen and Brownsville, Texas and Yuma, Arizona.
“Many of them (migrants)… they’re sitting there, people are crossing the border, turning themselves in, they’re asking them to take off their shoelaces, they’re asking them to remove their belts, they’re basically saying ‘welcome to America, you’re not going to be kicked out, let’s take you and get you processed,'” Carter explained.
She added, “And now the problem is is that it’s overwhelming right now. The facilities are overwhelmed. You have over 9,300 children in the month of February.”
Carter went on to emphasize that the issue is not only dealing with an influx of unaccompanied children but also concerns an influx in family units.
“The border is wide open,” she said. “So you have over 100,000 people in February that entered the United States. Now, this week alone, we’re seeing over 3,500 children, but we’re also seeing family units. And not all of those people are the actual parents or guardians of these children. So we’re seeing a lot of human trafficking as well.”
