The Real Problem with Liberals Is They’ve Given Up on What Works for What Sounds Good

No nation in human history has been more successful or done more to help other nations than the United States. We were the decisive nation in WW1, WW2, and the Cold War. We have been the primary supporter of democracy on the planet, we have the most powerful military in human history, and other than Great Britain, no nation did more to end slavery. Americans built the largest economy in human history, put a man on the moon, and invented everything from the Model-T to the Internet. If you want to compare the United States to other nations that have accomplished a lot historically like Britain, Italy, Greece, Egypt, France, Russia, and China, none of them comes close. In the real world, despite our country’s flaws, America is still the pinnacle of human accomplishment. That doesn’t mean we can’t improve or that there isn’t any nation that can’t do things better than us, but we already are what other nations aspire to be.

Yet, that’s not good enough for so many people on the Left. So many liberals not only refuse to acknowledge our success, they put this country down at every opportunity. They’re the sort of people the late, great Machiavelli described just so:

“And many writers have imagined for themselves republics and principalities that have never been seen or known to exist in reality; for there is such a gap between how one lives and how one ought to live that anyone who abandons what is done for what ought to be done learns his ruin rather than his preservation: for a man who wishes to profess goodness at all times will come to ruin among so many who are not good.”

In other words, they hate the real country because they are in love with a theoretical utopia in their minds that has never existed in the real world and never will. It’s all fine and good to talk about critical race theory, fourth-wave feminism, intersectionality, or other ridiculous academic theories that have been taken far too seriously, but where have these theories brought success, happiness, and prosperity in the real world? What successful nation owes its accomplishments to those principles? When liberals look at American history, they tend to obsessively focus on our flaws despite the fact that they were common across the world. Yes, we took land from the Indians. However, there’s not a square foot of land on planet earth that wasn’t violently taken from one group of people by another at some point in time. We also had slavery at one time, just like almost every nation on the planet at one time or another. If prostitution is the oldest profession, then slave master was probably the second. There are racists in America, but if this country was really racist, non-white immigrants wouldn’t be flocking here by the millions.

What liberals always seem to miss is where we differ from so many other nations. Certainly, some of it was luck. This is a large, resource-rich nation that was just far away enough from Europe to keep any of those nations from controlling us long-term. However, beyond that, this nation had a devout Christian foundation and a Protestant work ethic. We had a well written, successful Constitution that created a Republic, embraced free speech, and jealously guarded the rights of the people from the government. We embraced capitalism, small government, personal responsibility, law and order, and a powerful culture that encouraged people that immigrated here to be part of a melting pot, not a salad bowl.

The problem with those ideas is not that they don’t work anymore — they certainly do — it’s that they are so obviously commonsensical that they have no appeal to liberals. As Thomas Sowell wrote:

“The charge is often made against the intelligentsia and other members of the anointed that their theories and the policies based on them lack common sense. But the very commonness of common sense makes it unlikely to have any appeal to the anointed. How can they be wiser and nobler than everyone else while agreeing with everyone else?”

We certainly don’t have the answer to every cultural and economic question, but most of them are no great mystery if you have even a passing knowledge of history. Capitalism works better than socialism. A strongly Christian society will be more law-abiding than an atheist one. A woman that gets married before having a baby is likely to be financially better off than a single mother. The economy will be stronger with a smaller government than a larger one.

However, so many of those obvious, commonsense solutions don’t sound good to a lot of people. There are winners and losers in a capitalistic system, so why shouldn’t we just take the money from the winners and give it to the losers? In a Christian society, people are condemned for doing “immoral” things and nobody likes being judged, so why not forget about that? Why should people have to drop the culture from their old country to move here or be allowed to say things people don’t want to hear when we could censor them instead? Why should a woman be “punished” for having a child out of wedlock, an illegal be “punished” for coming here illegally, or a man be “punished” for deciding he wants to be a woman? Why should anyone have to take responsibility for their life at all when they can demand that the government fix their problems?

So many liberals take for granted that the country will hold together, be free, and stay prosperous. Those are not safe assumptions. As Jonah Goldberg noted:

The Miracle of (our system) is not self-sustaining. Turn your back on its maintenance and it will fall apart. Take it for granted and people will start reverting to their natural impulses of tribalism. The best will lack all conviction and the worst will be full of passionate intensity. Things will fall apart.

Historically, the United States is the exception, not the rule. The rule has been that most humans live in poverty, live in fear of a violent end, and are dictatorially ruled by small numbers of people. Even today, a large minority of people on earth live under those conditions. If you don’t think that can happen to us or our children, you are a fool who has been kept safe so far by people wiser than yourself. We move away from the things that made this a great country at our own peril because in conclusion, as Ronald Reagan once said:

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

Gazing into the night sky Monday, Jupiter and Saturn, the two largest planets in the solar system, will appear closer together than they have ever been since the Middle Ages, offering billions of people around the world a celestial treat around the holidays, according to Rice University.

On Dec 21, the winter solstice, a day when the Earth's poles have their maximum tilt away from the Sun, offering the shortest period of daylight of the year, Jupiter and Saturn will almost appear as a double planet, which is called a "conjunction" by astrologist.

"Alignments between these two planets are rather rare, occurring once every 20 years or so, but this conjunction is exceptionally rare because of how close the planets will appear to one another," said Rice University astronomer Patrick Hartigan. "You'd have to go all the way back to just before dawn on Mar 4, 1226, to see a closer alignment between these objects visible in the night sky."

Between December 16 and 25, the two planets will appear as a double planet. The conjunction will take place in the low western sky for about an hour or so after sunset during this period of time.

Law Prohibits Pence From Accepting Electoral Votes From Fraudulently Certified States – Constitutional Lawyer

Citing the United States Constitution and U.S. Code, Constitutional Lawyer Ivan Raiklin says it is Vice President Mike Pence’s duty to instruct states to expeditiously send their Electoral College Certificates immediately if they have not been received.

U.S.C. 12 explains that “When no certificate of vote and list mentioned in sections 9 and 11 of this title from any State shall have been received by the President of the Senate or by the Archivist of the United States by the fourth Wednesday in December, after the meeting of the electors shall have been held, the President of the Senate … shall request, by the most expeditious method available, the secretary of state of the State to send up the certificate…”

Beyond the allegations and evidence of widespread fraud presented by both President Donald Trump’s legal team and independent lawyers and witnesses across the United States, several states have now sent competing slates of delegates to Washington, D.C.

Additionally, Republicans in Pennsylvania and Arizona have asked the U.S. Congress not to accept the votes assigned by the state’s Secretary of State, suggesting they represent fraudulent election results.

Should Pence take this action, he is then instructed by the law to request these states immediately send accurate Electoral College Certificates before January 6.

Raiklin told National File that Pence will essentially force states to reclaim their Constitutional power to appoint Electoral College votes.

“That forces State Legislatures’ hand,” said Raiklin. “Pence can force the legislatures to reclaim their Constitutional power, hold a session, and appoint the Electoral College votes themselves as the Supreme Court did not address this issue.”

According to Raiklin, the Constitution would allow these states to be completely stricken from the Electoral College if Pence should refuse to accept them, and the number of Electoral College votes required to win would shrink dramatically from 270. President Trump would win under a simple majority of Electoral College votes, 232-227, without any risk of triggering a contingent election.

While many legal scholars have indicated there is ambiguity about how Electoral Votes are accepted, the media has maintained that Biden’s electoral win was secured on December 14, and will be confirmed on January 20. However, Raiklin tells National File he is willing to defend his analysis.

“I challenge any attorney anywhere to fact check this. If you have a different legal analysis, prove it.”

Should Republicans push for a contingent election, President Trump’s victory would again rely on Pence to cast the tie breaking vote after the House and Senate are deadlocked on whether battleground states Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Michigan, and Wisconsin should be stricken from the total. Should neither candidate reach 270 votes, a contingent election would almost certainly see President Trump reelected by a vote cast by individual states, not Representatives, in the House, and Vice President Pence reelected in the Senate.

President Trump and his Republican allies in the House of Representatives and potentially the Senate have been preparing for an Electoral College contest on January 6 that may well lead to a contingent election. According to Raiklin, this would spare the country from this almost wholly uncharted territory.

BREAKING: White House Splits Over Special Counsel, Martial Law Amid Aftermath Of SolarWinds Breach

Arguments between Senior White House staff and prominent Trump staffers erupted in the Oval Office on Friday, according to CNN.

The rift between members of the Senior White House staff is now as public as it is wide, after CNN reported an Oval Office meeting between top Trump staffers, including Trump Campaign Attorney Matt Morgan, Attorney Sidney, Powell and General Michael Flynn, the de-facto leaders of the grassroots movement fighting for election integrity, that allegedly included arguments over a possible voter fraud Special Counsel investigation and martial law to restore election integrity.

Matt Morgan has previously been blamed for the campaign’s lackluster initial handling of the numerous claims of election fraud in the early hours of Wednesday, November 4.

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone were present at the meeting and reportedly pushed back against the notion of naming Powell as special counsel to investigate the widespread evidence of mass voter fraud in the 2020 election.

According to CNN, the conversation also included discussions on the possibility of enacting martial law to ensure election security, an idea that General Flynn suggested earlier this week on Newsmax. Some individuals in the room reportedly argued against it.

The idea of enacting an executive order to access and inspect US voting machines was also discussed in the meeting. This could possibly be a reference to President Trump’s 2018 executive order titled Imposing Certain Sanctions in the Event of Foreign Interference in a United States Election.

“I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, find that the ability of persons located, in whole or in substantial part, outside the United States to interfere in or undermine public confidence in United States elections, including through the unauthorized accessing of election and campaign infrastructure or the covert distribution of propaganda and disinformation, constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States…”

“…In recent years, the proliferation of digital devices and internet-based communications has created significant vulnerabilities and magnified the scope and intensity of the threat of foreign interference, as illustrated in the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment. I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with this threat.”

These developments arise amid the aftermath of the devastating SolarWinds cyber attack. As the unprecedented breach made its way into public view, DNI John Ratcliffe announced a delay in the release of the official report on foreign election interference due to new intelligence surrounding Chinese operations information, as National File reported:

As the joint statement reads, the agencies issued an Emergency Directive which instructed federal civilian agencies “to immediately disconnect or power down affected SolarWinds Orion products from their network” due to exploitation from “malicious actors.”

It has also been confirmed that Dominion Voting Systems uses products from the breached SolarWinds company, specifically, the Serv-U product. Furthermore DVS removed links and references to SolarWinds off their website, as National File reported.

While many mainstream media outlets and some officials, such as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, have claimed that Russia and/or Russian actors are “believed” to have been behind the SolarWinds breach, National File has reported on questionable financial ties between SolarWinds board members and China.

According to the Washington Post, SolarWinds investors traded a total of $280 million in stock before the official announcement of the breach, raising questions about potential insider trading. Silver Lake sold $158 million in SolarWinds shares six days before the SolarWinds breach was announced.

President Trump suggested that China “may be” behind the SolarWinds breach and that the cyber attack could have impacted US voting machines on Twitter, as National File reported.

President Donald Trump suggested on Twitter that China ‘may be’ responsible for the recently announced SolarWinds cyber attack, adding that “Russia, Russia, Russia is the priority chant” when anything happens, because mainstream media outlets have “financial reasons” to not cover China’s potential involvement.

President Trump also said that the cyber attack could have impacted “our ridiculous voting machines” during the 2020 US election, adding that the election was a “corrupted embarrassment for the USA.”

Attorney Powell and General Flynn’s grassroots election integrity movement, now known as “Stop the Steal,” aims for a full congressional hearing to address the evidence of mass voter fraud before a joint session of Congress on January 6, the day that the legislature certifies the electoral college votes. In the meantime, Americans await DNI Ratcliffe’s report on foreign election interference and President Trump’s future actions to address the evidence of mass voter fraud in the 2020 US election.

2020 Election Integrity – A Snapshot Showing Where We Stand

Chief Justice Roberts’s Supreme Court is manifestly reluctant to fulfill its statutory responsibilities, despite overwhelming, and steadily accruing, evidence of significant fraud that the election outcome. However, in 2018, President Trump may have prepared a time bomb that can still save the day.

Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, filed a complaint asserting that election fraud disenfranchised Texas voters. Texas voting was done within the framework of the U.S. Constitution and battleground states strayed beyond legal boundaries, to put it mildly. The legal votes of Texans were nullified by the alleged fraudulent votes of those states.

Article III, section 2, of the Constitution states in relevant part, the Supreme Court “[J]udicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity . . . to Controversies between two or more states. . . .” (Emphasis added.) Nevertheless, the Supreme Court has denied the Texas lawsuit challenging the election outcome in battleground states, asserting “lack of standing.”

Justices Alito and Thomas dissented from the majority opinion and wanted to hear the case. Alito wrote, “In my view, we do not have discretion to deny the filing of the bill of complaint in a case that falls within our original jurisdiction. I would therefore grant the motion to file the bill of complaint, but would not grant other relief, and I express no view on any other issue.”

Reading between the lines, Texas has standing under the Constitution. Hearing the complaint’s merits is warranted based upon the clearly expressed text. Further, SCOTUS could wisely have avoided picking winners and losers by disqualifying the election based upon malfeasance, which defers the matter to Congress as the Constitution mandates.

The only thing missing from their judgment is courage. To say that this is a disappointment would be an understatement.

The issue of election fraud is not new. The Heritage Foundation’s database on this issue shows 1,302 “proven instances of voter fraud” as of this writing. In 2020, issues of the deceased voting, non-citizens voting, and 120% of registered voter participation in certain counties are just a few examples of election corruption.

The convoluted nature of this election is by design. The progressive ruling class, under the guise of the coronavirus, flooded the country with unsolicited mail-in ballots. What could possibly go wrong?

There are times when the ruling classes show their hand. Remember when Rahm Emanuel said, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that, it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” Corporate media and Big Tech cover for these people all day long.

Crosscurrents of arrogance, power, and intimidation are at play here. If this corruption were to go unresolved, we would never have a free and fair election again. But, the American Spirit in pursuit of the truth, wherever the facts lead, is shining a light on this mischief.

Forensic Audit of Dominion Machines

The results of a forensic audit of Dominion tabulators in Antrim, Michigan have been released. This is the Republican stronghold that gave Biden a win by a few thousand votes. The 6,000 vote “glitch” was rectified, but further illustrates what appears to be a trend.

Proprietary coding has been redacted but the merits of the substance remain. According to the Washington Examiner, Allied Security Operations Group conducted the analysis. A synopsis of their findings is as follows:

Dominion machines are intentionally designed to create fraud

They are designed to manipulate data with no oversight

liminating transparency is part of their signature

They were intentionally designed to eliminate an audit trail

The observable error rate is 68.05% when the Federal Election Comm. standard is 0.0008%

Republican Clerk did not update software, exacerbating the situation

Dominion Voting System should not be used in Michigan

Audit bottom line: Michigan’s election should not be certified.

Technology and Foreign Interference

Col. Philip Waldron (US Army Retired) has a 30-year career as an intelligence officer, specializing in cybersecurity relating to election fraud. He reflects the best and brightest of experts in systems analysis. As part of the White House team, he’s been looking into election trends and irregularities since August of 2020.

Our voting system is not supposed to be internet accessible, but he has confirmed that it is. He has identified a dozen different ways these voting machines can be hacked. He says that a top-level DEF CON Defense Readiness Condition: an alert system for national defense hacker (a group of hackers who gather in Las Vegas every year to prove how easily things are to hack) can hack this system in “less than two minutes.”

In his testimony, which is publicly available, he states, “The voting systems in the U.S. and in Pennsylvania were built to be manipulated.” He also states that election equipment like Dominion, ES&S, and many other systems all have similar codes and functions that are compatible with Smartmatic voting software. This would make it easy for a systems analyst or hacker to manipulate votes across multiple platforms and states.

The colonel testified that he personally witnessed a data transfer from a Dominion machine to Frankfurt, Germany, on November 3rd . . . Election Day!

Additional foreign involvement has been confirmed by the Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe. He told CBS that China, Iran, and Russia had interfered with our election in November. His forthcoming report is in progress.

What we know, in such a short period of time, may be just the tip of the iceberg. Much needs to be unpacked and revealed.

It is this foreign involvement that sets the table for an ingenious move by the President.

The Trump Card

On September 12, 2018, President Trump issued an Executive Order that got little attention back then. Due to the toxic political environment, with adversaries both foreign and domestic, the president proactively put “Executive Order on Imposing Certain Sanctions in the Event of Foreign Interference in a United States Election” in play.

It states in relevant part:

In recent years, the proliferation of digital devices and internet-based communications has created significant vulnerabilities and magnified the scope and intensity of the threat of foreign interference, as illustrated in the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment. I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with this threat.

Under this EO, the Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe, is instructed to conduct an assessment of the threat within 45 days from the conclusion of the US Election. As one would imagine, this report requires specificity including means, methods, and principals involved.

Under the premise of a national emergency, the government is empowered to freeze bank accounts, impound voting machines, seize assets, etc. There is also language that targets those who would undermine public confidence via “covert distribution of propaganda and disinformation.” Corporate Media & Big Tech, hopefully, some Karma coming your way.

What Binney points out is that according to the Washington Post, 2020 had the highest voter turnout in over a century:Of course this on its face value implies fraud since no one was excited about voting for Joe Biden, but the WaPo wouldn’t consider going there – not with their far-left extreme bias.

Binney attaches a link to the number of registered voters in the US. We made a copy as of today and added these voters up. When we add up the number of registered voters we obtain 213.8 million registered voters in the US as of this morning.

Using the numbers as of today, which are materially similar to Binney’s, we find a huge issue. If we have 213.8 million registered voters in the US and 66.2% of all voters voted in the 2020 election, that equals 141.5 voters who voted in the 2020 election (Binney shows 140 million which is materially the same).

If President Trump won 74 million votes, then that leaves only 67.5 million votes remaining for Biden. This means 13 million duplicate or made up ballots were created and counted for Biden!

This also supports our observations from the start. Biden committed fraud in every imaginable way, but the big steal was in millions of fraudulent votes that were created to steal the election for Biden. MILLIONS!

The results of the 2020 election at a very high level do not add up. This is math liberals – very simple math that even liberals should be able to understand. At a high level, the Biden camp clearly committed fraud.

NYC Restaurant Owners Have the Perfect Response to Governor Cuomo, He's Not Going to Like This

If there was an award for the worst possible response to a pandemic, surely Governor Andrew Cuomo would not only be in the lead, but it would be hard to argue against him winning it.

Cuomo was responsible for an order forcing nursing homes to accept Wuhan coronavirus patients. Thousands of New Yorkers in nursing homes died in the wake of that order. His health department then changed the way nursing home deaths were counted after the scandal hit to cover-up exactly how many deaths were involved, we still don’t know exactly.

Then he tried to blame President Donald Trump for New York leading the nation in deaths, despite the fact that he had previously praised Trump for providing all kinds of help for the city.

Despite his horrible response, he was lauded by the liberal media for his response, who made him into a hero and even spoke about him as a possible presidential candidate at some future point.

Then with absolutely no self-awareness, he wrote a book lauding his response while the pandemic was still ongoing and despite so many deaths in New York.

Not only has he exacerbated nursing home deaths with his order, he’s also exacerbated businesses going under with arbitrary restrictions.

Restaurant owners in New York City have had enough and they’re letting him know in a very direct way. He is no longer welcome in any of their restaurants.

A group of restaurants agitating to reopen indoor dining have joined together to ban him from their restaurants.

From Washington Examiner:

“He can eat at some sh—- roadside diner outside of Albany but he will not be served anywhere in New York City, known universally as the world’s greatest dining destination! If he has to use the restroom he can go pee on my street-corner,” said bar owner Larry Baird.

Members of a Facebook group by the name of “NYC Restaurant Open,” which is comprised of several restaurant and bar owners from the city, have signaled support for the Cuomo ban.

“Completely schizophrenic behavior,” one group member said. “How are they coming up with these rules is beyond any logical reasoning.”

“He can dine at Gracie Mansion if wants hospitality in Manhattan,” another member added. “He ain’t getting it here!”

Cuomo has banned indoor dining once again in NYC earlier in the month, claiming that “with the rate of transmission, the density and crowding,” it was a “bad situation.”

In fact, the science suggests that the rate of transmission in restaurants in New York City, such as they can assess it, is rare. Only 1.3 percent of COVID 19 infections come from bars and restaurants in the city, according to the statistics. Yet Cuomo is willing to destroy a whole industry with all of the jobs and people’s lives associated with it. Over 1000 restaurants have closed permanently in New York City because of these restrictions.

Little about such restrictions seems truly based on science and statistics, but rather more based upon power and control.

So some like Mac’s Public House owner Danny Presti have gotten inventive when it comes to getting around the restrictions. He’s declared his place an “autonomous zone” where the food and drinks are “free” but people can leave “donations.”

“It doesn’t seem like we can do business,” said Mac’s Public House owner Danny Presti, who was arrested earlier this month in connection to refusing lockdown orders. “So here’s what we’re going to do for everybody: We’re going to give away everything for free. So now you can come to Mac’s Public House, and you can eat for free and you can drink for free. We just ask that you do make a donation toward us so that we can still pay our bills.”

This will hit the narcissistic governor right where he lives. Watch for the ensuing tantrum when he hears this.

Law Professor Calls for All Black Votes to Be Double-Counted From Now On

To explain, I mean counts for one.

Or, if you’re black, possibly double that.

Such is the system that works for Brandon Hasbrouck, who recently penned a piece for The Nation magazine.

The Washington and Lee University School of Law assistant professor thinks each lever-pull by a black voter should be tallied twice.

In the article, Brandon insists “black voters in this country are worth less than white voters.”

He does state that black people (in Atlanta, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Philadelphia) won Biden the Electoral College; yet, he asserts, despite “overwhelming Black support — 94 percent of Detroit voted for Biden,” Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania were still “worryingly close.”

One enemy to the black American’s ballot-casting — says Brandon — is the Electoral College:

One core problem is the Electoral College. Wyoming, which has just 580,000 residents and is 93 percent white, gets three electors because of its two senators and one representative in the House. By comparison, Georgia’s Fifth Congressional District — which includes Atlanta, has 710,000 residents, and is 58 percent Black — has no dedicated electors or senators and can only occasionally overcome the mostly white and conservative votes from elsewhere in the state.

Do black lives matter? Where the government’s concerned, he estimates No:

This devaluation of Black votes allows our political system to ignore Black lives, and the consequences are devastating. Unequal representation has led to unequal health care outcomes, which the Covid-19 pandemic has only worsened.

One thing’s for sure — repeatedly, black voters by and large enlist Democrats to save the day.

The Daily Wire runs some numbers:

Democratic presidential candidates have received an average of nearly 90% of the black vote for more than five decades. George W. Bush got 9% of the black vote in 2000, then made a heavy outreach and soared in 2004 — to 11%. In 2012 Mitt Romney pledged to help the black community more than had President Barack Obama (who got 95% of the 2008 vote). Romney ended up with 8% of the black vote, the same percentage President Trump would get in 2016.

Has it served them well?

Regardless, Brandon argues the Electoral College was set up from the get-go to disadvantage black Americans.

Its foundational purpose, in fact, was to protect slavery:

The Constitution’s framers set up the Electoral College to protect the interests of slave states. Along with the Senate, the Electoral College was critical in the endurance of slavery and its continuation by other means. Abolishing this system would mean that ballots cast by Black voters — or any voters, for that matter — would count the same.”

Therefore, it’s time for reparations, Doublemint Gum style:

We can implement vote reparations by double-counting ballots cast by all Black residents.

The professor points out the idea isn’t only his — in a 2015 op-ed for The Washington Post, Brennan Center for Justice Senior Fellow Theodore Johnson called for roughly the same.

Mr. Johnson endorsed the increase of each black vote to 5/3 — accomplishing “a poetic symmetry with the three-fifths clause of the Constitution.”

That clause, as you may recall, counted each slave as 3/5 of a person.

But Brandon considers a doubling to be closer to right — it “keeps the point clear and provides redress for myriad forms of disenfranchisement deployed against Black voters.”

And if Washington will agree to it, voilà — balance to the Force:

Because white votes currently count more than Black ones, double-counting Black votes would restore electoral balance. Vote reparations would be a giant step toward remedying our nation’s long history of denying and devaluing Black votes.

The university instructor makes clear: Systemic racism is real.

So a solution’s got to be found.

He asks readers to imagine a world where black votes are twice-counted:

To address systemic racism, we must transform how we choose our government. Even if vote reparations aren’t instituted, Black voters will keep tirelessly dragging our states toward a more perfect union. But just imagine our country if our votes counted twice.

Can you envision it?

Are We Witnessing the Beginning of the End for Fox News?

What’s going to happen to Fox News?

After the election, it seems that conservatives and Republicans are gradually looking elsewhere for their news and commentary. But it isn’t just right-leaning consumers of content that are pivoting, the individuals who appear on these networks seem to be noticing the shift.

The Hill recently reported that GOP lawmakers are appearing more frequently on Newsmax than they have in the past. Indeed, Fox News was virtually the only conservative news outlet on which Republican leaders appeared up until recently.

“As President Trump openly feuds with Fox News, conservative lawmakers and loyal Trump officials have increasingly added Newsmax to their rotation of media stops, giving a sheen of credibility to the fledgling network as it seeks to compete for conservative viewers,” according to The Hill.

Newsmax is not yet rivaling Fox in terms of ratings, but it seems feasible that the outlet could close the gap in the next few years. GOP lawmakers told The Hill that the rise in popularity for Newsmax and other right-leaning news organizations has enticed them to appear more frequently on these alternative networks.

Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) stated that Trump’s feud with Fox contributed to his decision to look at smaller outlets. The Hill noted, “asked whether Trump’s criticism of Fox News is a factor for the small segment of Republicans considering the alternative networks, Harris replied: ‘It is for me.’”

The same seems to hold true for other GOP lawmakers. Newsmax anchor Sean Spicer and his co-host, Lyndsay Keith, recently interviewed newly-elected representatives August Pfluger and Tony Gonzales. Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) still appears on Fox but has also made multiple appearances on Spicer’s show.

“Sean Spicer is well respected on Capitol Hill and his show with Lyndsay is both substantive and widely viewed in Congress,” Banks told The Hill. “I enjoy doing it and get feedback from constituents when I do.”

From The Hill:

“Over one 24-hour period last week, Newsmax featured new interviews with Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and David Perdue (R-Ga.).

Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.) stopped by to attack elected Republican officials in Georgia for not doing enough to root out fraud. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tenn.) hammered Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) for his office having been infiltrated by a Chinese spy. And Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) came on to blame Democrats for stalling COVID-19 relief efforts.”

Other Republican politicians have not yet appeared on Newsmax, but they seem to be taking notice of the trend. “I know back home people are watching Fox less and watching the other outlets,” a GOP lawmaker in the Midwest told The Hill.

Still, Fox News remains the dominant right-leaning news outlet. It is the top-rated network in both daytime and prime time.

Still, Fox can book anyone it wants — including Trump, who sat for an interview with Fox & Friends last week, despite his criticism of the network. Its popularity is declining in the wake of the election, but it still has a ways to go before it has to worry about competition from the likes of Newsmax and OANN. But this does not mean it can afford to rest on its laurels.

Newsmax seems to be doing everything it can to capitalize on conservatives’ dissatisfaction with Fox. Reuters reported that “the network plans to hire more staff in the United States and London, debut a new primetime host and add more weekend programming to capitalize on post-election gains and some viewers’ discontent with Rupert Murdoch’s longtime ratings king Fox News.

Axios noted that Newsmax is making a push to snag some of Fox News’ talent. They reported that the company is “trying to lure away its vital booking agents with promises of higher salaries.”

Fox News might be the outlet of choice for most conservatives currently, but it is entirely possible that this is changing. The network’s handling of the election left a sour taste in many Republicans’ mouths, and it is no surprise that they are seeking out other news sources. While it is unlikely that the outlet will fold completely, it appears to be inevitable that its competitors will grow more popular and could pose a serious challenge to the network’s dominance.

An aircraft carrier group led by China’s newest carrier, the Shandong, sailed through the Taiwan Strait on its way to routine drills in the South China Sea, China’s navy said on Monday, after Taiwan mobilised its forces to monitor the convoy.

The Shandong sailed through the Taiwan Strait a day after a US warship passed through the same stretch of sea.

The drills are part of “normal arrangements made in accordance with annual plans”, it said. “In the future, we will continue to organise similar operations based on training needs.”

The carrier’s move through the strait comes amid rising tension between China and Taiwan, which Beijing sees as part of its territory. The democratically ruled island says it has recorded almost daily incursions into its airspace by the Chinese armed forces in recent months.

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said the Shandong was accompanied by four warships and had set out from the northern Chinese port of Dalian on Thursday. In a statement on its website, it said the convoy continued to move south.

Taiwan said it sent six warships and eight military aircraft to monitor the Chinese ships’ movements.

“The military has the confidence and ability to protect its homeland, ensure national security and maintain regional peace and stability,” the statement said.

The Shandong is China’s second carrier, and was formally commissioned almost exactly a year ago.

Since then, it has successfully completed tasks such as carrier-based aircraft take-off and landing and use of its weapons, the Chinese navy said.

“The combat capability of the formation system has been continuously improved in experimental training,” it added, referring to the group of warships which accompany the Shandong.

China has been working to hone its carrier operations but has little experience compared to the United States, which has operated integrated carrier battle groups with multiple vessels for decades.

US policymakers will back a $1.9bn programme to remove telecommunications network equipment that the US government says could threaten national security as part of a $900bn COVID-19 relief bill, two sources briefed on the matter told the Reuters news agency.

Policymakers will also back $3.2bn for an emergency broadband benefit for low-income Americans, senior congressional aides confirmed.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) said in June it had formally designated China’s Huawei Technologies Co and ZTE Corp as threats, a declaration that bars US firms from tapping an $8.3bn government fund to buy equipment from the companies.

Earlier this month, the FCC finalised rules that require carriers with ZTE or Huawei equipment to “rip and replace” that equipment but is awaiting funding from Congress.

Huawei said earlier this month it was disappointed in the FCC’s decision “to force removal of our products from telecommunications networks. This overreach puts US citizens at risk in the largely underserved rural areas – during a pandemic – when reliable communication is essential”.

Rip and replace The bill “establishes a temporary, emergency broadband benefit program at the FCC to help low-income Americans, including those economically challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic, get connected or remain connected to broadband,” according to a fact sheet seen by Reuters.

One of the sources also said the programme will supply a $50 monthly subsidy to qualifying households “to help them afford broadband service and an internet-connected device.”

The bill also expands eligibility for the rip-and-replace reimbursement programme to communications providers with 10 million subscribers or less but prioritises reimbursement for providers with two million subscribers or less, the source said, citing a draft fact sheet.

The bill will include $285m for connecting minority communities and will establish an Office of Minority Broadband Initiatives at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).

It will also offer funding to “support minority-serving education institutions, including when they partner with minority-owned businesses, to expand broadband capacity and use at the school and in the surrounding community,” the fact sheet seen by Reuters said.

It also includes about $250m for additional FCC support for tele-health and $1bn for an NTIA tribal broadband connectivity grant programme.

There is a separate $300m NTIA grant scheme to promote broadband expansion to Americans who have less connectivity, especially in rural areas, and $65m for better broadband maps.

That fully funds the FCC’s development of new, more accurate broadband availability maps to help the agency better target government funding for broadband deployment.

On Friday, the US Department of Commerce announced it is blacklisting Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC), drone maker SZ DJI Technology Co and more than 60 other Chinese companies “to protect US national security”.

Companies including Huawei and SMIC have been caught in the middle of worsening tensions between the world’s two largest economies, which have clashed on issues from trade to the pandemic.

Several countries have banned or will ban flights and travellers from the UK after the British government said on Sunday that the spread of a more-infectious new strain of the coronavirus was now “out of control”.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and scientists announced that the new strain had led to spiralling infection numbers.

Here are the countries that have announced travel bans so far:

Argentina has banned flights from the UK. It said the last flight from the UK would arrive in the country on Monday.

Belgium banned flights from the UK for at least 24 hours from midnight on Sunday.

Bulgaria said flights to and from the UK would be suspended from midnight Sunday until January 31.

Canada is banning all UK flights for 72 hours.

Chile announced that it would suspend flights from the UK effective Tuesday.

Colombia will suspend all flights to the UK.

Croatia said it would temporarily suspend passenger air traffic from the UK for 48 hours.

Denmark has suspended flights from the UK for 48 hours starting Monday at 09:00 GMT.

El Salvador‘s President Nayib Bukele said anyone who had been in Britain or South Africa in the past 30 days will not be allowed to enter the country.

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have halted flights from the UK.

Finland has barred flights from the UK for two weeks.

France has banned all travel from the UK for 48 hours, including journeys “related to goods transport by road, air, sea or rail”.

Germany halted all air links with the UK from midnight on Sunday, with the ban initially slated to last until December 31. Cargo flights will be exempt.

Hong Kong will ban flights from the UK over new coronavirus strain.

Italy has blocked flights from Great Britain and the “entry into Italy of people who have stayed there during the last 14 days”. The new strain has been found in one person in Italy who recently returned from the UK.

Iran has ordered flights from the UK suspended for two weeks.

Ireland has banned all flights arriving from the UK from midnight Sunday for at least 48 hours.

Israel said it was barring entry to foreign citizens travelling from the UK, Denmark and South Africa.

Kuwait has added the UK to a list of “high-risk” nations and banned flights.

Morocco banned all flights to the UK beginning on Sunday.

Norway will be suspend flights from the UK with immediate effect for a minimum of 48 hour, the Norwegian health minister said in a statement on Monday.

All passenger flights from the UK to the Netherlands have been banned until January 1, the Dutch government said. It later banned ferry passengers as well.

Poland will be suspending flights from the UK starting from midnight on Monday.

Romania has banned all flights to and from the UK for two weeks starting on Monday afternoon.

Switzerland has stopped flights until further notice.

Turkey said flights from the UK, Denmark – where nine cases of the new strain have been detected – the Netherlands and South Africa will be suspended.

Jupiter, Saturn merging in night sky, closest in centuries

The two largest planets will be one-tenth of a degree apart in what is being dubbed the ‘Great Conjunction’.

Jupiter and Saturn will merge in the night sky on Monday, appearing closer to one another than they have since Galileo was alive in the 17th century.

Astronomers say so-called conjunctions between the two largest planets in our solar system are not particularly rare – Jupiter passes its neighbour Saturn in their respective laps around the Sun every 20 years.

They should be easily visible around the world a little after sunset, weather permitting.

Toss in the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, the longest night of the year – and the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere – and the spectacle promises to be one of the greatest of Great Conjunctions.

To see it, be ready shortly after sunset on Monday, looking to the southwest fairly low on the horizon.

Saturn will be the smaller, fainter blob at Jupiter’s upper right. Binoculars will be needed to separate the two planets.

Despite appearances, Jupiter and Saturn will actually be more than 730 million kilometres (450 million miles) apart.

Earth, meanwhile, will be 890 million kilometres (550 million miles) from Jupiter.

“What is most rare is a close conjunction that occurs in our nighttime sky,” said Vanderbilt University’s David Weintraub, an astronomy professor.

“I think it’s fair to say that such an event typically may occur just once in any one person’s lifetime, and I think ‘once in my lifetime’ is a pretty good test of whether something merits being labelled as rare or special.”

It will be the closest Jupiter-Saturn pairing since July 1623, when the two planets appeared a little nearer. This conjunction was almost impossible to see, however, because of its closeness to the sun.

Considerably closer and in plain view was the March 1226 conjunction of the two planets when Genghis Khan was conquering Asia.

Monday’s conjunction will be the closest pairing that is visible since way back then.

Saturn and Jupiter have been drawing closer in the south-southwest sky for weeks. Jupiter – bigger and closer to Earth – is brighter.

Their next super-close pairing: March 15, 2080.

Donald Trump Jr. Rallies in Georgia: ‘Do Not Squander This Opportunity’; Fight for the Senate

RINGGOLD, Georgia — Donald Trump Jr. told Georgians at a rally Saturday to protect the Republican Senate majority and preserve his father’s accomplishments by voting for Sens. David Perdue (R-GA) and Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) in the upcoming Senate runoff election.

Trump Jr. implored the crowd gathered at the Colonnade Center in Catoosa County on Saturday afternoon to not only vote but to vote early, call friends to vote, and speak to fellow constituents about the stakes of the election.

“Do not squander this opportunity,” Trump Jr. said. “Because I promise you, you will regret it. You will wake up one day in January and say, ‘Crap. Should’ve done a little bit more.’ Whatever you would do to reverse that feeling then, do it now.”

Perdue and Loeffler are facing Democrats Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock in Senate runoff races on January 5, and at least one of the two Republican candidates must win for the GOP to retain its Senate majority.

“There’s way too much at stake, guys, for ourselves, for our families, for our freedoms, you know, all those things the left doesn’t really believe in. I still do. That’s why I’m doing this,” Trump Jr. said during the third of his three campaign stops scheduled in Georgia for the weekend.

The president’s eldest son also asked the crowd to “continue fighting” for his father. “This isn’t just the Senate, but it’s also my father’s legacy and his accomplishments,” he said. “All of those things that they’ll try to take away, all of the freedoms that he fought for.”

Trump Jr. was joined at the rally by Perdue and Trump campaign senior adviser Kimberly Guilfoyle.

On nationwide economic turmoil resulting from coronavirus-related mandates, Trump Jr. ripped into New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) as an exemplary reason to vote Republican. “You have guys like Bill de Blasio … that destroyed New York City, by the way, minor details,” Trump Jr. said. “He’s saying that New York City’s future depends on this Senate race in Georgia, because he knows that if the leftists win, guess what? You will have the privilege of paying for New York’s incompetence.”

He added, “You notice how those leftist governors— Man, they love taking your freedoms. Not so quick to want to give them back.”

On China, Trump Jr. suggested the communist country favors a Democrat-run U.S. government. “Why does China want the Democrats to win? You think it’s because it’s good for America? Or do you think it’s because if the Democrats win it’s good for China?”

Trump Jr. laid into Democrats who have had run-ins with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), including Ossoff, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), and Hunter Biden, and lamented that “no one cares.”

Ossoff omitted from his Senate filings a payment from a company directly linked to the CCP. He later corrected his paperwork and attributed the omission to an “oversight,” but questions remain both about whether the omission benefitted Ossoff in his primary run and whether Ossoff has evidence of the amount of the payment.

Trump Jr. also cited the reported relationship between Swalwell, who is a member of the House Intelligence Committee, and suspected Chinese spy Christine Fang, as well as Hunter Biden’s business dealings in China.

During the rally, Trump Jr. also dismissed the notion that Republicans would sit out voting because of concerns with election integrity. “That’s what the Democrats want,” he said.

“That sounds like a Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi talking point. That’s what the Democrats have been hoping and praying and dreaming for years would happen to Republicans,” Trump Jr. continued, “that Republicans would get sick of it, that they’d be dejected, that they’d end up just sitting at home.”

Overall voter participation in the runoff election is expected to be high, with early in-person voting already underway and absentee ballot requests topping one million.

Arnold Schwarzenegger to Biden: Create a New Voting Rights Act to Fight ‘Voter Suppression’

Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger is urging Joe Biden to create a new “Voting Rights Act,” saying that such a law would help combat “voter suppression.”

The Terminator star said in an interview Saturday with CNN’s Michael Smerconish that he wants the president elect and Congress to work on the new legislation.

“I just recommend very strongly that now when Biden is in office that they go and work on a new Voting Rights Act,” he said. “I think it is irresponsible to not have a Voting Rights Act and to have those polling places closed under the auspices of budgets, under the auspices of coronavirus, and all this stuff. I mean, I think that a lot of times, there are excuses because the fact of the matter is that it’s voter suppression.”

In the past, Democrats have frequently blamed “voter suppression” for their losses. Hillary Clinton alleged that ethnic minorities were turned away at the polls in Wisconsin in 2016, thus contributing to her defeat in the presidential election. In Georgia, which has become the center of the fight for control of the U.S. Senate, left-wing politicians including Stacey Abrams have repeatedly alleged that “voter suppression” has hurt them at the polls.

Democrats are now beating the drum for an update to the Voting Rights Act of 1965, after the Supreme Court ruled in 2013 that parts of the act are unconstitutional.

Schwarzenegger, who has been trying to make a Hollywood comeback since leaving politics, has been a vocal critic of President Trump. In his CNN interview, the Hollywood actor and former Republican California governor said that Biden appealed to voters because he was seen as centrist. “People like to see a balance in Washington between the Democrats and the Republicans,” he said.

The actor didn’t mention vice president-elect Kamala Harris, whom the non-partisan GovTrack.us rated as the most left-wing member of the Senate, even further left than “democratic socialist” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

Andrew Yang Calls for ‘Barcode’ to Prove Coronavirus Vaccination

Former Democrat presidential candidate Andrew Yang proposed a “barcode” program Friday for Americans to prove they have received a coronavirus vaccination.

Tough to have mass gatherings like concerts or ballgames without either mass adoption of the vaccine or a means of signaling.

“Is there a way for someone to easily show that they have been vaccinated – like a barcode they can download on their phone? There ought to be,” Yang wrote on Twitter.

In November, Yang said he would “eagerly” accept a role in a Joe Biden administration.

He also wants to run for office again after his unsuccessful bid for the presidency.

“We all know if I ran again, it would be a lot more fun than the first time. Because the first time, you know, I was kind of climbing out of anonymity. The second time, you know, we’d have a blast from day one. I would 100% run for office again,” Yang told Yahoo Finance.

“You know, not sure which office, but the problems again are getting bigger now, not smaller. And I’m happy to say I feel like my ability to help has also gotten bigger. I’m just going to keep on helping until some of these problems actually get better.”

Meanwhile, other progressives are floating another type of verification scheme.

Wisconsin’s WISN reported Anit Mukherjee of the Center for Global Development said “some sort of technology is needed to verify whether [people] have had the vaccine” and is “almost a certainty for a return to normal.”

“There would be gatekeepers, as I call them, at different places, be it at your workplace or your office when you go in, or a stadium to watch the (Milwaukee) Bucks play,” Mukherjee said. “They would require some form of assurance that you have been vaccinated.”

He argued such a mandate is needed “for the greater public good.”

“We need to think of how we approach this in a very careful manner, but also understanding that this is the future,” Mukherjee told the news station. “There will be other pandemics and we need to be prepared.”

He said he developed such a scheme when he worked in India’s Department of Finance and could imposed in America “in a matter of months.”

Warships from three navies transit the Taiwan Strait as regional tensions simmer

China recently has been angered by increased U.S. support for Taiwan.

International tensions were underscored in the South China Sea over the weekend, as three countries sent military units to transit the sensitive Taiwan Strait.

The U.S. Navy's guided-missile destroyer USS Mustin on Saturday sailed through the channel on a routine mission that drew quick rebuke from Beijing, which claims to have shadowed the American warship. China on Sunday then dispatched a naval strike group featuring its new aircraft carrier, the Shandong, prompting Taiwan to send six warships and eight military aircraft to monitor the Chinese ships.

"That's a lot of maneuvering in a small space in a short amount of time," a Pentagon official told Just the News. "Everyone has been very professional, but they are making their views clearly known."

Beijing and Taipei long have been at odds over Taiwan, an island apart from mainland China. The conflict is rooted in the Chinese Civil War, when Mao Tse Tung's communist forces battled Chiang-kai Shek's nationalists. The nationalists in 1949 fled to the island of Formosa, now known as Taiwan. The Communist Chinese Party, based on the mainland, claims control over the independent Taiwan.

Beijing recently has been angered by increased U.S. support for Taiwan, including new arms sales and visits to Taipei by senior U.S. military officers. Additionally, Beijing is unhappy that the president of Taiwan has bolstered the country's defense forces.

The U.S. Navy has conducted numerous freedom-of-navigation exercises through the Taiwan Strait, the latest occurring Saturday.

China claimed the transit was a provocation.

"Recently, U.S. warships have sailed through the Taiwan Strait from time to time," said Senior Colonel Zhang Chunhui, a spokesman for the People’s Liberation Army’s Eastern Theatre Command. "They have deliberately raised the heat of the Taiwan issue … [and] sent flirtatious glances to Taiwan’s independence forces, severely jeopardizing peace and stability."

The Mustin's journey was a routine operation, the Navy countered.

"The ship’s transit through the Taiwan Strait demonstrates the U.S. commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific," the Navy said in a statement. "The United States military will continue to fly, sail and operate anywhere international law allows."

In June, the PLA's Eastern Theater Command held combat exercises partially in the waters near Taiwan. Zhang at the time reportedly described them as "a necessary move responding to the current security situation in the Taiwan Straits and were meant to safeguard national sovereignty."

Five states have overlapping claims over portions of the South China Sea. They include China, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

Putin thanks spy agency for protecting Russia; does not mention cyber hack

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated his foreign intelligence service for its work in comments Sunday made shortly after accusations were leveled at Moscow for launching a massive hack of U.S. government computer systems.

"I know what I’m talking about here," the former KGB agent said in comments translated by the Kremlin. "And I rate very highly the difficult professional operations that have been conducted."

Putin made his comments during a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the SVR, the Russian foreign intelligence service. The event was held in conjunction with the annual Day of the Security Services Worker.

"I wish success to those who defend Russia from external and internal threats, stand for our sovereignty and national interests and for whom the security and wellbeing of the Motherland have been and will always be a lifelong commitment," Putin said. The job, he said, "is oftentimes connected with considerable risk."

Russian spies must pay the "most serious attention" to information security, and to fighting extremism and corruption, he said. Additionally, Putin told agents to pay close attention to conflicts that are "simmering" near Russia's borders.

Earlier this month, Poland-based military analyst Konrad Muzyka reported that Moscow has built up military forces within its Western Military District. The strategically important district borders Ukraine, Belarus, and other countries.

In the Dec. 20 speech to the SVR, Putin did not mention the cyber hacks. Moscow previously said it did not launch the attacks.

Trump Said He Spoke With Sen.-Elect Tuberville, Who Has Weighed a Challenge to Electoral Votes

President Donald Trump has spoken to Sen.-elect Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), after Tuberville said he was mulling whether to join representatives next month in filing a challenge to electoral votes.

“I spoke to a great gentlemen Tommy Tuberville last night, and he was so excited. He said, ‘You made me the most popular politician in the United States.’ He said, ‘I can’t believe it.’ He’s great. Great senator,” Trump said on WABC radio.

Tuberville, who unseated Sen. Doug Jones (D-Ala.), suggested earlier this month that he would challenge electoral votes when a joint session of Congress meets on Jan. 6, 2021, to count them.

A challenge must have the backing of at least one member of the House and one senator to trigger a debate and votes by each chamber.

Tuberville told told an Alabama outlet on Thursday after the video emerged that he’s “doing my due diligence” through the Christmas holiday.

“I want to do what’s best for President Trump and the people of Alabama and the people of this country. They asked me, ‘Are you going to support President Trump?’ And, of course, I’m always going to support President Trump. He’s the best president of my lifetime and has done more for the people of this country and the state of Alabama than anybody. But we want to make sure we do the right thing,” he said.

Tuberville said he will probably meet with Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), the first person who will be in the House next month that committed to challenging votes.

Brooks said on C-Span’s “Washington Journal” that he plans on challenging votes from state’s like Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin, where the count is in question because of irregularities and possible fraud.

“Their election systems are so flawed so as to render results on trustworthy,” he said.

The group of members and members-elect who plan to challenge has gotten bigger. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), a staunch Trump ally, joined it on Friday.

“I’m joining with the fighters in the Congress, and we are going to object to electors from states that didn’t run clean elections,” Gaetz told a crowd in Florida.

On the senate side, Sens. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) have said they aren’t ruling it out. That number is smaller then the senators who have ruled it out, including Sens. John Thune (R-S.D.), Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).

Beijing ‘Substantially Involved’ in US 2020 Election: China Analyst

Beijing was “substantially involved” in the U.S. 2020 elections on multiple levels, says China analyst Gordon Chang who has described the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) infiltration of American “elite” circles as an “espionage emergency.”

“I think China clearly interfered,” China expert Chang, author of “The Coming Collapse of China,” told NTD’s Focus News.

Chang, who has spent decades studying China and writing about the threat of the CCP, explained how leading up to the Nov. 3 presidential election, the trend of Chinese propaganda was that former Vice President Joe Biden should receive the Democratic Party nomination over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). State propaganda later favored Biden over President Donald Trump, Chang said.

“We also know that China tried to cause chaos. Large Chinese networks like ‘Spamoflauge Dragon’ relentlessly attacked the president on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter,” Chang said, referring to a pro-Beijing spam network that targeted Trump in the run-up to the election.

“We know that the social media platforms have taken down a massive number of fake Chinese accounts,” Chang added. “Twitter in June alone took down 174,000 fake accounts, so we know that they were actively involved, and we have a number of indications that it was not to help the president.”

Responding to Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s (ODNI) recent announcement that the intelligence community could not meet the Dec. 18 deadline set by an executive order to report on foreign threats during the November election, Chang suggested that there could be a disagreement within the intelligence committee about the extensive nature of CCP involvement.

According to Trump’s executive order in 2018, the DNI was expected to deliver a report regarding “to the maximum extent ascertainable” whether any interference attempts took place, and the nature of such interference, methods used, and who was involved and authorized such efforts.

The order also directs the U.S. government to impose automatic sanctions on foreign nations, individuals, and entities who are found to be involved in trying to interfere in U.S. elections.

Amanda Schoch, a spokeswoman for the office, said in a statement last week that “agencies have not finished coordinating on the product.”

“I think there might be some honest disagreements, but the overall trend is that China was substantially involved in our elections,” Chang said of the delay. “They did this with these malicious disinformation campaigns on the surface, with these troll and bot farm operations below the surface, they were involved and they’ve been involved for a very long time.”

The author also highlighted the danger of CCP infiltration within the American elite circle, suggesting that all institutions nationwide are being targeted by Beijing.

“It’s not just colleges and universities, it’s also prep schools, secondary schools, the foundations, NGOs. If there’s an institution in the U.S., China is targeting it,” Chang said. “China’s influence here is vast which means that we’ve got a lot of work to do to remove the CCP from our society, because they are certainly up to no good.”

“The danger is clear and present, and we’ve got to act immediately, because we don’t have much time to lose. Xi Jinping doesn’t talk about competing with us in the international system. He is floating these ideas that China has the mandate of heaven over all under heaven, and China actually acts like emperors of old, who believe that we’re the only sovereigns in the world, which means essentially that Americans are just subservient—we don’t have a country, we don’t sovereignty,” Chang continued.

“I know that sounds ludicrous, but we’ve got to listen to what Chinese leaders are actually saying. They are dropping hints that they should be considered the world’s only sovereigns. They’ve made it very clear, and we’ve just not been listening.”

“If we don’t change course, we’re going to lose our country, because China imposes existential risk to us, and if we don’t understand the fundamental nature of the challenge, we’re going to lose, and we’re going to lose our country,” he added.

Earlier this year, DNI John Ratcliffe said that the biggest threat to election security in the United States is the CCP.

“China poses a greater national security threat to the U.S. than any other nation—economically, militarily, and technologically. That includes threats of election influence and interference,” Ratcliffe said.

The intelligence official said Beijing was concerned that Trump will win reelection, adding that the intelligence community has briefed “hundreds of members of Congress” to raise their concerns about China “and its increased efforts to impact the U.S. policy climate in its favor.”

Ratcliffe told CBS earlier this month that there was foreign election interference by China, Iran, and Russia in November 2020.

“China is an economic threat and a technological threat. And that’s something that the United States hasn’t had to deal with before,” he said.

Krebs: SolarWinds Cyberattack ‘Happened On My Watch’

Former senior cybersecurity official Christopher Krebs said Sunday that the cyberattack against SolarWinds technology, which caused a breach of U.S. government systems, “happened on my watch.”

Krebs, who prior to his recent dismissal by President Donald Trump served as director of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) told CNN’s Jake Tapper that he believes the wide-scale cyberattack was conducted by Russia and was possible because of a “seam” in defenses.

SolarWinds technology is used by all five branches of the U.S. military, numerous government agencies and hundreds of Fortune 500 companies. The SolarWinds Orion platform was compromised.

Up to 18,000 customers of Texas-based SolarWinds were using the compromised Orion network, the company said in a recent filing. The company boasted of serving some 300,000 customers around the world in a partial customer listing it has since taken down.

Hackers used malicious code, or malware, to infiltrate systems that had uploaded updates to Orion earlier this year, according to the company and cyber experts.

Institutions suffering breaches include Microsoft, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Energy, spokespersons confirmed to The Epoch Times. Experts say the breaches started months ago.

Krebs said that he wasn’t aware of the cyberattack until it was detected earlier this month by FireEye, a cybersecurity firm that was itself compromised this month. The firm announced in a blog post that the hack could date back to March. It also said the hacked networks were communicating with a malicious domain name, avsmcloud.com.

“We missed it … a bunch of other folks missed it,” Krebs told host Tapper, noting that several government agencies had outdated systems that have not been “optimized” to proactively fend off unknown attacks.

Trump Fires CISA Director Days After Agency Dubbed Election ‘Most Secure in American History’

“This was a never-before-seen capability that computer systems weren’t designed to detect,” said Krebs, adding that Russia is “exceptionally good at this sort of work.”

Krebs admitted his “failure” to stop the cyberattack, saying: “It happened on my watch … but there is work to do now going forward to make sure A: we get past this, that we get the Russians out of the networks, but, B: that it never happens again.”

Several other U.S. officials have said they believe Russia is behind the cyberattack against SolarWinds, according to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

“I can’t say much more as we’re still unpacking precisely what it is, and I’m sure some of it will remain classified. But suffice it to say there was a significant effort to use a piece of third-party software to essentially embed code inside of U.S. government systems and it now appears systems of private companies and companies and governments across the world as well,” Pompeo told Mark Levin’s radio show on Friday.

“This was a very significant effort, and I think it’s the case that now we can say pretty clearly that it was the Russians that engaged in this activity.”

Pompeo added that President Donald Trump’s administration sees Russia as a threat, but China as a bigger problem.

“Vladimir Putin remains a real risk to those of us who love freedom, and we have to make sure that we prepare for each of them,” he said. “Today, I rank China as the challenge that truly presents an existential threat, but I don’t minimize the risk that having hundreds and hundreds of nuclear warheads capable of reaching the United States imposes—an enormous risk on us as well.”

President Donald Trump will again head to Georgia to campaign for Republican Senate candidates a day before a key runoff election that will determine which party controls the upper chamber.

“As badly as we were treated in Georgia by the ‘Republican’ Governor and ‘Republican’ Secretary of State, we must have a massive victory for two great people, @KLoeffler & @sendavidperdue, on January 5th,” Trump announced on Saturday. “I will be having a big Rally for them on Monday night, January 4th. WIN!”

The Jan. 5 runoff election will see Republican incumbents Sens. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) and David Perdue (R-Ga.) pit against Democratic candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

If Trump goes, it would be his second time traveling to the Peach State to rally support for the two senators. The president last campaigned in the state earlier this month.

Members of Trump’s family are also campaigning for Loeffler and Perdue, who both currently are projected to hold narrow leads over their opponents, according to RealClearPolitics data.

Donald Trump Jr. made an appearance at a rally in Georgia’s Catoosa County on Saturday urging voters to cast their votes early.

“Do not squander this opportunity,” said the president’s eldest son. “Because I promise you, you will regret it. You will wake up one day in January and say, ‘Crap. Should’ve done a little bit more.’ Whatever you would do to reverse that feeling then, do it now.”

Meanwhile, the first daughter and White House adviser Ivanka Trump is scheduled to travel around Georgia, starting Monday, to campaign for the senators. She plans to make stops in Milton, Suwanee, and Walton County, according to the Georgia GOP.

“She will highlight the historic accomplishments of the Trump Administration with the help of the Republican Senate Majority, along with the importance of voting in the Georgia runoff elections,” the Georgia Republican Party said in an emailed statement.

The Georgia race is key for both parties as it will determine the majority in the Senate. Republicans currently hold 50 seats, meaning that Democrats will need to win both races in Georgia and also prevail in the contested presidential election to gain control of the White House and both chambers of Congress.

Early voting is underway in the state. As of Dec. 19. more than 1.3 million Georgians have voted in the election, which is about 7 percent lower at a comparable point in the 2020 general election, according to Georgia Vote, a website that tracks the state’s voting turnout.

Georgia is one of the seven states in which its 2020 election results are being challenged by Republicans and the Trump campaign. Trump and third parties have launched various lawsuits in the state in an attempt to overturn the certification of the Democrat electors over concerns and allegations that votes were made under fraudulent and illegal circumstances.

In one of the cases, the Trump campaign filed an election contest alleging that several Georgia election officials committed “repeated violations of the election code” that “constituted an abandonment of the legislature’s duly enacted framework for conducting the election and for choosing presidential electors, contrary to Georgia law and the United States Constitution.”

The lawsuit is asking the court to declare that ineligible voters cast votes during the Nov. 3 election, void the results of the election, and order a new presidential election in the state, among other remedies.

60 Minutes forgot just one name in their 'backstory' on the vaccines

Citizens across the United States, and indeed the Western world, breathed a modest sigh of relief when, mere days after the election of 2020 was over, Pfizer roused itself to announce the much-needed availability of a Coronavirus vaccine they announced was shown to be 95% effective.

This week’s 60 Minutes devoted its first of three segments to the “rollout” of the CoVid-19 vaccine ‘backstory,’ which involves NYC-based Pfizer, of course, as well as smaller German pharma company, BioNTech, which in January solicited the partnership of the giant Pfizer in the development of the critically needed vaccine, in the face of the largest pandemic since 1918.

We listened several times to the broadcast. Notably to our ears we having worked for Pfizer for a number of years and thus having more than the average interest in a story involving a Pfizer triumph while we heard, exactly once, the presenter of the segment, Bill Whitaker, drop the term “…in keeping with Project Warp Speed…” the name of President Donald Trump was somehow not mentioned even in passing. Not even once.

Of course, President Trump was not in the lab, concocting amplifications on molecules used in the development of a viable vaccine. But his foot on the pedal of urgency is well-known, and helped produce the remarkable development of not one, but several, plausible vaccines against this Chinese developed agency of death. Another pharma company, Moderna, has also just gotten the greenlight from the American FDA for distribution of their vaccine.

The host, 60 Minutes’ staffer Bill Whitaker, mentioned several times that though the vaccine was a success story, the “rollout” was at issue, because the modalities needed to deliver the Pfizer vaccine are somewhat arduous for small-town hospitals or out of the way recipients to receive the vaccine. Refrigeration needs to be steady at -80*F, which omits the many hospitals or clinics that don’t have the necessary refrigeration units in their facilities. The PFE vaccine, unlike the Moderna one, is given in a two-shot: one dose followed, some months later, by the second dose.

Fox News aired claims by Sidney Powell and others that there’s a link between Dominion voting machines and Smartmatic, which provides voting software. Lou Dobbs describes Perez as one of the “leading authorities on open-source software for elections” and “the global director of tech development at Open Source Technology Institute.” Dobbs explains, “we asked him for his assessment of Smartmatic and recent claims about the company.”

Although there’s a Fox Business chyron, the interview is unusual. While the camera focuses on Perez, an off-camera voice asks a series of questions that are displayed on the screen, with Perez than responding.

Perez has no first-hand knowledge. He recites information he’s heard from other sources.

In January 2020, an article on Congressional testimony about voting systems (including Dominion) being vulnerable to manipulation refers to a phone interview with Eddie Perez:

Eddie Perez, global director of technology research and development at the OSET Institute, said in a phone interview that while it's important to get industry on record supporting increased reporting requirements, he's skeptical whether the companies plan to follow through absent federal enforcement.

He argued many of the other proposed changes discussed in the hearing would not meaningfully address the fundamental, systemic problems that plague the industry and inhibit better security practices, namely the consolidation of voting machine production across just three vendors and a plodding system for testing and certifying machines. (Emphasis mine.)

In November, however, Perez had this to say:

There have been only a “small handful” of issues that were the result of human error involving voting technology, not the software itself, said Eddie Perez, a voting technology expert at the OSET Institute, a nonpartisan election technology research and development nonprofit.

The OSET Institute has helped monitor more than 1,000 reports of voting issues throughout the U.S. since Election Day.

Perez said he was not aware of any systemic issue related to problems with Dominion software that would affect the tabulation of results. (Emphasis mine.)

About Smartmatic: Antonio Mugica, Alfredo José Anzola, and Roger Piñate founded Smartmatic in 1997 in Caracas, Venezuela, the year before Hugo Chavez was elected. It’s now headquartered in London and Mugica is the CEO.

Piñate was the COO in 2014. That’s the year that Piñate and Mugica joined Smartmatic’s new parent company – SGO – along with Lord Mark Malloch-Brown, and Sir Nigel Knowles. Malloch-Brown was the original chairman of the board but is now president of George Soros’s Open Society Foundations. The board currently consists of Piñate, Mugica, and Knowles.

At the time he helped form SGO and joined its board, Knowles was the global CEO of DLA Piper, retiring in 2016. Doug Emhoff (Mr. Kamala) joined DLA Piper in 2017. There is no Wikipedia page for SGO. Anzola died in a plane crash in Venezuela in 2008.

In 2015, during an interview, Mark Malloch-Brown acknowledged that Smartmatic and Dominion had entered into a limited licensing agreement:

Report: Social Media Manipulation Affects Even US Senators

The conversation taking place on the verified social media accounts of two U.S. senators remained vulnerable to manipulation, even amid heightened scrutiny in the run up to the U.S. presidential election, an investigation by the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence found.

Researchers from the center, a NATO-accredited research group based in Riga, Latvia, paid three Russian companies 300 euros ($368) to buy 337,768 fake likes, views and shares of posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok, including content from verified accounts of Sens. Chuck Grassley and Chris Murphy.

Grassley’s office confirmed that the Republican from Iowa participated in the experiment. Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat, said in a statement that he agreed to participate because it's important to understand how vulnerable even verified accounts are.

“We’ve seen how easy it is for foreign adversaries to use social media as a tool to manipulate election campaigns and stoke political unrest," Murphy said. “It’s clear that social media companies are not doing enough to combat misinformation and paid manipulation on their own platforms and more needs to be done to prevent abuse.”

In an age when much public debate has moved online, widespread social media manipulation not only distorts commercial markets, it is also a threat to national security, NATO StratCom director Janis Sarts told The Associated Press.

“These kinds of inauthentic accounts are being hired to trick the algorithm into thinking this is very popular information and thus make divisive things seem more popular and get them to more people. That in turn deepens divisions and thus weakens us as a society,” he explained.

More than 98% of the fake engagements remained active after four weeks, researchers found, and 97% of the accounts they reported for inauthentic activity were still active five days later.

NATO StratCom did a similar exercise in 2019 with the accounts of European officials. They found that Twitter is now taking down inauthentic content faster and Facebook has made it harder to create fake accounts, pushing manipulators to use real people instead of bots, which is more costly and less scalable.

“We’ve spent years strengthening our detection systems against fake engagement with a focus on stopping the accounts that have the potential to cause the most harm,” a Facebook company spokesperson said in an email.

But YouTube and Facebook-owned Instagram remain vulnerable, researchers said, and TikTok appeared “defenseless.”

“The level of resources they spend matters a lot to how vulnerable they are,” said Sebastian Bay, the lead author of the report. “It means you are unequally protected across social media platforms. It makes the case for regulation stronger. It’s as if you had cars with and without seatbelts.”

Researchers said that for the purposes of this experiment they promoted apolitical content, including pictures of dogs and food, to avoid actual impact during the U.S. election season.

Ben Scott, executive director of Reset.tech, a London-based initiative that works to combat digital threats to democracy, said the investigation showed how easy it is to manipulate political communication and how little platforms have done to fix long-standing problems.

“What’s most galling is the simplicity of manipulation,” he said. “Basic democratic principles of how societies make decisions get corrupted if you have organized manipulation that is this widespread and this easy to do.”

Twitter said it proactively tackles platform manipulation and works to mitigate it at scale.

“This is an evolving challenge and this study reflects the immense effort that Twitter has made to improve the health of the public conversation,” Yoel Roth, Twitter’s head of site integrity, said in an email.

YouTube said it has put in place safeguards to root out inauthentic activity on its site, and noted that more than 2 million videos were removed from the site in the third quarter of 2020 for violating its spam policies.

“We’ll continue to deal with attempts to abuse our systems and share relevant information with industry partners,” the company said in a statement.

TikTok said it has zero tolerance toward inauthentic behavior on its platform and that it removes content or accounts that promote spam or fake engagement, impersonation or misleading information that may cause harm.

“We’re also investing in third-party testing, automated technology, and comprehensive policies to get ahead of the ever-evolving tactics of people and organizations who aim to mislead others,” a company spokesperson said in an email.

Julian Assange: What you need to know about the WikiLeaks founder

The Australian-born whistle-blower is fighting a court battle in the UK against extradition to the US on espionage charges.

WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange is facing extradition to the US from the UK.

The US has charged him with hacking government computers and espionage after he obtained and published hundreds of thousands of classified documents between 2010 and 2011.

A decision on his extradition is expected to be announced on January 4.

Here is what you need to know:

Who is Julian Assange?

Assange is an Australian-born computer programmer and founder of WikiLeaks – an international, non-profit whistle-blowing organisation that was created in Iceland in 2006.

The 48-year-old, a father, is WikiLeaks’ publisher and former editor-in-chief. In 2018, Icelandic journalist Kristinn Hrafnsson took over as editor.

Assange came to prominence in mid-2010 after WikiLeaks published US military logs from Afghanistan and Iraq, and US cable leaks in November that year.

Former US military personnel Chelsea Manning sent the information to Assange.

Manning was charged and sentenced to 35 years imprisonment in 2013 for violating the Espionage Act of 1917, and other offences.

The Espionage Act was passed to deter any interference in US military operations and prevent individuals and groups from supporting enemies of the United States.

Manning’s sentence was commuted in January 2017, days before then-US President Barack Obama left office.

What did WikiLeaks reveal?

WikiLeaks shot to fame in April 2010 after the website released a 39-minute video of a US military Apache helicopter firing over and killing more than a dozen Iraqis, including two Reuters journalists.

The footage leaked by private Manning led to global outrage, reigniting a debate over the US’s occupation of Iraq and wider presence in the Middle East.

In July that year, WikiLeaks, together with several media outlets, such as the New York Times, published more than 90,000 US military documents related to the War in Afghanistan.

These included previously unreported details about civilian deaths, friendly-fire casualties, US air raids, al-Qaeda’s role in the country, and nations providing support to Afghan leaders and the Taliban.

In November 2010, WikiLeaks published hundreds of thousands of US diplomatic cables, in what is now better known as the Cablegate scandal.

Some 250,000 reports were released, dating back to 1996 up until February 2010. The cables provided analysis and insights from more than 270 US embassies and consulates from around the world.

What is Assange charged with?

After Assange was arrested, a grand jury in the state of Virginia charged him with one count of computer intrusion/hacking for allegedly assisting Private Manning in accessing classified documents.

In May 2019, Assange was further charged – under the US Espionage Act of 1917 – on 17 counts for soliciting, gathering and publishing US military and diplomatic documents in 2010, all provided by Manning.

Assange is the first publisher to be charged under the act.

The leaks highlighted in the indictment include the US diplomatic cables, information on Guantanamo Bay prison detainees and Iraq and Afghanistan activity reports.

Extradition between the UK and the US is rare.

In 2012, a request from the US to extradite UK hacker Gary Mackinnon for hacking into US military databases was rejected. Similarly, the US refused a request from the UK earlier this year to hand over Anna Sachoolas, the wife of a US intelligence officer accused of killing a British citizen due to dangerous driving.

What happened to the sexual assault charges against him in Sweden?

The US indictment against Assange does not include any charges of rape, of which he was accused of by two Swedish women in 2010. Assange has repeatedly denied the accusations.

A Swedish court issued an international warrant for his arrest in 2010 so he could be extradited back to the nordic country. After being released on bail in the UK, Assange was granted asylum at the Ecuadorian embassy in June 2012 by then-President Rafael Correa, where he resided for nearly seven years.

On November 19, 2019, all rape charges against Assange were dropped.

Why is this case important?According to rights groups, Assange’s possible extradition and sentencing in the US would be a serious threat to free-speech rights and to the work of investigative journalists around the world.

Amnesty International has said the effect of Assange being convicted on investigative journalists, publishers and anyone who publishes classified government material would be “immediate and severe”.

US lawyers argue that charges against Assange could be challenged under the US’s First Amendment law, which protects the right to freedom of speech and expression.

The American Left Has Now Fully Embraced Racism

For decades, the American left has helped spread various insidious forms of Marxism. Now, it's openly embracing abject racism.

A Rubicon has been crossed in American political discourse. Long purveyors of Marxism, the nation’s leftists have now come to fully embrace something else; racism. Just in the last week in the areas of medicine, education, and journalism, well-intentioned institutional racists have insisted — as is increasingly their habit — that skin color is and must be the defining element of our public policies.

There is no issue more important to the future and soul of our nation right now than the leftist bigotry threatening the very concept of what it means to be an American.

On the medical side, Dr. Harald Schmidt, a supposed expert on ethics and health policy at the University of Pennsylvania, told the New York Times that essential workers, not the elderly, should be the first to receive COVID-19 vaccines. His reason? “Older populations are whiter,” he told the publication. “Society is structured in a way that enables them to live longer. Instead of giving additional health benefits to those who already had more of them, we can start to level the playing field a bit.”To be clear, the term “level the playing field” here means allowing people to die because of the color of their skin.

What’s amazing about this is that just months ago to even question the efficacy of lockdowns meant to stop the spread of COVID-19 was met with accusations that one was killing grandma. Now, it doesn’t matter because grandma is probably white.

Nothing, it seems, is more important than protecting the lives of the oldest among us, except for fighting racism. The great irony of course is that the lockdowns themselves have disproportionately destroyed minority-owned businesses. Yet, for the Marxists on the radical left, this doesn’t matter. They don’t fight racism by giving people tools to lift themselves up, they purport to do it by making people dependent on the state.

Next, in outrageous racism infecting our educational system, this week, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio announced sweeping changes to the way in the city’s top public schools consider applicants in an attempt to diversify, or as some unhinged proponents of his plan put it, “desegregate” these schools. Essentially, admissions will focus less on grades and more on skin color.

The dirty little secret of his proposal is that it is Asian students, not white students, who dominate admissions to these schools and who will bear the brunt of de Blasio’s abject racism.

There is also a further deeply condescending and racist aspect of this approach. It simply accepts that there is nothing we can do to help black and brown students achieve except put our thumb on the scale. De Blasio and his racist allies like School Chancellor Richard Carranza would argue that systems of white supremacy are responsible for the achievement gaps, but if so, how do they explain the success of Asian students, and why are they being punished?

Finally, from the wonderful world of journalism, we have an argument from two authors at Harvard’s Nieman Lab that suggests reporting on crime is racist:

It’s racist, classist, fear-based clickbait masking as journalism. It creates lasting harm for the communities that newsrooms are supposed to serve. And because it so rarely meets the public’s needs, it’s almost never newsworthy, despite what Grizzled Gary in his coffee-stained shirt says from his perch at the copy desk.

Here we see a classic example of progressive white racism tinged with deadly paternalism. What’s the real problem with crime? Is it that murders are skyrocketing across America, with the victims disproportionately black and brown? No, discussing that makes white progressives uncomfortable. Indeed, they would much rather indulge absurd fantasies about “defund the police” initiatives lowering crime than actually try to save lives in minority communities. And now, they don’t even think the media should report on those deaths.

This sort of racism will get people killed. If reporters simply ignore crimes in minority areas for fear of being racist — including the murders of children — the problem will persist. More kids of color will have their lives snuffed out but understand, that is the price we have to pay for white progressives to feel good about themselves.

All three of these examples of dangerous racism occurred in one week. One week. All stem from the pernicious concept of critical race theory, a demonstrably racist set of ideas Democrats want to drill into the heads of all-white government employees except, apparently, Joe Biden, who to my knowledge has never undergone this vital training (strange, given that his own Vice President-elect has openly called him a racist).

There is no more important fight for conservatives today than battling the racism of the American left. And as is often the case with effective battle plans this one is quite simple. We must call for people not to be judged or treated differently solely on the basis of the color of their skin. That shouldn’t be a controversial concept, but it is.

Let’s be clear, this isn’t an academic or ephemeral disagreement between the left and the right. It is an existential fight against abject racism. It is a fight we must not only engage in but embrace. The very future of our nation depends on it.

Eruption Reported At Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano

The U.S. Geological Survey said an eruption that started Sunday night at the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii's Big Island is unleashing plumes of smoke into the air with concerns about ashfall.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu warned residents in surrounding communities about excessive exposure to ash could result in eye and respiratory issues.

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) posted an update on its website calling the situation "rapidly evolving" and said communities around Kilauea's summit and rift zones to "be prepared."

Pictures and videos of the eruption have been uploaded to social media, showing "the western rim of Kīlauea Caldera. Lava is erupting from a fissure in the NW wall of Halemaʻumaʻu crater and cascading into the deepest part of the crater, which had been occupied by a water lake (now replaced with a growing lava lake)," tweeted USGS Volcanoes.

According to KITV4 Island News, an earthquake was reported at the start of the eruption. Here are the first images of the eruption, courtesy of EpicLava.

"We have an amazing eruption going on right now," said one person near the volcano.

Jason Cong:

ASON CONG received his B.S. degree in computer science from Peking University in 1985, his M.S. and Ph. D. degrees in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1987 and 1990, respectively.

Dr. Cong’s research interests include synthesis of VLSI circuits and systems, programmable systems, novel computer architectures, nano-systems, and highly scalable algorithms.
