He’s never had to deal with a student loan in his life but is giving advice on how to deal with student loans

Depending on the field you’re going into and your career goals, oftentimes college is the best choice by far. You’re not going to get recruited by McKinsey or bridgewater or Goldman in your early 20s by watching khan academy and not making connections/getting to learn the landscape

You’re not going to get your MD or PhD any quicker by self-teaching either

Boomer admissions officers want to see degrees and recommendations from verifiable sources

If you’re a good computer programmer or really skilled artist and don’t have the funds than a 4yr college might not be the smartest choice

But in most cases college is a smart choice, even today. That might not be the case in 10-15 years

Not everyone aims to be a lifelong scam artist like Sam

>best choice by far

It's the best choice if you just want to make money, but at what spiritual and mental cost? This is coming from someone who is being forced to go to college and already changed their major twice.

The degrees that make money will turn you into a social autist if you're not a natural socialite and will drive you closer to suicide. College isn't hard in terms of physical work, but it's essentially a psychic torture chamber that will wear you down.

>good computer programmer or really skilled artist and don’t have the funds than a 4yr college might not be the smartest choice

I think if you actually have talent college is a good choice. I like how you specifically put "good" on programming and "really skilled" on art, because in reality it's the opposite. ANYONE can be a good programmer, programming is fucking easy and has a low threshold of skill to be employable. Programming is the mental equivalent of coal mining. Art is something that is hard for a person without talent to be "good" at, although it has a massive fucking skill cap.

I'd say go to college if you already have developed a skill to an employable level, because you can support yourself while doing it, you get a huge leg-up on classes, and you get to refine that skill even further.

If you are coming out of highschool and you don't have a semi-developed skill, college will not fix that.

I fucking did computer programming (engineering really) for over 5 years of my life and 2 years academically, I can tell you that the field is lucrative but soul-killing. 99.9% of people can program functionally but are not actually suited to be programmers (this is a huge problem in the industry right now because a majority of the devs are literally fucking retarded; look at how shitty and unoptimized the software for companies like microsoft, google, amazon, etc. it's not intentionally designed like that, there is an incompetency crisis) to be a truly competent programmer you need to be a John Carmack/Terry Davis tier autist, you need to have a devotion and passion that your average failed normalfag who was pressured into compsci because they were nerdy doesn't. I gave up on this shit because I realized despite my own idiosyncrasies I wasn't enough of a savant to do this shit. There's something bout programming where you have to be lacking in some areas of your life to excel at it. Just genius doesn't cut it.

College isn't a "smart" choice, something around 30-40% of zoomers are now going to university. Again if you're paying for it then there's a 90% chance that you shouldn't go. If your parents are paying for it there's a 40% chance you shouldn't go (that is assuming they won't just give you the money instead). There is this honestly predatory stigma about not going to college which can really ruin somebody's life. These students are fucking KIDs, man, they don't know what they're getting into.

There's certain loopholes and ways out. My parents are forcing me to get a degree so I just changed my major to forestry, which I love.

Fuck making money and fuck anyone who tries to pressure you into doing shit for it. A lot of people get pushed into STEM even though they aren't really passionate for it, and it's a fucking disgrace. White collar jobs are SHIT and if your career plan involves sitting in a chair for hours a day I truly pity you. Imagine fucking slaving away for 4 years to slave away for 40 years just because you wanted a salary that's ten or twenty thousand more a year.

That's the boomer mindset in my opinion, they would rather make their kids rob themselves of life fulfillment for them to make more money.

College is free here but I really just don't know what I should study. My parents would like some engineering or finance program but they wont force me into anything. I feel like I can't figure out what's right for me and what path to take.

But yeah you're right. College makes sense for STEM people and fields where you literally need a degree (medicine, law, architecture, teacher) only. People who want to succeed in creative fields or just anything non-traditional (animation, video making, acting, design, …) would probably be better off using those years for getting experience and work.

That's not what I said at all.

Let me break it down for you:

>STEM is worthless if you're not an actual, literal autist gub gub test tube snail man who gets erotic pleasure form math

>Art is worthless unless you actually have talent (99.9% of people don't)

>Business is worthless unless you already have connections

The only worthwhile degrees are the ones that are focuses on trades. I recommend you do Forestry like me because it is essentially a lower-intensity better-compensated blue-collar job. Plus almost everyone has a latent passion for the outdoors so you'd probably like it. The highest math Forestry requires at my uni (which has one of the best forestry schools in the country) is precalc and statistics.

College isn’t the best choice for everyone but it’s still generally the best track for young people to figure out possible career paths and become properly socialized.

>College isn't hard in terms of physical work, but it's essentially a psychic torture chamber that will wear you down.

Good. Weed em out. I’m a masochist and crave 14 hour study sessions.

Jokes aside, the years from ages ~18-22 are rough in some way for most people. You’ll go through bouts of depression and self-doubt no matter where you are. You’ll probably have at least one relationship or traumatic life event that’ll present roadblocks. It’s part of growing up, not necessarily college itself.

>If you are coming out of highschool and you don't have a semi-developed skill, college will not fix that.

>These students are fucking KIDs, man, they don't know what they're getting into.

Most “kids” (including Sam’s core audience) lack the self-discipline and maturity to develop a marketable skill immediately after high school without structure, guidance, and accountability. It’s much more likely those kids will end up slouching around their parents’ houses or on friends’ couches smoking weed, playing video games, and supporting their mild addictions with various food service and retail jobs throughout their 20s. That’s time you’ll never get back.

>The degrees that make money will turn you into a social autist if you're not a natural socialite and will drive you closer to suicide.

>Fuck making money and fuck anyone who tries to pressure you into doing shit for it.

>White collar jobs are SHIT and if your career plan involves sitting in a chair for hours a day I truly pity you.

You understand it’s completely normal for young people to think this way at one point or another, right? Grow up and realize that we don’t live in some freak hippie world where everyone can make a comfortable living off their dream job.

Even people you might see as cogs in the corporate machine are often acutely cognizant of how soul-killing our society is (toxic air and water, endless strip malls, and debt slavery…). Sam Hyde and his fans aren’t unique in that way.

Absorb that harsh fact of reality. Then you can choose to either

A) be a parasitic leech like Sam and scam your way through life, preaching about the superiority of your lifestyle to people who could NEVER pull that off (99.9% of them at least)

B) get a basic job and make an honest living like a decent person. Do whatever you can depending on how motivated/skilled you are. There’d be no McD’s or Starbucks drive-thru or 24hr gas stations without those people greasing the wheels of society.

C) decide to exit society— join an isolated cult or become a survivalist/subsistence farmer (you might get Ruby Ridge’d)

Or, ideally,

D) be motivated enough to make sacrifices and use delayed gratification/consistent hard work to eventually gain a position in society where you can be a positive force for change. This requires some luck and won’t always be pleasant. No one feels happy and fulfilled all the time.

>My parents are forcing me to get a degree so I just changed my major to forestry, which I love.

Genuinely that’s great— it takes some people a while to figure out a career that doubles as a channel for their passions (or that they simply enjoy).

Obviously college debt is a massive societal sin and if I weren’t against the death penalty then I’d be the first one volunteering to sharpen the guillotine. But a lot of people can make it through and end up in a better situation. That’s an individual decision.

> Grow up and realize that we don’t live in some freak hippie world where everyone can make a comfortable living off their dream job.

Yes you can, 90% of jobs right now aren't actually necessary - the entire service and food prep industry could have been automated over 60 years ago but society NEEDS people working. These jobs literally exist to placate you, they are nothing-jobs that contribute nothing to society. They are quite literally bread and circus.

Our world is mostly contrived in that way, everything is "propped-up" like a supermarket in soviet russia. There is enough wealth already (without even being redistributed) for people to live a comfortable life doing absolutely nothing; That's because the industrial revolution has raised living standards so much even our homeless live better than medieval kings. We aren't post-scarcity yet, but we're certainly post-necessity.

The "cogs" you refer to aren't even cogs, they are scrap metal that the machine picks up and spins around to make them think they're cogs, just to placate them so they don't get stuck between the actual gears.

Your life doesn't matter, no matter what you do. The actual required work needed to upkeep society is infinitesimal when subdued by technology and divided among such a bloated population.

You can work as a cop for 40 years and make no impact. You can be an office drone for 50 years and make no impact. You can fucking flip burgers till the end of the goddamn millennium and make absolutely zero impact on anything. All of this, all of everything you see around you is just an illusion, a game of shadows. We don't live in real society anymore, because society has become a tool of a larger metapolitk. I

You call people "leeches" and talk about change, as if there's something bigger to affect. There's nothing.

The metapolitik consumes everything now. Sam's right when he says you have to "stop thinking like a goy". You must game the system, get the most you can out of it while keeping yourself sane. You need to take the system and carve out your own lifestyle.

Don't look at salary when looking for a job. Find out how far away you can live from a city in that field. Find out how much you can learn about survival in that field. Find out how much exercise you'll be passively getting in that field. Find out tolerably off-the-grid you can get in that field. Find out how spiritually fulfilled you can get in that field.

>Sam's right when he says you have to "stop thinking like a goy". You must game the system, get the most you can out of it while keeping yourself sane.

Do you think Sam is sane? Do you think he’s more fulfilled than say a pediatrician or electrician? Who spends more time sitting in a chair, staring at a screen? He drives to McDonalds in his gas-guzzling vehicle then back to his computer to beg for more money to buy more gas-guzzling vehicles and tech toys. Who’s the goy? Has he really carved himself out of society or his he just one of hundreds of thousands of Internet personalities looking for cash?

>Don't look at salary when looking for a job.

>Find out how spiritually fulfilled you can get in that field.

Yeah, I agree

As far as the imminent tech apocalypse goes, I’m inclined to believe there’s still some hope. We might get flattened and trampled by third-worlders and go through a dark age but there’ll be something on the other side. Living with a dark mentality won’t help anything

Going to sleep now

>College isn’t the best choice for everyone but it’s still generally the best track for young people to figure out possible career paths and become properly socialized.

I heavily disagree with the socializing part. This should happen (and mostly does happen) in high school really. Less people, you basically know everyone, you get to join sports/clubs, find your niche, develope some social skills considering friends and dating (hopefully)… college is way too anonymous to get socialized. I'd even go as far it has a negative effect unless you've already been socialized in school because college gives you the opportunity to shut yourself off completely. I know so many guys who now live alone, basically only go to classes and spend the rest of their college time sitting in their dorm room simply because college doesn't force you to meet and talk to people. The only people who have a great social life in college are the ones who already got socialized in high school. I barely know anyone who really changed after high school. People remain mostly the same, they just develope further into whats already there.

I agree that college can be a good choice though, wether for yourself only or because you want to help society in some way. I just don't like the tendency that people feel like they HAVE to go to college. That's like step one in their thought process when trying to figure out what to actually do with their lives instead of really asking themselves what their interests and passions are, AND THEN look into if college would help getting their faster/easier.

Obviously some people need a college degree to work in some positions and industries but the amount of people getting degrees from film or acting school and then wondering why they're unsuccessful is huge. Another big problem is people going to college just for the sake of going, that's how we end up with engineers who NEVER would have become engineers even 10 years ago but nowadays it's just some bro tier field you just kinda pick if you have no idea where else to go.

I don't think Sam ever really mentions it but I feel like he's talking about creative fields when shittalking college. People who want to become writers, photographers, film makers, etc. and think some bs degree will advance them. It's even worse when I hear about people who already know they wont need their degree and just study crap like english literature to make their parents happy, only to completely switch fields afterwards. Even if you're rich or your education is free, you'll never get those 3 years back. That's the boomer mindset. I know multiple guys my age (21) who have escaped that mentality and basically started their own company fresh out of high school. In the current year this is so easy compared to just 25 years ago. The internet alone offers you all the knowledge and space for marketing you need and you don't even have to go into huge debt to start a company nowadays. Skills beat everything else and you'll barely get skills in college if you want to do independent/creative shit.

Disregarding the whole college thing, his advice/view on the 1000 bucks a month thing is retarded. What kind of pea brain can't just sell a motorcycle or handle this 700 a month appartment on the side? That shit can be done while doing real work and I don't buy the whole "not worth his time" thing. He once said he's putting in 7k a month on all MDE related shit and barely breaks even. Let's be nice and say it's 10k. 1000$ is still a substantial amount then, even if he laughs it off like "but that's 4 Xboxes dude". Reasonable people who make 10k a month with a real job don't shit on 1000$. That's 200 new gumroad subscribers, which is probably his main income right now and I don't think he would decline those. That adds up to 12k a year. If you're barely breaking even this amount of money is worth the hassle, especially if you're a money focused person like Sam. He talks about the psychic stress and time wasted if he chose to handle that shit but I personally would work way less efficient if I knew the first 1000$ I make every month are basically worthless and only to catch up. At least tell someone to handle it all and pay him the 1000 once, you're still getting more money at the end of it than now.

2- You’re absolutely correct that there’s no logical reason to pay rent on an unused apartment for so long. He could’ve taken one or two days to get up early and clear it out but he’s too lazy. Maybe he didn’t want his assistants rifling through his stuff. Either way he can’t admit it was stupid so he has to do mental gymnastics to convince himself that wasting tens of thousands of dollars out of sheer laziness isn’t bad because that’s something a rich person would do (lol). Indeed. As much as I like Sam due to all the smiles he brought me, I'm entirely convinced we're paying to see a man collapse on himself due to his abhorrent, mental-illness-ridden kike genes. His game will either die before anything comes out of it, or it'll just be a shitshow which will then be a last straw for him. I hope I'm wrong, but his mental gymnatics in justifying his retarded behaviour is becoming tiring, and frankly, quite fucking sad.
