I think it would be better handled this time since there is a primary conflict early on in the form of Gappy's amnesia. That, as far as I can tell, won't be fully fleshed out until the chapters in the 40s or 50s. Which by then people complain about the lack of a main antagonist showing up. Either way, we're not going that high. I just wanted everyone to be up to the same speed I am which is basically what you already know.

He's not bad at writing stories, at least compared to most mangaka, he just prioritizes the art and style first and writes the story based on what weird stuff he thought of or wants to draw. The author of Bleach, Tite Kubo, is not much different, but he's a somewhat worse writer.
Araki's main weakness in writing is that he has a hard time remembering what he previously wrote, so there is a lack of consistency. This is made worse by the brutal mangaka schedule of having to churn out content week after week and what I mentioned earlier about him writing based on whims.
This may hurt the overarching story, but he does build a narrative that is very compelling moment to moment. Even part 5, the weakest part for us, was still interesting to read just because of this strength.
I say 5 is the weakest, but it did quite strongly in Japan so you might think differently. For the record, the most popular part of all time was 3, Stardust Crusaders.

You don't really need to with MGR, but it helps. The only detail that is important is from MGS4. Which is: SOP, or the Sons of the Patriots, was a computer system that controlled information and filter bubbles all over the world. It allowed for proxy war after proxy war to continue endlessly. That system was destroyed at the end of MGS4 which directly affects the story of MGR.
Otherwise the MC of MGR is the same as MGS2, who was panned for being kind of a pussy so when MGS4 rolled around he was written as a badass cyborg ninja. He was also a child soldier in Liberia or whatever.

Here's the thing to remember: It may be hollywood garbage, but it was funded by Chinese Jews. I don't really care about "whitewashing" in this case because Major and her crew already looked pretty white. Getting nationalities wrong in Avatar The Last Airbender? Super annoying because the culture was a part of the charm. But when it came to certain characters like Major I didn't mind. Like, here's how he's drawn in Stand Alone Complex. In Arise he's pretty Asian, which is fine, but then in Ghost in the Shit they dropped his awesome mullet and made him look super generic. When pulling this I remembered that they also changed Ishikawa to a fucking nigger.
They also fucked up Batou's hair, which was a simple military buzz cut or similar. Instead they gave him Edward Cullen hair.

Unfortunately Araki specifically stated that Part 8 and Part 4 will never cross streams. Though I don't trust half of his statements anyways so take it with a grain of salt.
He said he planned on part 3 not having Hamon from the beginning and that DIO's stand was the first designed and other such nonsense.
