Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap Edition
Steel Ball Run (スティール・ボール・ラン Sutīru Bōru Ran) is the seventh part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2004 and in Ultra Jump between 2005 and 2011.
Set in the U.S. in 1890, the story follows Johnny Joestar, a paraplegic ex-jockey, and Gyro Zeppeli, master in a mystic art named the Spin, as they compete with a vast number of others in the Steel Ball Run race: a mad-dash across America for a grand prize of 50 million dollars.

ZA WARUDO aside, i mean he straight up names the characters Joestar and Zepelli, to say nothing of Brando, Avdol, and later Higashikata. Also, rather than making a bunch of interesting combat styles or other supernatural phenomena, he dives right back into stands after a point. If he really didn't want this to be JoJo7, he could have not done so much to tie it back into the series.

I don't really like the dads inclusion here. It's so random, Johnny probably doesn't care that much, and it distracts from the fight with DIO.

Everyone seems a lot quicker on the uptake in this part. Maybe even a little too much. Like when Johnny surmised D4C's abilities after seeing it once. Which, I have to say is more enjoyable than the alternative even if it's also kinda BS.

I also think it's kinda funny that Araki started peppering his speech bubbles with little emojis to help people follow along I guess?

It's super funny. When I saw part 3 for the first time I was thinking "C'mon Joseph, we all know you're smarter than this."
>noticed that in the fight with the prez, kind of cool
I didn't like it in there because it was a bit distracting and silly for the that situation.

Joseph was already a bit senile in part 3 I guess, he should have done better against D'Arby or DIO.

Ya it was a odd place for him to start that.

I can only imagine Gyro chuckling in the afterlife at Johnny using the spin on his corpse to fuck with those pencil pushers.
Also that girl there, next to Norisuke, is named Rina Higashikata. Her and Johnny will hook up and preserve the Joestar bloodline, but I can only think of all the bugbites she's going to have to endure over the years for him.

It is weird. Especially since Steel declining Lucy would have seemed to indicate that, among other little things.
Makafag whenever you can rub two fiber optics together feel free to post your thoughts here. Same for Croner, whenever you come out of hiding. In the mean time I'm dumping two chapters of JoJolion here >>9954

Just finished it, easily my favorite Jojo part out of all of them, i'm glad Araki came back to form plus more after the terrible part 5 and the average part 6. I actually REALLY liked this part so i'll take my time to nitpick.
The corpse's power was cool but definitely didn't live up to all the hype it was given, D4C's power seemed cooler tbh. Speaking of D4C that shit was amazing but the fact that it has access to infinite worlds leads to so many what ifs, one that bothered me a lot was the fact that valentine only brought a couple of clones of himself over instead of an army or some advanced weaponry.
Dio was great this part and i'm glad he wasn't screwed over like avdol was, though i would've liked to see him turn more people into dinosaurs like in his first appearance. Alternate dimenesion Dio coming back with The World was so amazing but here >>9826 Dio got behind Johnny but chose not to kill him then and there? Anyway I was kinda worried cause I thought Araki was gonna nerf The World somehow to make Johnny win but he didn't and still ended up delivering a good fight so I'm happy. Thought I didn't like how The World looks now since its not buff and instead looks like a little bitch, that can be blamed on the art direction shift that happend in part 4 however. One thing that REALLY bothered me was the fact that Valentine told Dio to make Johnny hit himself with the infinite rotation, Valentine knew one of the only people in the world who could stop the infinite rotation was Johnny himself(so much so that he ended up trying to bargain with him) so the fact that he told Dio to trap Johnny with it boggles my mind.
Something else I didn't like was Valentine's conclusion. Johnny was actually going to believe him and let him go but Valentine went full retard and decided to try and shoot him. Even if that worked and Johnny ends up dead why would the infinite rotation stop? And lets say it did stop, is Araki implying when Johnny dies of old age Valentine will finally be free of infinite rotation? Valentine might not be immortal but he has access to infinite other dimensions and i'm sure he can find ones where he was born later thus making him younger. Also the fact that Valentine didn't just find an alternate universe Johnny that was evil who would end up freeing him seems like a big plothole. idk the fact that Araki says D4C has access to infinite other worlds just makes it to OP to EVER lose. Especially if Valentine is stuck in a hole and has as much prep time as he wants.
Overall it was amazing and Gyro's death was probably the best one in the entire series. I highly doubt next part lives up to how great this one was and i'm already so behind on that one so i think i'll end up skipping it for now. I'll be here when we start the next manga though.

>Speaking of D4C that shit was amazing but the fact that it has access to infinite worlds leads to so many what ifs, one that bothered me a lot was the fact that valentine only brought a couple of clones of himself over instead of an army or some advanced weaponry.
that would be cool, one of Arakis biggest problems in my opinion is that he never gos far enough with his ideas. Though it was nice to see The World.
>Something else I didn't like was Valentine's conclusion. Johnny was actually going to believe him and let him go but Valentine went full retard and decided to try and shoot him.
that was really annoying

I honestly thought Love Train was going to be an army of Valentines based on the name and an inconsequential tidbit from a conversation with a friend. Your other points touch on this too, but it's just unfortunate that Araki writes a cool power and does not explore it properly. I think Echoes was the worst offender of this, and despite that I still really enjoyed him and D4C. I love Gappy, but he kinda has this issue too.
>Valentine told Dio to make Johnny hit himself with the infinite rotation, Valentine knew one of the only people in the world who could stop the infinite rotation was Johnny himself(so much so that he ended up trying to bargain with him) so the fact that he told Dio to trap Johnny with it boggles my mind.
Eh. Yeah. To be fair that did work though, DIO got the corpse to the vault and if Johnny wasn't Norisuke Ex Machina'd then he'd be dead and even after still wasn't the one to stop DIO.
>Something else I didn't like was Valentine's conclusion. Johnny was actually going to believe him and let him go but Valentine went full retard and decided to try and shoot him.
I think it's the literary equivalent of a Donkey Punch.
>Also the fact that Valentine didn't just find an alternate universe Johnny that was evil who would end up freeing him seems like a big plothole.
kek, I actually didn't think of that. Now that I think about it though a much simpler and better solution would have just been to have DIO pop out of the ground and kill Valentine. Given their deal and DIO's MO it'd make perfect sense and raise the stakes against him that much higher.
>I highly doubt next part lives up to how great this one was and i'm already so behind on that one so i think i'll end up skipping it for now.
Read it faggot. At least up to chapter 17, which is all I intended to post originally. Though a little further than that gives you some flashbacks to 1901 and Johnny after the SBR. Shockingly there's actually continuity between parts.
Now that you're back I can proceed with Rosario Vampire and Berserk. I will finish the current volume we're on for JoJolion tonight though.
