btw Makafag I finished LWA some time ago. I've been chewing on it and I think I can put into words what I thought about it.
I don't think Trigger had firmly set the plot in advance. This goes all the way back to Evangelion and Hideki Anno admitting the ending to Evangelion hadn't been penned until sometime in production. It seems far removed, but Trigger also slipped a joke like that into Luluco saying they are just writing this as they go. I honestly think they kept blueballing the Shiny Chariot reveal because they didn't know what it was until just shy of episode 22. This shows with Diana's prediction that Akko would leave the academy. It was presented as dire foreshadowing at the time, but it ended up being entirely false.
There's also the Shiny Chariot reveal itself. Which was slightly more anti climactic than I would have liked, but it sufficed. The reveal that Chariot was the reason Akko couldn't magic was brilliant. The impact was a little softened by the knowledge that Diana was also affected, and she's the Hermoine of the school, but that's okay. The real problem comes with the reveal that she was tricked into it by Croix. That removed all impact of the twist. I was seriously expecting that Chariot got desperate the 7th word wasn't appearing and tried to force it with her dream stealing magic, but it didn't work and she felt incredibly guilty afterwards. lolnope she dindu nuffin. It was all dat meanie Croix, who got off scott free btw. Akko forgiving Chariot would have had MUCH more impact otherwise.
The world reconstruction magic was dumb. Yes, it is cool that it allowed Akko to make a Spirit Bomb a pseudo Yggdrasil to literally kill war and spread happiness throughout the world. But I was really hoping for a literal return of Yggdrasil. The stars gave Chariot the rod during a time when magic was still somewhat respectable, and racial tensions weren't so high. What would have happened if she succeeded? There was nothing to fix in her age. Nothing that won't break again eventually. That's also why Akko's victory is rather hollow. Given time people will look down on magic for no apparent reason again and racial tensions will get out of control over dumb bullshit. She didn't really fix anything. If Yggdrasil appeared again though? Witches would permanently be in power and while racial tensions and the like wouldn't go away permanently they would be massively reduced by virtue that most crime is committed by the poor. With such magic it would be possible to effectively eliminate poverty and usher in a golden age. lolnope she just stamped a giant emoji on Earth and confirmed every chick's teleological bias.
Akko's character progression was underutilized. It was shown off very well up to the halfway point, and a little bit here and there through out the series, but I would have really liked to see her use more magic than rely on the Shiny Rod and her transformations the whole time. Actually it would have been splendid if she lost the shiny rod and had to get it back with what little magic she has.
The Shiny Rod was under utilized. Every word was a (1) and done except for Shiny Arc. Of which we DID NOT HAVE TO SEE THAT FUCKING FLASHBACK EVERY GODAMN EPISODE TRIGGER WTF. I was actually annoyed when she used it again to finish off the embodiment of war. It should have been a good capper, but they reused that fucking scene so much it was ruined. I expected her to seamlessly use all of the rod's functions by the end, lolnope. Also the sprinkler form was fucking dumb.
I'm okay with Sucy getting cucked by Diana because she became a likable, sympathetic character by the end. And she's also an analogue for Neville Longbottom since it could have easily also been her to be picked by the Shiny Rod. She's also a Satsuki analogue. However I do feel like not enough time was really given to make Sucy or the others shine. That fatass girl for example was just kind of there at the end because she's always just kind of there. Akko's remark about them being the New Nine Witches was dumb, and I can forgive it slightly because Akko is dumb, but that's not enough to excuse such lazy writing. Ryuko Amanda got some spotlight. Constanze got the best episode in the series. Lotte had her Twilight episode and Sucy had the second best episode in the series. Thicc Witch got nothing. And even if she did there was no real camaraderie between all of them anyways. They were shown hanging out, but not ever really interacting except with Akko.
Croix was underutilized. She was set up as an antagonist for half the series, makes a wonderful edgelord weapon to surpass Metal Gear and then is promptly thrust aside

The episode about Akko climbing the thorn tree was full blown retard. Chariot knew Croix was a threat and couldn't be trusted, but decided against telling Akko any of this beforehand. Now it's too late, but that's okay because this made a touching moment between them later… Which was promptly ruined by Chariot revealing there is no top of that tree. WHAT THE FUCK WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY THAT TO BEGIN WITH YOU DUMB BITCH RATHER THAN "Akko the pollen is coming now, trust me" HOW ABOUT "Akko there is no top to that tree, Croix is fucking with you" LOLNOPE. Granted Akko probably still wouldn't have listened and went anyways, but at least it wouldn't have been as insulting.
I wanna say there's another piece of foreshadowing that got backpedaled/ forgotten, but I can't remember what.
That's all off the top of my head. All-in-all it was still an enjoyable series, but if Trigger's going to save anime they're going to have to do better than this.

Based on my Law and Order experience the deal is discussed with the prosecutor and the defendant's lawyer (if necessary) in the room, then you get it in righting, then you plea in front of the judge with the document in front of you. That's how it worked when I went to traffic court once.

I was thinking that if it wanted an overarching plot they should have done something like, make the first 12 episodes slice of life/ cut girls doing cute things, then episode 13 starts off that way, but ends with Akko learning everything, leaving the school somehow, the shiny rod breaking, and eventually growing stronger on her own. Idk, you're probably right. I think Trigger knew they had lightning in a bottle from the OVAs and didn't know where to point it. I get the same vibe from it that I got from JoJo's part 4.
Magic being in decline truly did nothing for the series that never felt like manufactured tension. Same with that old bat who was obsessed with "muh tradition." I'd much rather it be Luna Nova which is on the decline and failing to modernize. That would actually make sense and Akko would still have a stake in it since she'd want to save Chariot's school.
I just don't want to think of Trigger as only being able to do a series so batshit crazy the plot doesn't need to be consistent. Space Patrol Luluco is great, and Inferno Cop is a C I N E M A T I C M A S T E R P I E C E and I do wanna see more of those, but I also wanna see more Kill La Kill and Gurren Lagann*

That and I don't agree with everything they cut. Like during Saobody when Hatchi asked Nami what she though of his family takoyaki there was a nice drawn out tension that just got cut out in the paced version. Also when they get attacked by a bunch of water spouts around that time the original run had that segment go on for a bit too long, but the paced version had them just activate the thrusters immediately.
I feel like there's a happy medium that they're missing.

Ok so I guess the actual important stuff is a very very brief summary of the parts
>Part 1
1800s, Jojo Sr is a rich English guy, the younger Jojo is a really gullible english guy. Dio Brando is like a foster/adopted son and he's basically the devil. An old stone mask turns him into a vampire with superpowers. A guy named Speedwagon pops up who is basically a side character but turns out to be really cool. Dio kills Jojo's dog, father then burns his house down and hides in a village nearby while he has vampires do his bidding. Then Dio learns 'hamon' from a guy named Zeppeli. Zeppeli dies fighting Dio but eventually Jojo defeats him.
Then in a shipwreck a defeated (but not dead) Dio sinks to the bottom of the ocean and Jojo dies. But Jojo left a pregnant wife.
>part 2
Around WWII. Speedwagon became really rich because of oil and established the Speedwagon foundation. Which is basically a benevolent mix between CERN and illuminati who can do accomplish anything.
There are some guys who were stuck in a pillar, turns out they were who the stone mask from the previous part came from and they have superpowers. Joseph Joestar ends up fighting them with the help of a pretty cool nazi and his mom (who's kind of hot) in Italy. Joseph eventually defeats the pillar men.

I think this was in like the 60s or 70s?
Jotaro (Joseph's son) has to go to egypt to stop Dio (who is actually alive). Joseph comes along and he's pretty cool. They fight a whole bunch of stand users including one that had a golden arrow. Eventually they fight and defeat Dio (who is in a Jojo's body). This part was really good.

Everything kind of happens for not much of a reason. Josuke is Jotaro's bastard brother. He's in highschool. Eventually it turns out there's this guy with a stand who's killing a whole bunch of people, especially women. He's really into hands. They almost get him, then he takes over someone's body and then they get him. His dad had a golden arrow that gives some people stand abilities. Joseph shows up to care for an invisible baby.

90s I think, Italy.
A kid from the previous part goes to Italy.
He meets Gio who is Dio's son but also kind of a Jojo. He's got the power to make random things into living things but he doesn't use this power well and is kind of a faggot. He joins a gang. Then he and someone else in the gang decide to kill the boss. First he gets tested by a guy with a golden arrow and kill him. Turns out the boss has split personality. Then later when they're trying to kill the boss Polnareff (a guy from part 3) shows up with another golden arrow. The golden arrow powers up Gio's stand and eventually he kills the boss, but it's also kind of a hax stand.

Jolyne (Jotaro's son) is a stupid bitch. She's in prison even though she dindu nothin (except be a punk). She gets a locket from her mom, which Jotaro originally told her to give to Jolyne if she ever gets in trouble. She gets pricked by a little thing in it (presumably part of a golden arrow) and gets a stand that's a string-stand. She's still figuring out how to do it. Her cellmate Guess also has a stand that makes people tiny. She's really mean and it's not really clear what she's trying to do. Then Jotaro comes to visit Jolyne and apparently wants to get her out.
Jotaro has been fucking dolphins so Jolyne doesn't really like him.

To clarify, they are officially described as psychic manifestations of one's fighting spirit. They cannot be seen by non-stand users and can only be damaged by other stands. I'm the one that described them as being "what you want most out of life"which makes sense, but it isn't official.
Newguy, the clearest example of this is Kira, the main antagonist of part 4, who's stand can plant a bomb on whatever it touches that destroys its target down the molecular level when detonated. This power exists because the kernel that makes up Kira just wants to fuck off and be left alone which necessitates removing all evidence of his crimes.
The only other thing I'll add is that Makafag's wonderful breakdown is somewhat pointless. You don't read JoJo's for the overarching story as the author, Hirohiko Araki, is kind of a hack. Much like Tite Kubo (author of Bleach) he just like drawing cool shit and making up cool situations. He literally just makes shit up as he goes, and can't really remember his previous works all that well so don't come into this expecting anything other than a fun, over-the-top, romp that accidentally has good writing sometimes. We're just starting a middling part as far as writing goes according to fan consensus. We just finished the worst by that same metric.
Also Araki is a hardcore westaboo who loves fashion and rock music. If you think the names sound familiar or the outfits and poses look especially odd for an anime that's why.

It makes more sense in retrospect considering all their style points came from Codehunters. They even switched from "realistic" to "living comic book" because of it.
The larger problem is that everything was just so… Blah. The environments lacked color and looked washed out, enemies were all fodder and uninspired, stuck too close to RPG roots so those enemies can easily be bullet sponges unless you ride that razor thin edge of progression, a bazillion guns but they all feel the same. Etc
Borderlands 2 was a lot more fun because it focused more on what Borderlands wanted to be. Backrounds were vibrant, there was enemy variety, bulletsponging was still a problem but only really showed on higher difficulties, guns had slightly better variety but it was the uniques that really made things interesting. It was written by a literal cuck, but that isn't such an issue since he barely wrote anything aside from a very basic plot and stuffed 20lbs of pussy and ass and memes and Knuckles featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry Series into it. His asshurt over Handsome Jack's VA winning an award for his performance when he deviated from the shitty script will also always warm my heart.

In Resurrection F the most powerful being in the universe is sparring with Goku and Vegeta effortlessly and explains to them that the pinnacle of martial arts is to not think, but react. Which is absolutely true, but he's explaining it to a man who has done literally nothing but eat, shit, and train his entire life. A man who is commonly shown to be an idiot so it's already implied that his fighting skills are second nature and not the subject of quick thinking. Yet Goku and Vegeta looked stunned at this basic information as if they have never heard of it before.

The very one. I have a couple of friends that took me to the theater premier (no, really). The premise was fucking dumb, but I don't expect much from the writing so it was still kinda hype. As an aside. I find it confusing that every time I see a series try to adhere to morals like the least harm principle it's always with the most irredeemable villains. JoJo's kinda did this with Dio and Johnathan, but Johnathan still never hesitated to put him down. I know it's done for contrast, but it's too annoying. I'd much rather see a villain who isn't entirely wrong or morally bankrupt get spared because the hero understands the villain and thinks they can be redeemed and it is believable that they are redeemable. Or at least not because "it's just the right thing to do."

I shit you not when Goku did his stupid SSJG mode I thought it was the most underwhelming thing ever and the theater erupted in cheers. Perhaps I should have watched Battle of the Gods beforehand, but I don't think that should be necessary. They should have teased out a cataclysmic transformation to hype things up. Like when SSJ3 was first achieved, but much shorter of course.
As for the the power levels. Yeah, that's why they're bullshit. Because Toriyama is a hack and needed a crutch to hype up his fights as much as possible. Actually that's all he's really good at is hyping. I can't remember a single DBZ fight that wasn't just a random flurry of punches and "nothin' personell kid" attacks.
That being said the first half of the movie was decent since it was humorous and self aware. And seeing all the dregs at the bottom of the power level bucket fight was entertaining. Felt similarly about the beginning of Super, but I haven't made it much farther than a few episodes.

Yeah that could be, because the 5 to 7 minutes is usually the estimate for time between when you get water in your lungs and when you're dead dead (in moderately warm water). So being a good swimmer has nothing to do with that number. But if it's cold water the saying is always "you're not dead until you're warm and dead" because with hypothermia the metabolism slows down a lot and you can bring someone back to life with cpr a good bit after than that. A few seconds is the amount of time between lungsfull of water and losing consciousness if you can't spit it out and get another breath.

One thing I really like about this fight is that there's no bullshit like "Wow Polnareff sure is running late" or "Oh nothing. The rain just sounded like Josuke for a second." They have a real reason to not intervene in that Kenzo knows the secret to plot armor and only Foo Fighters is durable enough to win via trial and error (I assume she wins). In addition to the threat of the other guy.
A better question might be why that guy doesn't attack Jolyne and Anasui, but considering how weird this fight already is I don't think doing two fights at once would be a good idea. It's also incredibly annoying.

He might not have needed Jotaro's memories for himself anymore but I disagree with this. It's not that he needs them for himself but Jolyne having them could be a problem because Jotaro is badass. He took out plankton and a tranny but he traded it for giving Jolyne the ability to bring the guy who killed Dio in the first place back into the field (which you think would at least be a personal grudge). At best he punted.

It also kind of makes me think he could have just laid low and tried to avoid detection for SPW and the Jojo's for longer. If he bided his time he might have been able to accomplish his endgame quietly.
