What does /m/ think of the Unseen redesigns?
I'm a complete purist, and can't stand them. OG Destroid/Zentradi ripoffs or bust.

Yes, you'd basically take contracts for merc work on various planets until plot important ones would come up. The only way you'd really know which ones were was by talking to guys at the bar between deployments.
Of course they couldn't make any of the 'boss' encounters special so you just fight mechs with unusually high armor. Hope you bring lasers or you won't have the ammo to deal with them.

All is not lost.
I found an old version in my HDD after searching through my mechwarrior folder, which I have uploaded it here
https://mega.nz/#!NAkRTJqZ!IrWN-vFeLDMWScPKmnhpZCnQEvD7K541XUVd9UuO0Kc
Secondly, someone on mechwarrior subreddit had made a torrent of the dasher version, which I am trying to download since only one guy is seeding it( it's already 4 year old!)
i will seed as long as I can if it downloads
https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/8777128
Get them right now!

Mechwarrior was one of these games where if you went online, most of the top pilots were all women I am shitting you not.
Probably cause it was gaming before the dawn of twitch attention whores, and instead had a bunch of PPC whores that could rip your shit in.

For Mech Combat? Clan Large Pulse, people will actually refuse to downright play with you if you field any mechs with them and rightfully so.
Plasma Rifles are balanced somewhat by needing ammo but are downright devastating as a weapon to field especially against Protomechs, Battle Armor, Vehicles and Infantry. They'll raise heat of Mechs much like a flamer does, but hit like an AC10 and have the same range as a Large Laser.
Of course it is a Capellan weapon cause according to new TRO's Capellans have better Tech than even the Clans now. Some of their recent mechs actually have higher BV's than most Clan Omni's which kind of sums up how derpy they are. If you want to unleash a whole wheel of dairy then take a Tian-Zong, cause a Heavy Mech that has twin gauss rifles and effectively null sig isn't overpowered apparently

So I got thinking, what is the point of the PPC when Light PPC + Capacitor weighs 3 tons less and lower BV yet has the same range and damage?

You can't fire the Light PPC + Capacitor every turn like you can the PPC. Then you have the heat generated by a charged capacitor and extra damage it receives on a critical hit.

looks like MWO. as in they still suck at making a Mechwarrior game.
cheesy cocpit animation instead of proper physics. same scooting vector walking. jump jetting looks like riding an invisible elevator. no falling effect. shit sound effects, no punch. combat is responseless and dead. so are collisions. the one thing they didn't do worse than MW2: the building destruction is exactly the same, hitpoint and disappear, congrats.
what kind of fuck ups can't match a 22 year old, pre-hardware acceleration game in physics and interaction. twice.

I've been playing a good deal of it. Anything in particular you'd like to know about it?
My overall experience has been quite positive as I find the core gameplay loop to be solid. It's not as faithful to the tabletop as they were trying to sell it as early on but it gets by well enough. They tried to make taking lighter mechs worthwhile with the initiative system and failed, there is no reason to take light mechs, ever. You are limited to a lance of 4 always. Contracts have decent enough variation though it will all largely boil down to 'blow everything up then maybe go stand somewhere'. The 'story' missions tend to be more fun and interesting, longer but easier than regular contract work and pay ridiculous amounts of money so until all that gets sorted out you won't have much reason to leave the area. Sound effects are great, pilot voice acting isn't. Their cinematic camera for combat can be turned off, I find it's nice when it works and really off putting when it fucks up. No save scumming during a battle though you're free to try and redo the mission but it will reroll what enemies you'll be facing. The color scheme picker is rather limited sadly but you can still meme up your forces in green and purple.
If you are worried about SJW infection than you're out of luck because it is pretty drenched in it when it comes to the story. Oh and while the mercenary gameplay of looking for contracts and scraping up enough money to buy shit is great, rather than letting this extend to what dropships you can deploy with you are instead handed a magical fairly lostech ship that you upgrade instead. Not only that but you get it very early on and recover the wreck where it had crashed into a goddamn moon and been picked clean by pirates but a wunderkid hajiibgineer gets it flying in a few days no problem.
I'd pay money for an expansion pack that lets me just free roam across the inner sphere and pick a great house to work for.

Still playing it, got kind of shafted progression wise, I ended up assembling a team of 4 highlanders before I got any of the 80-85ton mechs so I didn't get to enjoy using the awesome/battlemaster/stalker. Oh well, there are worse fates.

Tried out the flash point expansion and it gave me the bigger things I was asking for. Those being a career mode with the shit fucking campaign cut out and the 'flashpoints' which are multi map extended deployments. Payout for flashpoints is up and down though since doing two 3 star flashes netted me 2/3 pieces of an atlas as a random reward but the 4.5 star I did gave me an lrm10.
Overall very happy though they were really fucking lazy not giving you a real dropship and not cutting out those shit storymode characters.
In other news I spotted this for under 20 bucks and picked it up on a whim, not bad for how little it was and how expensive tabletop stuff usually is.
