how do I make my lines look less like shit

Every time I draw something and compare it to someone else's work the first thing I tend to notice is that my lines are noticeably worse and are more dirty. How do I make good looking lines /loomis/?

(pic unrelated it's just something I found on Google)

Many people who draw from a young age or otherwise have drawn a long time organically develop great manual dexterity and line control over years of endeavor. Because I started older I sought to accelerate that process by following Peter Han's Dynamic Sketching course on youtube

There's many reasons why and ways how your lineart could be "dirty", so it's hard to give advice without seeing it. Here's that obligatory lineart guide though.

Practice the mechanical skill, and then practice line confidence.

More than anything, I see people neglect the latter part of that. You need to be able to decide where your line's going, before you draw it, to be able to make good lines.

You never will. Get a tablet for a few hundred bucks or just kill yourself. As an alternative, you can use vectors with a mouse and take a million years to do literally anything, I guess.

do it digitally and let the computer fix all your lines for you.

How does that work? Stabiliser makes my lines worse.

In what way? I've done some experiments using a tiny 6x4 inch tablet, which I pretty much have to use the stabilizer with. I find it's easy to draw clean lines, but it's hard to make sharp lines or apply pen pressure properly.

I find it hard to get the lines I won't because of the input lag, they are smoother but not in the right place.

Yeah, you have to start your line ahead of where you think it should be. I should probably mention that I never sketch anything with the stabilizer, I just go over lines that I already drew.

You clearly have no idea how to use the stabliizer tools or have some $20 walmart tablet. Use the other settings and adjust it as needed. Adjust your monitor and input lag, too.
