How to draw cars? Are there any must know techniques, tips, tutorials, and books?

While I am not too bad of an artist otherwise, cars, especially aerodynamic ones, were something that I always struggled with. Judging by how little people draw cars or just stick to simplified or cartoonish designs, others seem to have difficulties with them as well.

My current method is printing out lightened reference photo, draw over it by breaking it into basic 3D figures and then do whole thing in reverse on the actual drawing. However, it is somewhat tedious and not very efficient when I just want to draw something from real life.

Amazon's got How To Draw Cars The Hotwheels Way, by Scott Robertson. He's pretty good, I've got a few of his other books.

Honestly, it's all about 3d views, what i mean by that is that you must think of your drawing as a 3d object constructed of blocks and shiet.

I know of an artist who draws a lot of cars, she has a website and regularly responds to things people ask her, which is called Titan Atelier.

Just go to her most recent post (which is currently this titanatelier.com/blog/game-of-the-year-material-for-the-intellectual) and ask for advice.

It's just a shitpost title about a game she played recently.

I only realised after the fact that I should probably post examples of her art.

When the site was down I stumbled upon a books that covers this quite well. It's How to Draw: Drawing and Sketching Objects and Environments from Your Imagination. Authors specialize in machines and main one is an industrial engineer turned concept artist.

This is a perspective book, so beginning sections overlap with Norling's Perspective Made Easy, although they go more indepth when it comes to grids. It also covers things that Norling does not, like foreshortening, emulating lens effects, using Brewers Method to draw perspective and grids with vanishing points outside of your paper, and other useful things. That takes up about 1/3 of the book. Another 1/3 are machines. It is 'Drawing Objects in Perspective' section from Norling's book, but vastly expanded upon and going much deeper into how machines work, how their construction and proportions relate to people using them, and so on. Last 1/3 is focused on different mediums, tools, and general tips.

I skimmed it, and read parts that were new to me. Based on that, I think that this could be a good follow up to Norling's Perspective Made Easy and Loomis' Sucessful Drawing. BO/volunteers, please take a look at it and see if this is something worth adding to the resources hub.

Yes, it indeed already is in there. I searched for the full title when checking it it's already there and must have missed it because of that.

That first one is either a furry edit somebody made, or somebody paid RB to draw their fursona in there. I've seen it before and it was originally a human, pic related.

RB hates furries. They used to be in the furry community 20-something years ago (RB is like 40 or something) and drew that kind of art casually, but over the years drew less and less of it until they became actively hostile towards furries five or so years ago. They stopped doing commissions because of the weird shit furries paid them to draw.

It seems to me that you can use technical drawings, but in fact, you can draw them as you want, because now cyberpunk and post-apocalypse are very fashionable. There you can come up with cool cars.

Hmm, that's pretty interesting, thanks for the ideas! But sometimes, real cars bring many more problems, and you need to know exactly all the possibilities of how to protect your rights. For example, https://www.americaninsurance.com/what-deferred-adjudication-traffic-ticket. I didn't know about it at all, and as it turned out, there are many such different tips.

Francesco Bagnoa recently renewed his MotoGP tie-up with Ducati until 2024, thus deciding his future even before the start of the new season. It was a demand from both sides, and from the rider's side, the intentions will not continue for another two years. I am also a big fan of racing but on other modes of transport such as e-bikes. Cycling is a big part of cycling and contains a lot of Olympic disciplines. Many cyclists don't know exactly what to wear while biking. Choosing clothes for cycling is walking on a knife edge: you always risk getting too warm and catching a cold because you sweat or overheat, or you can dress too lightly, get too cold and get no pleasure from cycling at all.
