There isn't much time left and it'd be a shame if it doesn't get funded either way. Honestly I'd like nothing more than for them to continue work on animation workflow, what they've done so far is good but it could stand to be a lot better. What are your thoughts on the most recent Krita kickstarter? Have you contributed or do you plan to?

Good ups, nigga. Hopefully they're able to fix whatever new bugs their new features create though. I downloaded 3.0 which was released today and I'm excited to use it, but there's a little persistent bug with the brush cursor that's kind of triggering my autism

How does one get into actually using Krita's features?

I've not done any art-ing for a while and never progressed past the point of clicking on random brushes and doodling.

There's a lot of overlap with Krita's features and those of photoshop. That said, I can't really tell you anything that you won't get by spending a little time reading the documentation

I feel dumb, is there a way to use my mouse/tablet pen to shift the viewport around without using the scrollbars? The 'move' tool just moves the layer around and keeps the canvas in place. Also, if there was a way to have this ability only when I have a key pressed, and have it go back to the brush when I de-press the key, that would be great too.

Thank you in advanced if you can solve this.

Space + using your pen moves the canvas. You can also rotate it around with 4, 5 and 6, and zoom in and out with space+ctrl+pen.

Any way to open that right click wheel with a tablet pen? For some reason it doesn't work, despite the key being set for the right click.

For now I set a shortcut to the color wheel, but it doesn't have half of the features the right click one has.

I just noticed it doesn't work for me either lmoa, what the hell, man. I guess I'll have to think of something else to bind there. Or not, it's too useful for regular browsing purposes.

It must be a Krita thing because right-click works in Photoshop and Clip Studio (Why did I buy this anyway) Paint.

Krita 3.1 is finally out, fambinos. Enjoy! It doesn't change much for how you'll be using it for freehand drawing, but it seems a bit faster for me at any rate.

If you're using Krita look up David Revoy and his brush pack. There's a really good pencil/charcoal kind of brush that I personally think looks great.

I have some pretty decent brushes for Photoshop too but I can't remember where the hell I got them.

From what I understand a hard round brush that ends in a "pinch" is fine. I'm dog shit at lineart so I don't really know, myself.

I made all of my brushes myself. That said, I don't usually "ink" my lineart. I just draw over the sketch until it's clean.

Any way to make the color picker go back to the paint/last tool you used once you pick a color?

Use the held hotkey. I think Ctrl or Alt?

It'll activate color picker when you're holding, and then return to previous tool when you lift it.

You can modify the hotkey from

Settings > Configure Krita… > Canvas Input Settings > Alternate Invocation

I think the default is at Ctrl+click, but I always accidentally use Ctrl shortcuts when using undo, so I switched it to Alt+click.

Middle click and drag moves your view around. I think this is also mapped to one of the buttons on a wacom pen by default.

Why does krita handle big images so badly?

I just want a pic a bit bigger than my resolution, but it quickly starts shitting itself.

I really can't explain it myself. It's supposedly more stable on linux but it's a real resource hog. I have a desktop replacement laptop with 12gb of ram and a dedicated graphics card and it still gives me trouble here and there.

How do you do that thing with coloring black and white pics where the intensity changes with how dark the value is and doesn't paint over blank spaces?

That's one of those things you know exists and know it's useful, but don't notice you don't know how to do until you try it.

>>4534

Scaling it back to twice my resolution instead of 2.5 times seems to make it not crash anymore, though it's not much of a solution.

My GPU and CPU are pretty good, though I only have 8GB of RAM. I'm going to get a cheap 8GB stick I found to use as dedicated RAM though, do you suppose that'd help it?

>I'm going to get a cheap 8GB stick I found to use as dedicated RAM though, do you suppose that'd help it?

I honestly don't know. I'm sure it couldn't hurt but it's hard to say where the real choke-point of Krita might stem from. It's a program with so much potential but it's such a resource hog that it's a wonder what those resources even are.

I have a mac book and a bamboo tablet. When I take the pen off tablet after drawing, the cursor freezes up and I can't get it to move until I move the pen over the area on the tablet in the area where the app ends and the desktop begins.

In GIMP you can do it by painting in a layer over the B&W image and setting the blend mode of your paint layer to "multiply".

I assume there's something similar in Krita.
