Bit of a mish mash with no coherent theme. It isn't a reading list as much as it is a list of books.

I wish /lit/ did more boutique lists, like /mu/ used to do. Back in the day the more interesting music lists were random anons' favorites lists, rather than arguing over what should be on essentials or not.

*random anon's favorite themed lists is what I meant, instead of essentials under themes. Seeing lists like pic related was always more interesting to me than the black metal essentials.

We could use a porno list guide too, or erotica if you will. Amusing asides, uh, aside, I do like seeing other's opinions and lists. This was all on point to the what have you read thread as well.
One thing I've picked up from my own reading habits is my failure as a consumer of recent literature. I'm a publishing house nightmare with my attention being diverted so often to authors of times past, meaning early to mid twentieth century. With the worldwide availability of used book aggregators writers are not so much in competition with their peers as they are with their predecessors.
Does anyone really use the NYT Bestsellers list as a guide to anything anymore?
