A couple of weeks ago I bought a meal for a homeless guy on my way to work, and I often give homeless people any spare food or cigarettes if they need it. I empathize with them a lot, I'm not sure why, maybe because I have also dropped out of society in some sense although to a lesser extent. Many have interesting stories if you'll take the time to talk to them. I remember one time I was walking down the street and a homeless guy mumbled something to me about the shirt I was wearing, so I got talking to him. I was wearing a shirt for one of my favorite bands (bad brains) and he told me that when he was younger he had gone to one of their shows in the US in the 80s. We had a discussion about punk music in general and over all he was just a nice guy. I implore anyone who reads this to be /kind/ to the homeless, because they're people too.

Mostly stevia, spices, or whatever else like oatmeal, flax, or even a means to make chicken sticky enough to be breaded. But mostly it's an ingredient with other things like veggie smoothies. Also, when plain, it tastes just like sour cream when put in a taco.

Some /kind/ advice as we approach the Christmas holiday: Most grocery stores will be accepting food donations to poorer families, plus basic items tend to be on sale as stores focus on seasonal foods and items. You can grab some good hearty stuff for cheap and drop it off. If you don't trust the stores, then go directly to your local food bank or shelter and donate there. Even better, if you know someone who is really in need, deliver it directly and spend time with them!

Remember to post here and share the /kind/ness further if you do this, or any other good deeds this season

I insult people who are considering suicide as an option.

I do it because the first reaction they have to someone trying to help them is to push away all chances of conversation.

By breaking that cliché, I get them to talk, and so I can convince them there is value in life and anything can be a surprise, even a guy trying to save your life in the worst possible way.

I'm sorry, but that's a really awful thing to do to someone. Being a dick to someone who's mentally unstable isn't charity. It's dangerous.

>if someone gets really mad at you for insulting them it means they were doing it for attentions

>nobody should get upset when I treat them like shit

The only reason anyone talks to anyone is for attention. You presumably made this post because you expected that someone would read it. If someone is suicidal and opens up to you, it's because they need at the very least a pair of ears to talk to, and usually emotional support.

The fact that you think this way tells me that you've never been in such a bad place yourself and have no qualification to talk about suicide.

>most times it does

And if it doesn't? Then you have blood on your hands. On your hands in particular. It's one thing to not help someone in need, but to actively antagonize them when their mental state is at its lowest is the act of a cold, cruel person. Don't try to hide your cruelty by pretending you're doing something righteous.

Reading comprehension, do you have it?

The insult is the first step, the way to break the ice.

After that it's veiled kindness only.

>The fact that you think this way tells me that you've never been in such a bad place

I guess those five years of my life meant nothing.

>And if it doesn't work?

Then I will have made an attempt.

I'm sure you realize most people will try the normal, nicest as possible attempt, right?

I try the cold attempt because I know if I fail then any other average Joe can save the guy by trying the only other way.

I'm maximizing the chances of saving a human life.

Controlled cruelty is an important skill to have honestly. If you're constantly bending over backwards to appease everyone people will begin to not take you seriously at all. It's like telling everyone that they did a good job. When you really mean it, it'll have the same effect as when you were mostly saying it to be friendly. People react better to unkindness sometimes, inspiring them to prove them wrong rather than simply saying it's not their fault.

It depends on the person, but I usually get them to talk.

I ask questions about their problems, and offer practical solutions.

If they tell me "I don't like that solution" I suggest they came as far as wishing to be dead, so they might as well give it a try since they have nothing to lose anymore.

If I know the person well I got way more bullets tho.

Recently I stopped a girl I knew from thinking about it by reminding her about how much her dad loved her, and she got deal sad, had a good cry and thanked me for reminding her.

no. my suicidal tendencies come from borderline personality disorder. i mostly stave it off, even though i have urges and thoughts on a pretty daily basis.

with what i've been doing, which is planning on moving with my roommate to washington state and helping people who have troubles with stuff, i think ill have fun (and some stress) being around more people. and also going to conventions in seattle and seeing airshows there too (love the blue angels)

the suicidal tendencies are a side effect of my disorder. and its not treatable with medication. i don't really know if the way i deal with it is the right way, but it seems to work, guess i just have lots of willpower.

>>37960

if there's one thing i've learned they don't know that, you can't tell the future, people don't seem to really "get" that, like they'll understand it, but not fully "understand" it.

my life was filled with a lot of abuse and suicide attempts, basically my life is like some drama film, later on, i ended up in the ghetto, and saw a lot of gang violence. not sure how im still alive but i am.

anyway, my life is much better now. so ive learned that important lesson you cannot tell the future.

your friend just may need more support so they dont off themselves until the day comes where things do get noticeably better and they stop thinking about death and dying. and eventually, they may get to the point where they actually realize how much better their life is because they havent thought about suicide or how shitty the world can be. but of course, its possible life will get worse, or remain the same. :\ i dont wanna be a downer but thats how reality works.

Thanks anon.

I hope it all winds up for the best between me and that person.

Worse case scenario my friend gets a nice life and forgets about me.

Best case scenario my friend always stays by my side no matter what.

But as long as they are happy, I'm alright with any of the two.

Not exactly today, but I was too tired last night to post. I had to stay late at work for a while because the office had a problem and so I sent my co-worker home. Turns out here buddy to walk home with bailed at the last minute and she lived in a bad part of town, so I offered to walk her home.

offered my battered mother to help her force my sociopath brother to go to his community service today. he's only 17 but he's already got multiple felons. she appreciated the offer for help but said "what's the point, he won't listen to you anymore than he does me." but i did make her smile.

joined a discord server.

exposed a bunch of incels to the wild and extremely alien idea that you can live happily without vagina. not sure how receptive they were to it, but they heard me loud and clear. hopefully they can find some tiny bit of happiness.

exposed a bunch of normals to the wild idea that maybe it's not such a good idea to use "think of all the people you'll be affecting" as their primary argument against suicide, because that argument is assuming that friends and family are a constant. i have no friends and only one family member who's suicidal herself and would simply join me happily if i died, so that is hurtful and YOU SHOULDNT JUST ASSUME EVERYONE IS FUCKING NORMAL AND HAS 1000 INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS LIKE YOU DO ALL THE TIME

if someone's fucking suicidal then it's extremely likely they either have no friends and family or the ones they do have are shit so shut the fuck up and stop constantly looking for opportunities to brag about how socially successful you are.

and i know for sure they learned their lesson cause they did indeed shut the fuck up and had no arguments at all. they were usually very argumentative with me but not on this one because i'm right as fuck. so hopefully next time they give their normie anti-suicide talk about how great living is FOR THEM they'll at least leave out this one that's cruel as fuck and a lie.

all in all a productive day

Hello nice friends! :D

I only now saw this board and I really like it. I was reading the posts and you've all done really good at being good. I wanted to share a little story if that is okay.

>Be me

>Out with friends to get limes from a store

>Waiting in car

>Guy comes out with some bags.

>He looks really sad, middle aged, glasses, overweight, half bald with a comb over, slouching

>Looks like the day had run him over

>Guy is loading bags into a Mini Cooper next to me

>Notice it's a sporty turbo charged one that had just been released at the time

>From my car I say "Hey!" to the man

>He turns to me still frowning and makes a big unhappy huff of air and flatly says "What?" like he expecting one last bad experience before getting home

>I smile at the man and point to the car while asking "Is your car half as fun as it looks?"

>He flatly says "No."

>Then he sets his glasses on his nose, he draws in a breath, he straightened his back, he puffs his chest out, and a sly smile shows up on his face

>In seconds he looks like a different person

>"It's twice as fun." he says in a cool tone

>While out another word he gets into the car and peels out of the parking lot with screaming tires

A few words can change someone's day for the better of worse so please keep this in mind and talk nicely to strangers. Strangers are just friends you don't know yet!

>Philosophizing with strangers on halfchan

>Some anon joins in and very obviously is in a really bad place emotionally

>Unbeknownst to him, his presence alone had a really positive impact on me because he was this really open and sympathetic sort of person who was extremely socially-aware (to put it in my own words) and was always making sure his conversation partners felt heard and respected, however without overdoing the act and coming off as annoying

>We replied to eachother back and forth for a long time and I tried my best to help and motivate him. I'm not sure anymore if he was suicidal, but if he was, I was trying hard to talk him out of it

>He was really touched by the things I said, thanked me and made me a lot of compliments, and in a way that convinced me he really meant everything he said and wasn't just being polite

>At the end he wanted to give me money via PayPal, saying that I deserve it for what I have done for him

>I couldn't accept it and instead told him to just be kind to others after he's taken care of himself, as a way to return the favor

>After a while he thanked me again in a really emotional post and left the thread with newly gained hope

Even though I'm poor, I'm an extremely materialistic person for a very specific reason and therefore was really happy about his offer, however I have no regrets about not taking him up on it. I was glad both about him and my decision that day.

Last year I helped an old blind man to switch trains at a train station. I went with him to the right platform and waited with him til his train arrived and made sure he got in and everything. While we waited for his train we chatted a bit. He was 82 years old and his wife has passed away some years ago. I told him how impressed I was that he was taking a train to visit a friend all by himself. He said he is still upbeat and he can't let his condition ruin what little life his has left. Tho being nearly full blind - he was down to 2% vision seeing only light and dark patches - is very hard. He used to be a painter and being unable to paint or look at things hurts.
