Are you as kind on real life as you are on /kind/?

Describe how so, if you may.

I try to, but it's quite hard.

Also, lately I've become pretty hikki. In the past month I've left the house four or five times, so I don't really see anyone except my parents. I also have my exams in just a couple of days, all of which I am going to fail.

Hmm… I don't know.

I just try to be neutral, and civil when I post here. I'm only kind to may actual friends, and loved ones.

No, because I don't interact as much in real life in the first place. According to my own estimates, I speak only up to 150 words a day.

I followed that path to its logical end seeing as I'm a hikkiNEET and not a student anymore.

In real life, I'm quite abrasive and narcissistic. A concerted effort at being kind always falls apart as the pain of being lonely eats me up from the inside.

I don't know anon. People who are struggling to tread water can't reasonably save others that are drowning. When i had a job I'd give food to beggars I'd see on the road.

I don't even know if I'd do that again when/if I ever get a job and become a psuedo normal friend again. I'm so behind on life. Everyone else is so far ahead personally, careers, assets etc.

>but anon you can be kind and it will cost you nothing

perhaps, but the cult of unrestrained compassion/kindness without logic and truth is what give rise to blm, fat acceptance, sjws etc.

Truth/logic > kindness

Kindness doesn't mean always yielding and acceding to others' demands. There's a firmness to it too. Sometimes you would like to spare them but cannot for doing so would spoil them against their own good.

Kindness > Truth/logic

Kindness can be all-encompassing; truth/logic cannot cover for kindness. But I don't expect anyone to understand because my communication skill is poor.

Most of the time I'm a very meek, inoffensive person IRL. Sometimes though I say unkind things, either by accident or because I'm in a bad mood, and then I feel bad.

Really? I thought the problem with those groups was that they hold these lofty ideals but act very unkind in practice. That is, they like to act "kind" to the groups of people they say they protect (although it's really more patronizing than kind) and then they treat people who disagree like human garbage.

see video. They are "kind" in that they think they need to protect 'weak' people or people like them.

They treat other people like garbage because they have simplistic ways of thinking . They think that if others do not share their view points, they must be against them. Thus these 'others' are trying to attack them. If these others are trying to attack them, then they must be human garbage. Thus they will attack back with all the venom they can muster.

Such people actually think they are exceedingly virtuous and righteous. But their compassion is misguided because it is based on poor logic or untruth.

Therefore I disagree with >>34016 . Kindness must be tempered and directed in accordance with truth and logic.

Sometimes the kind thing is to be harsh. But then others won't think that is kind. So is that even kindness?

None of what you described sounds kind or compassionate to me though. If anything, you've only repeated what I was trying to say: that those types of people aren't kind but patronizing and hypocritical. IMO, the "compassion" that they show towards their favored groups is something they feign in order to make themselves feel like the good guys. So, again, they're not really kind, but they like to believe that they are.

Also, I don't understand what you mean by "truth and logic." No offense, but it sounds just like a buzzword to me. Obviously everyone supports truth and logic, it's just that most people disagree on what that means.

When I can.

I usually can't afford to, due to my living situation. The social environment I was brought up in, as well as am currently stuck in, is like a detente of mutually assured destruction. We front to eachother with barely withheld annihilation and stop just short of launching on a day to day basis. Parry, spin, riposte, etc.

People outside this situation, though, I go out of my way to be kind to.

Can't quite say, since I do not post here often. But I really do aspire to being more and more kind to others. After all, life is long and difficult to many, may as well try to brighten someone's day, right?

No, I don't look at or talk to people when I go out. I just try to get my business done as fast as I can, so I can come back home. Pretty edgy to say, but our current world and its people disgust me.

As someone who works retail, I had a brief period where I came to hate and despise nearly everyone I saw come my way while I worked. Overtime I’ve come to realize how silly and irrational I was for holding such resentment towards random strangers.

At a certain point, you come to realize that everyone is on the same unhappy boat. While they may be annoying and needy as customers, I’m sure I’m not much better when I’m wondering a store aimlessly looking for some bullshit.

Of course, there will always be infamously bad customers, but I think I fell in a trap where I painted everyone out that way, despite the actually unpleasant encounters being fairly far and few between. I now try to amp my customer service up some since then. Not because it’s in my job description, like working hard in retail will ever get me anywhere. But, I find a certain pleasure in helping customers find what they need. That little bit of aid can go a surprisingly long way, and seeing them smile and thank me for helping them is actually fairly nice. Especially when they really needed something and I was able to find it in the back, that’s when they get all genuine, calling me a life saver and stuff. That feels especially wonderful.

I have a hunch that quite a few of them figure I only smile and nod because that’s my job requirements. But, all the same, knowing how many co-workes do sort of half ass the customer service part, and I really don’t blame them per say, but I think more often than not the customers I help can tell the difference between genuine and paid to be. Or so I hope.
