Let's make a /kind/ recommended chart!
Let's pick anime, video games, books and movies that we consider to be /kind/ and make a chart out of it.
A few rules:
>The things we pick should be /kind/ in nature, so generally things that will make others feel better.
>Making people see the problems that they face is also /kind/ but it shouldn't be done in a very heavy handed way. If you want to put something sad on this list, it should also be cathartic and hopeful. It should also end well or at least with a bitter-sweet ending that is more sweet than bitter
>Put in as much happy stuff as possible!
>Nothing too dark or creepy please, this is not the place for dark stuff Unless we're talking cute-dark or cute-creepy, then it's completely okay

>Nothing too dark or creepy
I mean that dark and creepy stuff will still go by if they're heartwarming enough but please try to stay away from that.

i disagree with your rules.
i'm a very /kind/ person and still enjoy dark and creepy shit, in fact. you could say that a proper balance is needed in order to stay a sane nice person. if you get too much diabetes it can fuck you up emotionally. (see: people like chris-chan for example)
i can definitely understand why you want a comfy media thread though. if you'd just had called it that i'd have no complaints

I'm not saying that creepy and dark stuff isn't /kind/ I'm just saying that it doesn't really fit with the atmosphere of the board.
I love creepy and dark shit too, I'm a fan of macabre and my two favorite writers are Edgar Allan Poe and Lovecraft.

Maybe not the best thread to ask (maybe I should make my own?) I'm looking for some comfy older anime to watch, particularly 70s to 80s. I haven't seen much anime, but I haven't seen any really from those decades, either. Except lupin series one.
Also, if you can, I would rather it be a short series, rather than 100+ episodes.

You guys should try Yokai Watch on the 3DS. It's a very comfy game with a simple but rich storyline that I found myself enjoying quite a lot.
There are so many side quests in this game to get hooked on, playable anytime you want to take a break from the main quest. And the best part? They're all based around helping others, whether Yokai or townsfolk.
The main incentive behind doing the quests is to help others, just that. The game stresses on the MC being helpful regardless of getting material rewards for it or not (you do always get experience though).

I don't feel like making a chart, but George Saunders (pic related) is a truly /kind/-tier writer. I'd highly recommend his collection Tenth of December (his other books that I've read were okay but not quite as good). Some of the stories are pretty feelsy though. The first and last ones in particular made me cry like a bitch.

I got two things too recommend.
ONSIND is a british folk punk band that I found last year. Put bluntly, they are certainly more political than even some folk punk bands which is sad. However, when they start talking about mental illness and remove the focus on politics they go from being "pretty good but opinionated" to near god tier. The two albums I really like are "Anaesthesiology" and "Dissatisfactions" and they are both extremely good at being positive and optimistic but not shying away from the real emotion of their topics. Some distinctive songs are "I could cut a better man out of this Banana", "God Hates Facts" Which has a veyr unfitting title weirdly, and "Suicide is Painful". Put them into sad but heart warming.
Won Ton Soup by James Stokoe. Won Ton Soup has a bit of a weird sense of humor but the setting and concept is what really sells it. Takes this large, diverse, and creatively designed universe with different alien races and numerous planets and focus on cooking instead of politics or wars or a big galactic threat. Its one of my all time favorite comics, to my knowledge there is a second volume out that wasnt as good as the first, but that first one is totally worth a read if you like sci fi.

If you've got a vita I'd wager your best bet is Dragon Quest Builders. It's comfy as fuck, and does a fairly alright job and avoiding being a just a minecraft clone.

Here's a short/WIP list of underrated films that I think anons would enjoy
Blastfighter – directed by Lamberto Bava (son of Mario Bava), starring Michael Sopkiw, George Eastman & Valentina Forte
All Cheerleaders Die – cheesy horror(?)-comedy. A guilty pleasure if you like sapphic films
Cargo – Swiss sci-fi horror
Crawl or Die – low-budget action-horror – extremely claustrophobic & visually interesting, though it is very low budget & do drag a bit
Darkness Falls - starring Emma Caulfield & a young Emily Browning. Three audio commentaries, some of the most entertaining tracks I’ve listened to
The Haunted Palace – directed by Roger Corman, starring Vincent Price & Lon Chaney, Jr. – despite the name it is actually an adaptation of H. P. Lovecraft’s ‘The Case of Charles Dexter Ward’
Frostbite – Swedish horror-comedy – premise similar to ‘30 days of night’, but with a ‘Hot Fuzz’ feel
Ironmaster – Italian-produced caveman action with George Eastman as the badguy.
Thale – Horror/thriller/drama
The Guest – action/drama – if you liked NWR’s ‘Drive’, you’ll probably love this as well
Dog Soldiers – British action horror with werewolves – very entertaining!
Orc Wars – lowbudget action – great fun.
Rampage – directed & written by Uwe Boll – very good.
Starry Eyes – artsy horror – killer soundtrack.
The Last Days on Mars – sci-fi horror – starring Liev Schriber.
The Phantom – Lee Falk’s classic pulp-action hero. Starring Billy Zane, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kristy Swanson & Patrick McGoohan
WolfCop - horror(?)/action/comedy - very entertaining & funny with a lot of practical effects

>Catcher in the Rye
Isn't the main protagonist really bitter against "phonies" or something like that? I'm not too familiar with it, though I do intend to read it. But still, I'm not sure why this novel is suggested as /kind/, of all things. I'm personally worried that it's borderline Ayn Rand in its philosophy.

The main character is very bitter, but he's also a /kind/ person, I think. He hates shallowness and cruelty, but since he's only a kid, he doesn't really know what to do with his feelings, and the book is mainly a "bildungsroman" about him struggling to come to terms with the world. But it's very open-ended, and what you take out of it largely depends on what kind of person you are.
