I'll be honest, I'm a lot less enthusiastic about the series than when I first saw this thread way back in CY. Amakuchi is as skilled an artist as ever, and he draws Rena and friends very well, but the direction the series has taken has left me less and less excited to see each new chapter (nofap has also made me less interested in porn in general, but I don't think that's the root cause).
Reading the first few chapters and seeing Orca-chan and Bat-chan introduced, I was interested to see what would become of our heroines, whether or not Freya would ever confess her love to Odin-sama, if Fenrir would be able to live as a good guy, what kind of monsters-of-the-week would be fought, and so on. These aren't weighty philosophical questions, but they were something, you know? But we don't have answers. What we do have is:
>two scenes for Rena's oba-chan, plus a new character design
>a scene for Bat-chan's oba-chan
>several scenes for one of Fenrir's friends (tiger guy; don't care to remember his name)
>tonnes of unnecessary characters in Valhalla, including a horse pussy with two forms
Perhaps I care too much about the story in furry pornography. But I don't care about Quality Writing™ if the manga itself focuses on the characters who are actually on the front cover. I get the impression Amakuchi doesn't have any idea what he's doing with the project, and that makes me less interested as a reader even if he draws breasts better than almost anyone I've ever seen. Every chapter seems to introduce some new OC with way too much visual clutter instead of using a pre-existing character to handle the situation or wear the new outfit. The recent chapter with Freya's vacation in Valhalla is the perfect example of this, since we saw Odin and Sleipnir (neither of whom are exactly strong characters, visually or otherwise) fucking for a dozen pages while Freya sits at a cafe and has the same problem she's had for the last three years.
Am I thinking too much about this? The last time I looked at this thread was when that guy took his foxy porn to the copy shop and had to explain himself to the women employees so we could see it a few weeks early. I haven't exactly been keeping up with the discussion, so I'm sorry if this post is more negative than what is expected of this thread.

Nah I feel the same about Foxy Rena anon.
This used to be unironically one of my favorite manga (non-porn included) because the universe and characters had potential.
It peaked with the 6th issue and that Rena flashback then it just went downhill.
I still look at amakuchi's twitter and patreon for new pics but he ruined what could have been something really great. It's just missed potential

I like the direction the story is going in. It still has the tokusatsu and magical girl parody it had at the start. It's obvious Amakuchi's going to focus on Freyja and Odin since all the other relationships seem to be developing quite nicely. Rena and Thor confessed to each other, Otama and Fenrir obviously care about each other even if they are a bit silly about it.

He introduced Freyja's girls as the new threat that Rena, Orca and Kasane can fight. The other girls shown in volume 9 weren't even characters but references to Nakagami Takashi doujins and other characters. Only three of the Valkyries are new characters. There is still room for a lot of other exciting things because the focus is relationships at the moment. I am worried about Orca being lonely and stuff.

I don't really see anything too outrageous with the recently introduced characters. I'm sure Orca and Kasane will be developed more in future volumes and side issues along with other characters. I doubt we'll see anyone new other than the guy already teased in volume 9.

It's been the focus for as long as I can (spottily, admittedly) remember. The last monster was, what, the time tiger dude got it on with Rena? And it was just a diversion, if memory serves.

Fair point to Freya actually getting to fuck Odin-Sama, though; I don't like paying attention to previews but I'm happy to be wrong on that one.

So the official stance from fakku atm seems to be that doujinshis like Foxy Rena are low priority atm due to other, probably more profitable projects. So I wouldn't expect a decensored Foxy Rena 4 for many more months tbh.
At least there'll be an animated Freya around C94 (maybe) for fans of his art.

Many writers from manga and comics use standard writing because it easier for the reader to read.Also, whatever writing font/style you put in there is actually prove that that you are a terrible writer.I mean, who ever wrote those narrative parts, you should tell them on why you want to write it like that. Fancy writing like that is NOT beneficial to anyone. It actually show that you care more on your writing style than what other people think.

You aren't being very clear or helpful at all apart from stating dissatisfaction with the font choice. And asking for a better version is not a tip; it's a poor insult lol. I'm assuming when you refer to 'writers' you mean an editor, whose job is to transcribe the script onto the pages. It's my first time doing anything of the sort and you haven't suggested a font which is 'standard' in your opinion, which would be a helpful tip. Another genuinely helpful tip would be suggestions for what font would be appropriate for a given tone of speech e.g.: normal, scared, angry, sex1, sex2, narrator, SFX. Otama's font was a poor choice in retrospect, but I wasn't really sure what to go with for hers.
And yeah, the original scans were around 500mb and the size ballooned by 200mb more after editing them. Idk why. They are 4200x6030 png files after all. The compressed jpeg's are on e-hentai anyways.
Generally I personally don't care that much about the font unless it's something really illegible or jarring, but since I decided to share these I'd like to get some advice from whatever audience is out there. That way I can learn something and improve, and any viewers will have a smoother reading experience if I bother doing this again for FR13.
Lastly, is English your second language? Just curious.

Your lettering doesn't follow any rule, traditional or otherwise, because of your font choices and your lack of knowledge, your use or disuse of crossbars for the letter "I" is completely at random, see number 1 of "5 amateur lettering mistakes" for the traditional rule of lettering. Using different fonts for different tones of speech is somewhat unnecessary because tone is already shown by the different styles of word balloons and facial expressions. At most you can increase the font size and weight for yelling or decrease the font size and weight for whispering. Using different fonts for different characters is extremely unnecessary because who's talking is already shown by the word balloon tails and context, it's especially distracting when you switch from all uppercase to proper capitalization. Using different fonts for narration and dialogue is extremely unnecessary. If you want to use multiple fonts they should be harmonious (look like they belong together) and you shouldn't use too many. None of your fonts are harmonious and you used too many. As it stands now I find your scanlation extremely unpleasant to read.

Thanks for the feedback and examples. Would have never considered the crossbars of the I's unless someone pointed it out. I guess I should've read a tutorial first instead of diving straight into it and trying to emulate the style of the guy who did #1-9. And I'll pay more attention now to what the textboxes look like. Outside of the square explanation boxes and the internal dialogue ones, I never really put much though into the other ones instead relying on the dialogue and inferring the general tone from there. I'll keep what you've said in mind for next time, since I don't feel like sinking any more time into this for now, I'll keep the font selection down to 3 max. Harmonious fonts, at least to me are a bit trickier since what you might find jarring might not be glaringly obvious to me. Any suggestions on font pairings?

Yeah, it's better to develop your own style of editing. Otherwise, if you try to emulate other guys' styles you could end up juggling between many different styles if you jump on multiple other works mid-series that are all edited by different guys. The only thing you should take cues from are the raw scan, especially the font weights used. Sorry, I can't think of any suggestions for font pairings. Unfortunately I'm no typologist, I don't have an extensive knowledge of fonts. Maybe you could find some resources online, I don't know. My suggestion would be to find one font you really like that's also highly legible at small sizes and use only that one, haha, it would be so much easier. It could take a lot of time comparing individual letters to find harmonious fonts.
Here's a guide and full-page example I finally got around to making for something I skipped covering in my first critique on page 29, instead of dealing with that broken word balloon you placed Rena's first sentence all the way on the right side of the page, causing that bit of dialogue to be out of order. I don't blame you for avoiding that, it's a lot to fix.

Cool, thanks for that little tutorial. I was considering redrawing that section like I did with some of the other textboxes with protruding kana but I wasn't sure I'd be able to get away with it since the new boxes would look suspiciously pointy. Then again, I did get away with it on some of the other pages or maybe people just didn't notice/care. Might give it a go and see how it compares for the fun of it. Guess the next thing is to find some fonts that fit those specifications and aren't overused. Animeace really bugs me for that reason since my convoluted imagination interprets it as a kind of boring monotone after seeing it so often lol.
