Have a question, might as well make it a general thread.

Question:

Is it possible a open source and proprietary license? Any examples?

Also unrelated: please change the boards theme to blue; this one suggests NSFW.

What's the best way to store images?

I'm working on the server side for a personal project and if everything goes well the server will have to handle millions of images, what's the best way to store them? i could straight up put them in the database as byte arrays or save them as files in the system, perhaps there's some database specialized for images and other "heavy" kinds of data.

I'm working with MySQL

Look at hydrus for a decent example: store the images in the filesystem, with names based on whatever hash you want to use, and try to keep file access to a minimum on the db side.

Will it come with 8 Gigs of RAM

Will it come with a Hexa 2 GHz ARM CPU?

Will it finally come with a built-on Cooling Fan?

Or maybe those other guys will finally make an Atomic Pi 2 (I prefer the x86 processors (if used properly))!

Are there any security camera solutions that offer person detection which is NOT reliant on a 3rd party network? For instance, the old Wyze Cam firmware had person detection that was handled by the camera unit, not an outside network. Wyze deactivated this because of software licensing issues (not to mention their security issues).

I'd like to find something that won't give me a ton of false positives (shadows/headlights) but also won't require Jeff Bezos or China analyzing my stream.

I'm considering overhauling my entire infrastructure and I'd like some advice. I'm Australian and this is on the back of recent discussions to consider ecchi anime involving children (aka, nearly all anime) child pornography, in addition to the regular illegality of piracy.

I have 14TB of existing TV/movies/anime/etc on my external HDDs. If I get vanned and refuse to give the police the encryption password then I face a 2 year jail sentence just for that.

I'm considering a seedbox for my ongoing downloads but the sheer quantity of existing content would make this very expensive even if I halved it in size by cutting the most easily redownloadable content. Is there a way to write a script for a HDD which would wipe it if it was accessed by unknown device?

Consider plausible deniability encryption. You have an outer and an inner container, the inner one being entirely invisible and undetectable. If you're forced to decrypt, you can disclose a password, revealing only the outer container. For usage, you use a different password which decrypts the inner one. The inner one is nothing but empty space when viewed from outside, and in the outer one you place some non-incriminating but plausible files. Veracrypt has this feature for example.

hey anon, I don't think you are still dual booting windows, but I thought I might just throw it here.

It's a loophole I found in Bitdefender antivirus free trial, which is pretty based and which I used when I used windows.

So when you follow that link you will have to create a bitdefender account which you can create using services like inboxkitten.com temp mail services. Any way if you follow it through, you will get 3 month free trial, and then you can create another account and log out of previous one and like unlimited free trials.

Also I used to block all connections of windows os, and bitdefender with simplewall firewall software which is FOSS, and only allowed it when I needed to update bitdefender.

tldr; unlimited bitdefender premium free trials.

I got link from LTT.

https://www.eff.org/pages/tor-and-https

I am not an expert, but I think I know my shit.

Assuming you are using HTTPS version of this site, they can very easily know you are surfing this site, but actual data is encrypted. Your posts will go through the network encrypted. ISP won't have any idea about the boards or the threads you are visiting. But they will know you are using this site, as they will have to know this site address in order to send your requests here. This is mainly because if you are not using VPN, you are most like using the DNS resolver provided by your ISP, which basically converts human readable web addresses like lukesmith.xyz into IP addresses which are then used to send and receive packet from a site. But if you use other secure DNS resolvers, all your ISP sees is the IP you are connecting to as your custom DNS resolvers eg cloudflare has already converted lukesmith.xyz to IP address. But many time they can figure out from IP address that you are connecting to what site.

VPNs are good shit for these things, but TOR is based. If you use VPN, all you traffic will first go through VPN's server, and if you use HTTPS sites, then they will have no idea what you are sending or receiving, or to whom you are sending your requests. So, basically if you surf r*ddit, or yt or 8chan over HTTPS protocol, it will be nearly indistinguishable to them ie you ISP.

tldr; HTTP sites, they know what specific web addresses you are visiting.

HTTPS sites, they only know which website you are visiting.

HTTPS with VPN with non-ISP DNS, they almost have no clue.

VPN recommedation, ProtonVPN. I am not endorsing it, it is what I use. It offers free service and 7 day free trial. It's FOSS, and has no logging policy.

You can setup custom DNS resolvers for android and for specific browsers.

Let me know if you want to correct me or if you need my help.

I don't play video games so I don't know much about it, but switch to Linux if possible. It's awesome.

Also, no problem if you want to stay on windows, just use simplewall to block all connections to windows update servers and telemetry to stop auto updates.

Assuming you don't go to sketchy sites, you have very little chance of getting malware, so once in a while, if you are free, you can disable simplewall and update your OS when you want. Updating is also necessary.

I can only find 20 pin models, but I distinctly remember older Pi's had only 16 pins. Were there no cell adaptors for these?

If I want to build a self contained sensor reading unit (with 4g/3g to email the sensor data as CSV or whatever) would I have to use one Pi as a router and another to attach sensors to the GPIO pins?
