Sup /fur/
I got really tired of art going missing from nukes, dnp's and paywalls. So I created my own booru without any take down rules, except it must be art from a furry creator. I want to create the perfect archive so I'm going to need your help. If you are sitting on your own archive please send it to me, be it through torrents, cloud services or directly uploading them. You can also help a ton by tagging art.

Site's still in development so there might be some hiccups here and there.

Nice idea but I think it will really benefit from:
a) being open source so everyone can run their own copy in case your's goes down
b) using some kind of a distributed storage solution for not just images but all of the data (tags, etc)

I have plans for creating some kind of synchronization/subscription mechanic so you can "easily" clone the db. But for now I will be releasing some backup db's once in a while.

Nice one dude, I approve, hope it works out. I'm kinda tired of e621 and how quick they are to remove content whenever an artist moans a little.
But yeah, making sure the site is easy to rehost is a must, it only takes a few DMCA's for a site to get taken down.

I used to support e621 policies but the high number of artists taking down all their art everywhere and then shooting down their accounts pretty much destroying the content forever is making me realize this is bullshit
And several of those cocksuckers were supported by Patreon or Comissioned to post art publically so they are in fact stealing something they sold to the public, you can't take money promising something just to take it all back.Akira couldn't take back all the copies of Dragonball he sold, Marvel couldn't take all their Spider-man comics.

It's probably just the general slowness of onion-routing. Tor is a lot faster than i2p if that's what you are using. Alternatively if you want maximum speed you can use both tor and ipfs at the cost of anonymity.

Also, never attempt to open an onion link without the plugin. It goes to your isp as a failed request, and then later on if you download something illegal and an exit node sends data to your pc, investigators could determine what file it was because you attempted to access it in the clear.
I say “could,” because I suspect that maybe 5% of detectives in the world have the skill and understanding of tor to actually do it. But it is possible.

You only give a shit when popufurs wipe content. Low-tier artists with few watchers, you never notice them wipe a gallery. Drama magnets, you're glad when they wipe galleries. You also hate the idea of artists owning their work because no matter how hard the fandom supports Trump, you're selfish and believe poor artists are here to serve your wants. Piracy is only bad if it affects rich people, it seems.
A submission that's been up for 5 years and has 30 views and 2 faves, you never gave a shit when you had free access to it so don't pretend you're somehow deprived when it's taken down due to lack of interest. Furries are such hypocrites and liars.

Kudos to you, man. Every once in a while I think about starting something like this, but the potential problems put me off.
For starters, I take it your host is bulletproof. Which includes being located in a country with decent internet protection laws i.e. not being another one of Murka's gimps. Also, ever considered a reverse proxy?
Tho I guess you're using IPFS. Can you just throw anything you want there? Is it serving the files for the Tor site too? What happens if someone throws CP or some other shit your way? For that matter, what are your plans in case some ruseman starts shit?
Hosting is the biggest issue nowadays, since there's plenty of open source software, especially with SESTA/FOSTA having just come into effect this year. Now, the host is legally liable for any illegal files you might have instead of the uploader.

Just like a proxy, but for a server. Helps hide it. Dunno if it adds any security in this case, since you're already on darknets. The way these things go, it's possible that a security measure ends up actually decreasing anonymity, so it would require some research.
>Yes, IPFS doesn't automatically distribute data unless you request it.
So IPFS really is like one gigantic, free but slow-ass cloud host? I take it that cryptography keeps host computers from being able to view whatever is stashed away in their own machine?
>I'll just remove it.
Well of course, but I mean in terms like planning for the worse. Things like what's the longest time it could stay there before you could log on and delete it, or maybe opting to keep uploaded pics hidden in quarantine until you can manually approve etc.
And I just remembered about shit like hidden, embedded files, which could be another headache. Remember back in the day, when cuckchan hadn't banned those? Perhaps the booru software takes care of that tho.

I don't know of any booru/chan that does that. And they are all on the clearnet. However I might add some uploading privileges so you would have to get approved for uploading.

Adding: the amount of time it takes to learn to draw well means that if you draw well, you will not have the left-over resources to do anything but make a living drawing.
Real jobs require a four year degree and eight years of experience with hulihee.js and StoMA on Rails. If you spent the time to get those qualifications, you will not have spent that time practicing drawing.
If you make a living drawing, and you cannot delete your old work, and you want to stay eating, you have no choice but to never publish anything that goons-ED-journalists might not like. You will have to vet your output not for what the consensus is, but what it may be.
Your archive is a machine for making sure that the top echelons of furry talent are 100% politically and aesthetically aligned with wokefur twitter. That's why you're getting tech support well in excess of what 8ch is typically able to provide: the ratfuckers want to see you succeed.
>we'll just sustain good artists with our money

It's amazing this is often pushed by right-wing nuts when this "fuck property ownership or paying or all that, I'm entitled to free shit" is a far liberal viewpoint- or more like an extremist "pure" communist attitude where no one owns anything.
You can claim IP ownership doesn't exist, but fuck you, you're wrong. Complain about it being a jewish/nazi/capitalist plot to take down the artists or whatever, but I don't like book burnings in general - whether literal or metaphorical. No matter how degenerate or hate-filled the work is, it deserves to be preserved- even if only as an object of scorn or mockery. though the act itself is mostly symbolic these days due to increased production capacity and digitized versions, i still don't really like it. >even if the old work in question gained 30 views and 4 faves over a span of 5+ years
>then rage about how they need to archive every piece of art, because fuck the artist owning their work apparently
I swear, furries look for excuses to get enraged and it's less about the art and more the fact they're told they can't have something they didn't want in the first place.
Posting on a website does not automatically waive copyright or enter a work into the public domain, as I've heard that brainless excuse before to justify art reposting and spitting on the artist. Only a complete retard would think that's the case. That completely goes against actual copyright law in every country. That's like claiming a song is suddenly public domain because you heard it on the radio.
Here's a novel idea- fuck you. If you hate us and want to spit on us, while demanding free entertainment, we don't have to make free entertainment for you. You can go without. Artists are not your slaves and our work isn't your property just because your eyes saw it.

It has nothing to do with "copyrights" or "muh artists wishes", it's purely the fact / principle of "If you post it online, it's there forever*." No one who archives art gives a shit about "copyrights" because it doesn't apply here. Copyright is for protecting the right to claim ownership over the thing someone makes, ie no one can come along and say a thing is theirs for whatever moronic reason. Archivers aren't claiming the art they're archiving is theirs, that'd be absurd.
>That's like claiming a song is suddenly public domain because you heard it on the radio.
Ignoring the false equivalency of likening archival to putting something to the public domain, you do know taping songs and audio in general to audio cassette from the radio (and TV) for playback later has been a thing for about as long as the format has existed right? It's for this reason we have the audio for all the old episodes of Dr. Who despite the BBC destroying the tapes in the 60's.
To reiterate, if art is posted online, and someone likes it, they can and might save it to local storage. Some of us (like OP) get pissed when they want to find some art they find out about, track it down, but then discover it's gone because the artist had a hissy fit about something asinine and deleted it, usually leaving thumbnail art or a preview version as the only remnant that it existed.
Frankly, when I make and post anything I'd be more than happy that someone liked it enough to take up their hard disc space for it. If I didn't want people doing that, I wouldn't post it. Simple as.
*Assuming anyone knew it existed and gave a fuck enough to archive it in the event it disappeared from where it originally was.

IPFS already acts as a distributed cdn. You can easily mirror and host the content by pinning the hashes on your own IPFS node.
However making effective use of IPFS is a bit problematic since the site is behind anonymity networks. You can't really tell the users to use their own IPFS node as that would de-anonymize them. That's why I'm offering my own gateway, a lot less decentralized but anonymous for the user. Had the site been on the clearnet I'd enforce the use of local or external gateways making the content fully distributed.
Best thing you can do is mirror as much content as you can, or even better use your local IPFS node while browsing the site. It would help a lot in the long run (post site availability, spawned backup sites, archives).

That's one of the problems with using the tor browser. They don't allow websites to request local resources for security reasons. It might work if you install the ipfs companion add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ipfs-companion/
Otherwise you can configure normal firefox to use the tor socks proxy. Alternatively use something like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/foxyproxy-standard/ to automatically switch between the tor proxy and the clearnet.

Animated stuff didn't play however. Might be because of the filesizes.

I'd also like to see a 'banned' tag that shows you all the stuff that is usually taken down on other sites, so I can filter everything that I've already seen on r34 and e621.
Another thing considering is making a crawler/bot that scans whenever something is uploaded to r34/e621, scans/saves it. If it gets taken down and isn't a duplicate, its uploaded to this

Never forget that furries are massive hypocrites who value watch count and popufur status above anything else, and that rule son furry art sites don't mean shit because they are selectively enforced.
This program will only bother to archive popufur art, because the small timers don't get seen to start with and no one will demand their stuff be archived.
I have also browsed DA, FA, Pixiv and others enough to know that 90% of the content on a typical art site is trash, the world would lose nothing of value if it was purged and if those artists quit it wouldn't have a negative impact on the entertainment industry. Do we need to archive the trash that never should have been uploaded? You're just engaging in the digital version of hoarding at this point. It's the mentality I expect from posters on a board where the captchas are barely readable, fuck you, 5 attempts because a wide long colored streak cuts through a letter of the same color!

Another issue is with how the db dump is structured. You would have to recreate the entire db on each update unless you manually pull out only the new data.

>Secondary backup on BitTorrent in case something go south with IPFS
There isn't really anything that can go 'wrong' with IPFS. It is a distributed system very similar to BitTorrent. Backing up the data on both IPFS and BitTorrent would double the storage space requirement. BitTorrent is much more mature and would be more practical in speed, reliability and ease of use while IPFS has a better web interface (the gateway) and it's more flexible.

I've also never seen my stuff reposted to boorus or chans(nor should I have to do it myself, that doesn't change the fact it's not liked enough for others to bother), yet everyone suddenly wants a copy when I do take it down. And in hindsight I do not want it reposted by others because FUCK YOU.

👏 RULES FOR PEOPLE WHO VIEW ART 👏
1) If you like the artwork, you must [+Favorite] it
2) If you like the artwork so much that you save it, you must [+Favorite] it AND ALSO leave a positive comment
3) If you like multiple artworks from the same artist, you must [+Watch] them and leave an encouraging shout on their profile
4) If you fap to any of an artist's works, you must also support them on Patreon or Kofi, etc.
It's sad that I have to spell it out like this but there's plenty who don't have the common sense to understand how the artist-viewer relationship works.

How exactly do you do all of this correctly? I'm totally new to using tor and ifps so I really don't understand the finer points of this.
Using the onion link with TOR browser, I have the IFPS desktop app loaded and installed, the gateway of my IFPS is under the /options/ (http://127.0.0.1:8080), but none of the images are showing up at all. I know I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what it is.

1) Nope. It's perfectly fine to simply save it to a private collection.
2) Same as above. It's very easy to tell when someone's leaving a forced positive comment that says nothing at all and is the equivalent of a helium balloon - looks pretty, achieves nothing.
3) You CAN do that if you want to make it easy to continue watching their work, but you can also do something like... bookmark their page.
4) Please tell me you're joking.
You clearly have no idea how the relationship works. Support is almost always a volunteered thing. Saying it's required is straight-up insanity.

Here is my rule:
1. If you like an artist, archive everything that he/she makes and dump it to IPFS
2. Yes, everything, including paywalled and "deleted" stuff, NO exceptions!
3. IPFS because exhentai a bitch to handle, and torrenting does not allow cross-seeding.
4. If he/she is angry about this, tell them to STFU and understand that the internet has changed.
5. Only give donations to he/she if he/she understands the rationale for rules 1~4

Artists have every right to control distribution of their work, fuck you. I'm not surprised though that the fandom is packed with stupidity, since it's largely pedophiles. Pedophilia is recognized as a mental disorder.
I'm not surprised in the least that fandom pedos like supersonic250 are completely unhinged & go completely stalker on anyone who doesn't like their mental sickness fetish. Creepos like this are why sane people should own a gun for in-home protection especially in the modern age where nutcases like this can & will dox anyone who disagrees with them. Just be sure to live in a jurisdiction that allows you to blow away a trespasser. Don't count on the cops doing anything about stalker shit, they're too busy shooting unarmed blacks to go after actual threats. Shitheads like Dragoneer & Toumal also not only enable the deranged garbage that fandom pedos do but willfully punish those who the pedos hate.

If you made a sona and posted it online expecting every single of the millions of the anons to respect it, you're either naiive or an idiot. People make porn of everything from Rug-rats to Smaug, I doubt the creators like that either, but nobody cares because 'free-market'.
You may argue that Rugrats or Smaug are creative works that may have originated by individual authors, but have been (consensually) put up to be further developed by dozens to thousands of other creatives. In that sense the idea is no longer the product of any one individual--it takes on a social rather than individual character, public rather than personal. And that sonas are personal and close to the "author".
The reality is that the only difference is that the latter is published popularly and the former is not. Smaug is an OC of Tolkien's and Mohamed is a mythology of a real-life person and their ideology. The screaming and deletions and crying over sexualized OC and/or reposting "art" has nothing to do with intellectual property and everything to do with drama in response to someone using a published furry character that was put out in the open.
TL;DR: Publicly posted imagery is subject to public response and use and unlike state-property, there is nothing and no-one that will reinforce your private property except your own privatization and not publishing content.
