Post the most кино film you've ever seen.

Wait hear me out before you accuse me of shit posting, I want to actually hear what you think are the best films, in the sense that they encompass life through cinema. I've asked /tv/ and /television/ and both have failed me, I'm hoping this being the last bastion of taste on the internet can give me actual good films, the only good suggestions from the /tv/ thread were from a guy from here.

No Tarkovsky. Too easy. That is all.

He created some incredibly atmospheric and poetic films. Most criticisms are due to regularly quasi-indecipherable narratives.

OP, you already mentioned Tarkovsky so you've started on the correct path.

If you have dug through the Criterion Collection, and if you haven't seen it already, look for Marketa Lazarova (1967) and go from there.

Watch Satantango by Béla Tarr...if you have patience to watch a 7 and a half hour film.

He's heavily influenced by Tarkovsky, but obviously it's still very different from his films.

If you're affraid of the lenght, then watch any other of his films which have a more standard lenght and if you like them, then watch Satantango.

Also you can watch the Human Codition trilogy by Masaki Kobashi. Again..each one of the three chapters is very big, making a total of 9 hours.

La Terra Trema by Luchino Visconti

The Tree of Wooden Clogs by Ermanno Olmi

Hiroshima Mon Amour by Alain Resnais

The South and The Spirit of The Beehive by Victor Erice

1900 by Bernardo Bertolucci

I am Twenty by Marlen Khutsiev

Sansho, The Bailiff and The Life of Oharu by Kenji Mizoguchi

I like Gustav Deutsch as an example of editing. I'm not talking about his editing technique, but his selection and arrangement of interesting clips to create a flow of images and ideas
