ITT: Post some of your personal favorites and anons recommend some you may like

Also, include your process for finding new movies, because it's exhausting for me, personally. where's the rateyourmusic for films?

Anyhow, some of favorites:

Like visual poetry. Non stop beautiful shots, interesting sets and background.

wicked plot

Face of Another

wicked plot, very creative and aesthetic scenes (especially the doctors room)

Dreams (Yume)

GOAT material, big messages and takeaways, very poetic

Probably my favorite films.

My process for finding new movies is a combination of following Directors/writers/actors/cinematographers I like, getting recs online, and going to Blu ray.com and browsing.

Put in the hours, nobody said that it was easy... The rateyourmusic of films is a concoction of IMDB, Mubi, and letterboxd. Also some publications are good as well, and film books can't hurt.

Favorite films? Hmmm... I struggle with this question in reality as it takes a while for my brain to organize everything and then recall specific titles. I'll do 3 as >>9470 did.

Most of the time I watch films by chance. I go to a list if I want to watch a particular style/genre/country

If you liked Face of Another, you might like Seconds

As for parajanov I would like more ideas too. Countries like Ukraine and Georgia have a very interesting aesthetic. You could try Yuri Ilyenko and Tengiz Abuladze. I think both have been mentioned before on /film/ so I'm not bringing anything new

I'm not focused on anything specific right now. So I will watch things mentioned on /film/ or elsewhere that strike my interest

I thought about watching more Parajanov, perhaps one of the documentaries about him, but I'm disappointed to discover that 'not one of his films are on BD yet
