undergroundgamer was my first private tracker though.

As for movies/tv I use thepiratebay. I've only had trouble finding this one macedonian flick called punk's not dead http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1493068/

It's a nice flick, I'd recommend it if you're into the whole balkan/eastern europe thing.

what's the point in seeding rare films on public trackers when no one will leech them? shit, even on KG it can take months seeding a film (all day nearly every day) before anyone bites. currently i'm seeding the Owen Land's 'New Improved Institutional Quality' at 0.000 and it's been 17 weeks. why would i upload that to piratebay or wherever. no one there cares about cinema anyway; they download YIFY fake-720p torrents that sound like ass and rate the audio 10/10

TV-Vault is also cool but ripping old shows is tough, at least seeding there is relatively easy enough. Great place for TV movies too, shame they don't manage subtitles

I usually seed until I need to make HD space. Most of the time it's well below 1.0, but I've got a decent buffer so it doesn't really matter. Then again I never downloaded any blu-rays b/c they're too large for my taste.

Were you on the site in January? The freeleech would be a good chance to build up your ratio. Uploading works too - you'll get something like 10% bonus for seeding your own uploads.

URGENT! Secret Cinema is going into limbo.

The server will close down when the hosting contract finishes at the end of April.

We have a plan to migrate to a new server home as we cannot continue with our current host, unfortunately some serious real life troubles took down our two most important people when we were close to realising that plan.

So we invite you to our temporary home, it's a discussion forum only, where you will find many familiar people. There we will ponder how best to resurrect the one and only Secret Cinema.

They say they got their servers seized. there is a mystery message aobut a " prominent private movie tracker". is it ptp?

>Due to a court order granted to the Attorney General of Quebec with the assistance of the Special Enforcement Unit, TehConnection's servers were seized, fortunately - we run a mirror server for the front-end which allowed us to back-up data offshore from the actual server before deleting all traces of TC.

>This happened less than 30 days after the Systems Administrator of TC was threatened by a member of staff at a prominent private movie tracker. Take your guesses.

>At this time we are re-evaluating our efforts to determine what sort of set-up is necessary to prevent this from happening again as well as negotiating with hosting firms in Russia and Hong Kong to determine if they will be able to provide us with the hardware, network and support we require at a manageable cost.

>Please donate to our efforts via BTC, keep seeding the torrents, and we will try and be back as soon as possible.

PTP is 9 years old, raising user limit to 40K

Happy Birthday! (We're raising the user limit!)

<Since our last birthday, we have seen many significant changes in both PTP and the tracker community as a whole. Last year, the mammoth that was What.CD went down. Some sites are still vying to replace them as the Beyoncé of music trackers, few are likely to ever come close to its importance. Our brothers and sisters at TehConnection also took a tumble, and though at this point their recovery looks uncertain, we wish them all the best.

<Big changes have also taken place here at home, in particular on our staff team. Some of our most respected and long-reigning staffers have stepped down throughout the year.

<But PTP is strong as ever! And today we aim to become even stronger as we raise our user limit to 40,000! For the past several years PTP has had a very restrictive invite policy, primarily for security reasons. However, in the interest of creating a thriving community we've decided to relax that policy for now, and see how we fare. So hurry up and get your invites out now (but brush up on our invite rules first though!)

I'm surprised that you met the seller in person. If he's selling DVDs he probably downloads them from the site. You do get banned if they discover you bought an invite, but the inviter gets in trouble too. Recently a movie site banned one of their staff members who was caught selling invites.

I'm in some sites already, really don't use them a lot other than MMATracker, which i forgot the requirements for an invite, 50gb uploaded i think, have 15 or so with only freeleech, which rarely request data but it's a great place for instructional data

Cinematik is a pain in the ass, i don't know what to do with it and nobody wants data, TVVault is ok but also on freeleech because you get in the red easily, getting invites there is pretty hard too

I'm done for with PTP, at least for this year, but i will manage to get in sooner or later because i get the feeling Hawkmenblues will get slapped

I could always buy one but they are pretty expensive, at least a year ago, and the risk you mentioned is very well known. Basically i will download everything i can and make lists of stuff i cannot find until something happens

>Cinematik is a pain in the ass, i don't know what to do with it and nobody wants data

bookmark what you're interested in and wait for a freeleech, try to get in on freeleech first day so you can seed after leech

once you got a little wiggle room on ratio, you can snag new torrents very early and if you got a decent connection rate, seed it back and more

lots of stuff at CG, KG that are exact duplicates at tik so you can download that content then grab the torrent file from tik and if it matches hashes, seed it there

seed, seed, seed... or don't seed if it remains unseeded for 100 days (iirc) it's bumpable, then reseed it and the bump will get attention, good strategy to deploy at free leech when new uploads are prohibited, you can flood the recent torrents with bumped deads

these are the games you play to be the cinema archiver

>I like buying physical copies but some rarer films

I like supporting the industry because most of the lesser known films are from small independent production companies or independent owners and not studios, the elements are often improperly stored, or passed along to an heir that views as worthless junk, and many are simply lost.

These titles only get restored because small independent labels spend the time seeking them out, licensing, and restoring them. I'll still shop around for the best deal, but many of the niche labels are only available direct or from a few specialty retailers anyways.

Granted, I don't have the money to buy them all, but many of the limited releases are a one-time no repress distribution and can hold their value quite well. Some of the titles I've accumulated are now out of print and sell for many times the value I bought them at on ebay. So I tend to stick to the limited pressing releases because they hold value in the long run.

I do download a lot of stuff but that's just to make sure I don't forget about a recc half the time. Also you don't need 'time' once you've established yourself on the trackers, when you have enough buffer you can just click and seed. I barely even think about it as a thing I have to keep up now as I don't need any upload and my pc is always on so I don't get hit & runs. Plus i'm on every site so climbing the pyramid isn't a concern.

Lot's of private tracker folks here.. I've always meant to get into the scene but never have (largely due to concerns like >>1325).

They are worth it for me but it depends what you want to watch and how you want to watch it. Now there are many alternatives like streaming sites. Years ago private torrent sites were the ONLY place to find rare films online, unless you wanted to pay some grey market dealer.

> Wouldn't it make more sense if everyone hosted on there as well?

If everything was in one place, then it would be easier for authorities to take all of it down at once. That has happened twice with the major music torrent sites -- first oink then what.cd. There have been constant attempts to take down Pirate Bay too.

I am not happy with these personally, I vastly prefer downloading. I don't understand why rare films aren't also available more commonly on public sites like RuTracker (more on that below).

>if everything were in one place, then it would be easier for authorities to take all of it down at once.

This is true only if people also stopped using private trackers entirely. My point was more about seeding in both public and private domains, but perhaps that's asking too much. I don't know how rich private tracker communities are, but they strike me as having much more to offer than my public selection. It would be great if public trackers offered as much, but this will only happen if private tracker folks begin seeding publically.

>I have filled many request for this board

I know you are talking about a broader topic, but to take rutracker as an example, it would be impossible to upload everything there. First it is difficult for most people to give a torrent description in Russian. Secondly all uploads on rutracker must have a Russian language option - either original audio, subs or [over]dub. This rule eliminates most rare films.

TehConnection is back

https://tehconnection.me/register

>I came to the decision to relaunch TehConnection myself due to the sad fact that the original site disappeared without trace several months ago. I am a firm believer in the here and the now and I don't believe in waiting for something that very well may never happen no matter how good their intentions are. So with that mindset I set about exploring the idea of relaunching TehConnection myself. As you can see we're not using Gazelle and instead are using UNIT3D a new, fresh and up to date script based off the lovely Laravel Framework. I do realize that some people may prefer the old look and Gazelle. However, I seriously did consider going with Gazelle but decided against it once I saw how wonderful this codebase is out of the box. It is my belief it will serve us very well, and it is my hope that you will all join me in rebuilding the movies library that the old site once had.

Well, in terms of actors and directors, there's still plenty to pick out, although finding complete sets of certain directors might be difficult.

Nagisa Oshima might be an interesting person to pick, i was surprised to not see him when i checked that list, taking into account his controversial nature and fame. Walter Hill is somewhat "mainstream" and over played, but his body of work is worth noting, at least in the overall tones.

Might be too soon, but the South Korean Wave (1998-2008) is also plentiful, it has too many plastic facades and colors in its list, but there's a lot of interesting works there. Chinese

"Fifth Generation" also comes to mind, even if only for Yimou and Kaige.

Why not a good ol irish drinking month or a Yugoslav Wars month depicted by every side.

Maybe revisit Third Reich cinema with soundtracks and literature addendum? Italian Fascism, Soviet and Weimar had them well enough

I mean i find the current theme a blanket one to pick a bunch of crumbs laying around, but i'm not really against it, i just find it bizarre taking into account some bubbles here and there.

I was very surprised to see Cananea (1977) was made by a woman, taking into account the general topic is manly as Conan, but sad to read that it's mostly about the commie aspects/laborers' rights instead of the actual petitions by the mine's workers (8-hours shift instead of 12, better rooms because pic related, cancelling the law that expels all booze and musicians from the general area, effectively ending the workers' saloons)

It's not one of the first houses there but it is the first 2-level house

>Latinx

Nothing, it means nothing at all. A term invented around foreign gender studies to have a "neutral" term when talking about all the latin american population.

Neutral because something ending with "o" is usually masculine, with "a" is most of the times feminine. And when talking about everyone (with both genders mixed) in a certain area we use the "e" or the "o" termination, with a trusty, pluralizing "s" of course: musicos (musicians), perros (dogs), gatos (cats), pajaros (birds)...

Latinos sounding too "male-ish" for some, latinx was invented but in spanish-speaking places nobody uses the x in that way, so only those weird folks end up using that word. And Latins cannot be used because those are the very important folks from Latium.

At the end of the day it's a lost battle from the beginning because latinos use the term "hispanic" much more often, simply because this term (derived from Hispania) means anyone in America descended from the Spanish culture and/or doctrine, which means anyone except brazilians and island people. And this is a VERY important distinction.

It's not like the contemporary female filmmakers from South America are the talk at every major film festival nowadays, right? They totally aren't de facto shaping out to be one of the most interesting unspoken movements in the cinema of the recent years. We should steer far away from identity politics and instead go for a theme that has not only already been done before, but is even more political than that (although. thankfully like most triggered /pol/babies I'm too uneducated to know that so it's perfectly fine after all since I'm not even planning on engaging in it beyond namedropping it to sound like I'm in the know)

The first Armour of God is also decent, personal opinion i prefer it from the second one.

I would also include Once Upon a Time in China 2, only because it has Jet Li against Don Yen, but it's not as good as the first and the subtitles are somewhat off even in the Bluray version. The stunts are just as good even if it is the only thing going for it, they have no solid justifications behind it, characters really don't have any build-up. Only if you loved the first.

And i think Police Story was in the list back there, even when it was only distributed by GH i believe. Just checked and yes, it's there, guess the list also includes movies distributed, but not made, by them.

That makes it more outrageous, A Chinese Ghost Story, Fist of Legend, Tai Chi Master, and some Stephen Chow comedies, if you like his highly repetitive style.

Can someone help me? I'd like to get into a lossless music tracker like Pedro's and maybe something more inclusive like what.cd or mutracker. I'd also like to get into something for ebooks in case libgen goes down, and of course some /film/ approved trackers.

Can we start our own tracker? I've been meaning to do this for years but have never gotten around to it

Redacted is the best music tracker right now. Most of the content is flac. You can try following this guide to join: https://interviewfor.red/en/index.html

You probably won't get a Pedros invite unless you prove yourself somewhere else.

I think you can get to PTP via RED. First you must get to Elite on RED, which is not easy.

CG is hard to join right now. THC should be easier and they have some overlapping content. If you are on PTP, try to become a Power User to access the invites section.

Over a year ago I saw people talking about using the IRC channel to join. I can't guarantee it works right now, but you could try. You would need to have good stats on other sites for them to invite you.
