I made a chart to post in a 3x3 thread on 4chan but it turns out my IP has been banned, so I will just leave it here.

Top middle looks familiar but I can't place it. What's the first image with the girl?
I noticed the person who made the small, blurry rip of La Fórmula Secreta is on cinemageddon. Apparently the file is 12 years old and still no one has upgraded it (unless you know of one). It's probably too hard to find copies of the vhs.

It's almost impossible to find a VHS copy, fortunately enough i watched it on my local theatre
Top middle: Dreams That Money Can Buy, by Richter
Top Left: On an Empty Balcony (En el balcón vacío)
you got a chart?

nice local theatre
>Dreams That Money Can Buy, by Richter
oh yeah, it's been a few years since I watched it. Do you know other 1940's surrealist films? DTMCB is the only one I've watched.
I'll try to post a chart tomorrow

Thanks, I'll watch those when I get a chance.
Dreams That Money Can Buy is technically feature length, but it's essentially a series of surrealist shorts.
It really stood out for me though. It's unusual to see an experimental film with a decent budget from the 1940's.

Just in case you're asking how to generate screenshots
in VLC - Video > Take Snapshot
in MPC-HC - File > Save Image...
But first you can open Preferences/Options to choose to save as .png (best quality) and to set the destination folder for the image

I decided to make a chart of mostly accessible hidden gems that are not on DVD. It took longer than I expected...
Some hints:
One of these is from a director with 3 Oscars
one won an Oscar for acting
one is hard Swedish scifi
one is experimental on laserdisc
one is a miniseries
one has taboo subject matter which may account for it's rarity

It's cool to see how he got started and where he got the name "Amblin Entertainment". The bootleg copy is very washed out thought, giving it a faraway atmosphere. It has some interesting visual ideas despite the cheap production.
>interestingly enough though, i was tempted to put La ville des pirates on my chart at first
Yeah that's a stunning experience. So what are the other ones in your chart?

On an empty balcony, Dreams that money can buy, 322 (dusan hanak)
Alaverdoba, La formula secreta, De Mieren
Tren de Sombras, Maborosi, Olga i el tempo

Thanks man, I'm looking up those titles. I'll have to watch Tren de Sombras sometime because I like when nitrate fragments are assembled into a new project.
BTW I guess there is a DVD for Water and Power. The director released it himself but it didn't show up when I googled.
