Left is The Blind Owl, someone recommended it here. There's a lot to digest, but in a good way I think. Multiple languages, multiple nested stories.
Right is A Diary of Chuji's Travels. A Japanese silent samurai serial (though not much fighting). This film has no dvd release and the print is partially missing, so I find it appealingly enigmatic. And it's interesting to sample pre-war Japanese culture. Overall I liked this one too. The story was decent and the filmmaking wasn't nearly as primitive as I expected.
