Hey /film/ I'm gathering a bunch of movies for October. I stream them on a chat site and am aiming for less populists films that a general audience may have not seen. I should probably add a few crowd-pleasers but what do you think thus far and what would you add?
Here's the link to the spreadsheet, all the movies are hyperlinked to their letterboxd profiles.

Who is the audience and how much time are you expecting to fill?
That list seems like a pretty good collection of essentials. I might choose something else for Bava (Bay of Blood and perhaps Blood and Black Lace) and Fulci (Seven Black Notes) but it's really a matter of personal taste.
I might also add silents (like Faust and Dr Caligari) and maybe some Universal horror (although I'm not the biggest fan). Is there anything from Hammer in there?

The site was born out of 4chan and usually the audience like's more generic entertaining movies, they're open to new things though, I try and walk a line between indie/arthouse and weird stuff they haven't seen. If it's too patrician though nobody watches.
I usually stream a movie or 2 most nights so yeah looking to fill the calendar up. I don't have any Hammer movies nor have I seen any, got any favorites?

I don't want to get an advertising ban but here's a link to stuff we've streamed recently and you can find the site through there. Come by if you like. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/brettygood#announcements

The Cremator is worth considering. Most people like it when they see it. I agree the Universal horror films can be underwhelming but I like Island of Lost Souls.

For Hammer you could try Christopher Lee Dracula movies since he recently died. Another RIP pick is They Live if that counts as horror.
Then there's goofy horror like Army of Darkness which might be fun for a group. Or the original Ghostbusters so everyone can avoid the remake. Both are pretty popular of course.

is it really worth it having the entire Phantasm?

a few silents sounds like a good idea. I would recommend a page of madness on how striking and relentless it is. I'm not sure if it's scary but it's Dark Enough while being one of the most dizzying and nightmarishly expressive films I've ever seen.
Haxen is also great. I'm not sure of a more thematically Halloween silent.

I see a giallo trend. I recommend these.
If you haven't watched any yet, you could start with Blood and Black Lace since it was the first successful giallo
Amer and Berberian Sound Studio are a couple of newer films that are very much inspired by classic giallo

Were any of you guys on 4chan during October 2013 when there were many posts every day asking for links to watch this? It must have been the filmmakers trying to generate online hype. I don't know how anyone else would have known about it.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play. Pontypool isn't really scary but its one i would recommend. Its a radio play adapted to film so has this unusual quality about it. That and a concept you don't see tackled that often hiding behind what at first masquerades as a zombie film.
Its no The Exorcist or Society in terms of classic horror films but the opening sold me on it very well.
