The new movie from Peter Strickland is just out on bluray. Thoughts?

Lush cinematography and set design. Some nice symbolism. Storytelling is very straightforward, not much depth or subtext. Definitely refreshing if you see it for what it is, a softcore porn movie.

The opening titles reminded me of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNWiA8_5ixA … at least there's a slight similarity. Other aspects made me think of The Collector, The Image and Innocence.
The story was indeed straightforward, with little of the elliptical editing that dominated Berberian Sound Studio. Strickland does however carry over his object fetishism, this time focused on sexuality rather than audiophilia.
I liked his unexpected take on the relationship dynamics.

Another film you should consider is Lorna the Exorcist. This project began as a remake of it.

One of the most enjoyable films I've seen this year, just great on all accounts. The two leads worked beautifully together. I was glad to see the English tradition of mixing deviant sex with entomology, a la Angels and Insects, is being kept alive. The comedic moments were all undersold and genuinely hilarious. Fucking great audio work, even better than Berberian Sound Studio.
It's awesome that Ben Wheatley helped produce this, that guy is on my wavelength.

> Fucking great audio work
It's cool the director is into field recordings. That's what people listen to when mere music has lost its appeal, ha ha. I think he actually released an LP of the sounds of mole crickets.

Really? That's weird if true because the two movies have nothing in common except the idea of older+younger lesbians
Lorna the Exorcist is weird itself. But nothing to do with exorcism so the title was probably trying to ride the success of The Exorcist

Watched about half of the trailer before I trashed it.
Looks like typical dyke garbage with some nice visuals.
