Seven Samurai is the most common place to start

From there you can go in many directions. Some of his best films are Rashomon, Ikiru, Ran, Yojimbo, High and Low, Throne of Blood.

I would really recommend watching Red Beard after you get done with the ones above.

It's his most underrated film and I would say one of his top 5.
