Ito's style is too spuratic and too good for Yume Nikki. No offense. Someone like David Lynch would probably fill it in better. No offense. At least in terms of game content and not trying to make a good movie. No offense.

I can see that, but I can't see Matsumoto or any other director better or even a bit less better than him doing a Yume Nikki film well beyond visuals, it would end up like the Super Mario Bros movie, on it's own it's a fantastic film, but the directors would either be too innovative not to make the movie less about the game and more about their personal adaptation, or there wouldn't be enough content to make enough of a movie so they add a lot more or take some away. If you want a good Yume Nikki movie you're better off with Lynch and some big studio funding the whole thing.

Equally so after finally viewing some gameplay Yume Nikki is as I assumed was too slow and "realistic" of a game to make cinematically surreal, just the setting would be surreal.
As far as things go I'm certain the way to go is CGI everywhere with someone like Lynch directing it. At it's core Yume Nikki is just not good enough to have the film you envision for it made.
