Could you please suggest films that present psychedelic sequences or are psychedelic in general? Film tier only, no Gaspar Noe bullshit, /tv/ crap.

Very interesting. Looks like it could go in the anarchy thread.

Thanks,I've never heard the name and will look into more of his work, haven't really made the leap into "video art" or "experimental shorts" yet so this could prove as a slight departure from Brakhage.
>>11763
Beautiful, I'll check out the DVD too.

I've seen many films, but I'm not even remotely as well versed as most people here. I've browsed /film/ off and on for around a year and half now.
I've seen Hourglass Sanatorium and I enjoyed it but it didn't make a great impression on me, but I don't discount the director nor the film and will give it another shot. Also know about Zeman but haven't seen any of his films yet. Thanks for the input.

Never was a fan of the particular aesthetic but no doubt thank you for contributing to the thread.
I started this thread because I saw a movie in the theaters (haven't been in a long time) called Annihilation. If you want to go out and see a really good flick definitely check it out. I wouldn't be deterred by the female cast or anything political, it's actually good.
And that is where there is a small problem even with all the generosity, none of these really fit the aesthetic I'm talking about. They are all psychedelic but I mean more akin to the effects you would feel off of lsd, psilocybin mushrooms,or DMT, aka in your face psychedelia. Almost like a youtube DMT trip but with a narrative and something that is actually good.

That's a tough one because smaller-budget stuff probably won't have great effects.
I think there are some animated bits in DMT The Spirit Molecule, but I don't remember if they are particularly good

don't laugh but try watching La La Land on acid, its context becomes more Mephistophelian and the use of strong colour with the scene transitions and music produce synthesia

Indeed it is. I don't really care so much for the effects quality, more of the narrative skill involved. But totally agreed, I think I'm looking for a unicorn. Oh well then.
>>11804
I'm not laughing but if you read original post I explicitly said /film/ tier only, if I'm not mistaken La La Land doesn't fit that criteria.

Interesting, looking for a narrative though, well a concrete one at least. Than you for sharing.

OP here. I just finished watching Wax or The Discovery of Television Among the Bees. This is probably the closest thing to what I was looking for as far as psychedelic visuals that are carried by a narrative (and a good one at that!). I'll probably rent Blair's series The Telepathic Motion Picture of the Lost Tribes next. Has anyone seen that one yet? Thoughts maybe?

If you're up for animation, I'd recommend Nokto de la Galaksia Fervojo (albeit it's a very slow-paced film, so in that regard it may be the opposite of what you're looking for) and the films of Rene Laloux (La Planete sauvage, Les Maitres du temps, Gandahar).
