My fellow shazbots, it's happened. The EU just passed article 11 and 13 basically aggressive copyright enforcement of all uploaded content, it also includes "link tax". With the content control centers that will be set up, and the new AI that will be build, we are nearing china levels of technocrat-olligarcy. This is the point where we really need to innovate and create alternative platforms for normies, where they are given freedom.

For starters, someone could make a program that automatically puts an unnoticeable filter over images you upload, changing a few pixels so as to avoid detection. Of course you'd have to test the tolerances of their filters.

I always hated "muh secret club" closed-off invite-only online communities, for reasons I still think are valid.
But recently I started to rethink my position, because they might be really strong defence against this kind of corporate/government meddling that we have to deal with more and more in recent years.
Just by minimizing your public surface area and retreating into private spaces you can make a lot of these stupid laws pretty much unenforceable and violations undetectable.
Of course, this is not a perfect solution. They still can get you through metadata and inflitrate your inner circle if they really want to. Or just make private gathering themselves illegal (there are historical precendents for this). But it could be a good fundament for future work.
I am also really into public Unix systems like http://sdf.org or http://tilde.club
In addititon to being a Unix system as it was intended (i.e. mulituser, runiing on a server), it can provide all of the benefits of private online space for tech-minded without some of the downsides that usually come with them.
I even was planning to set up a small server just for me and some of my friends (though I doubt they will be really into it), and I guess I should put higher priority on those plans now.

Also, when Russian government started really going after online posters, a lot of people quit social media and switched to mobile messaging apps, which do put standard social media model on it's head: private one-on-one messaging is default, then private group chat is next level, and then sometimes you can set up a public channel if you really want to.
And so far I don't remember hearing about anyone getting in trouble for something he posted there, so this shit appears to be working.

Speaking of machine learning. Here is confirmation that Google is "investing" in it to through searches to the left.
Leaked Google meeting:

>CEO Sundar Pichai states that the company will develop machine learning and A.I. to combat what an employee described as “misinformation” shared by “low-information voters.”
>(00:54:33) An employee asks what Google is going to do about “misinformation” and “fake news” shared by “low-information voters.” Pichai responds by stating that “investments in machine learning and AI” are a “big opportunity” to fix the problem.

Not really surprised that Google was actually the culprit they accused others of being. I wonder when the animal will finally croak? Not that I'm counting my eggs before they've hatched, considering how much Alphabet and co have gotten away with, but surely there'll be a breaking point when action is formally taken against them.
Also:
Leftist corporations vs centrist/right-wing government, this sure is bizarro world alright.
though considering how subversive communists and secret society people operate, perhaps not so much

They're after "muh secret clubs" too remember.
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/commentisfree/2018/sep/10/online-echo-chambers-hate-facebook-bill
They may be talking about Facebook right now, but that will work down to other messaging services and even the chans, given our unifying desire for anonymity if nothing else.
We need to fully decentralize the internet, bring back local ISPs and meshnets who aim no higher than servicing single towns or even a few streets.
Facebook might market itself as letting the world talk to each other but for the vast majority they only interact with those they know IRL, so if they're geographically close to one another why does their communication have to go through data centers in foreign countries?

Don't forget how heavily intertwined Google is with the NSA and CIA. Literally from Google's conception they have been hand in glove. Therefor, I doubt action will be taken against them.
It seems more like Deep State backed (((Commies))) vs. Limpdick neo-cons that only get hard for bombing the middle east, and have no knowledge of the internet at all.
The de-platforming of dissidents began months ago, and has only escalated. Google literally helps the Chinese nab wrongthinkers, and maniacs like Hillary Clinton praise their internet model. Also the EU bs mentioned in OP, all adds up to I don't fucking like this.

Telegram rolls its own crypto and should be avoided.
Signal has the best rep for security but requires a phone number to register, posting that publicly would be retarded.
Tox does not need a phone number, but is P2P, so you would be handing your IP directly to freaks. Some clients do have Tor support to mitigate this however.
If the intent is privacy not just from CIA niggers but also each other, Tox is the one to use.

Battery consumption on phones seems to be sky-high as well, though it may just be the client I'm using. That makes not being able to send messages without all users being online a nuisance, though that's the price to be paid if you want P2P.
Privacy is good for private conversations but it doesn't do much for this board as a whole, better off encouraging people to use Tor and post here through the onion URL.

What if this were hosted over the hyperboria CjDNS network? Utilizing something a little different than Tor, it is an active, public meshnetwork that utilizes high-encryption. I believe there is also a way to configure anonymizing routes… but creating a chat over hyperboria does involve more technical ability… only for the l3g1t.
