My fellow shazbots, it's happened. The EU just passed article 11 and 13 basically aggressive copyright enforcement of all uploaded content, it also includes "link tax". With the content control centers that will be set up, and the new AI that will be build, we are nearing china levels of technocrat-olligarcy. This is the point where we really need to innovate and create alternative platforms for normies, where they are given freedom.

Eh neocons seem to be on the way out, at least if 2016 actually holds true as trend in the long term. Alphabet soup agencies and (((silicon valley))) certainly have their history though.

The technology is here, it's just that no one uses it. Unfortunately the circa 2010 hype just died out. Doesn't mean you can't roll your own with your neighbors though, you just need the equipment and willpower to do so.

Yeah but those apps still depend on a centralized server that can be blocked or shut-down
What we need is a truly decentralized alternative that can't be compromised

Nice term, and who decides who is "low-information"?
Something tells me a lot of these companies are less worried about muhracism and far more about how the right is turning against certain corporations like themselves
Just the antiglobalization thing would cost them billions, apple stock took a dive when they admitted the tariffs thing would hit them

Telegram rolls its own crypto and should be avoided.
Signal has the best rep for security but requires a phone number to register, posting that publicly would be retarded.
Tox does not need a phone number, but is P2P, so you would be handing your IP directly to freaks. Some clients do have Tor support to mitigate this however.
If the intent is privacy not just from CIA niggers but also each other, Tox is the one to use.

Within the Tox GUI, within the network tab. Simply route traffic to your Tor Socksv5 Proxy port.
Much like getting a browser to route traffic through Tor.

maybe starting a privacy thread would be good idea, i have a lot of stuff to discuss about it

Battery consumption on phones seems to be sky-high as well, though it may just be the client I'm using. That makes not being able to send messages without all users being online a nuisance, though that's the price to be paid if you want P2P.
Privacy is good for private conversations but it doesn't do much for this board as a whole, better off encouraging people to use Tor and post here through the onion URL.

so far ive found this chatroom: danschatjr7qbwip.onion
also, if any anon could explain to me how to make an onion or pointed me on some kind of guide, i would be very grateful for that

What if this were hosted over the hyperboria CjDNS network? Utilizing something a little different than Tor, it is an active, public meshnetwork that utilizes high-encryption. I believe there is also a way to configure anonymizing routes… but creating a chat over hyperboria does involve more technical ability… only for the l3g1t.

Not something I'm familiar with yet. Aside from the technical ability needed to set it up, how complicated is it for the end-user to use?

It's a bit more involved to join the network, you also have to establish a point of trust with another private node or utilize a public node. The underlying principle is true p2p.

Will do, it's proving to be a rabbithole to ensure my settings are properly configured… I've got the IRC and Tor config process done, then realized the clock on the server was way off, and not correcting itself off NTP like any other normal, well behaved *nix box. My options are running out, I may have to try something else and have it grab the time from another local, always-on device such as my router, or my roommate's alexa…
At least it's not a *nix with systemd <(*.^)>
