Thoughts on Esperanto? Any speakers? Where do you shazbots hang out?
I always associated it as being /cyber/ given the international nature while being particularly well-facilitated by the modern age.

Moreover, in line with this, John Quijada (Ithkuil's creator) has stated he does not believe a speaker would think necessarily any faster, because even though Ithkuil is terse, a single word requires a lot more thought before it can be spoken than it would in a natural language.[38]

Esperanto is fucking gay, what really caught my eye as a conlang with linga franca potential is Latin Sine Flexione, latin whitout inflections, which is basically simplified latin. It sounds very similar to many romance language and is easily learned by anyone.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latino_sine_flexione
There's also LFN (Lingua Franca Nova) which is similar but sounds too spanish and italian for my tastes.

countries ally with eachother, companies buy and merge with eachother, and the "divide and conquer" strategy works just as well to destroy places/groups/things

Pretty much esperanto anyway. Why not just learn Actual Latin ? If people actually gave a fuck they could. Average people in countries that are not the US speak 2-4 languages. Its not an irrealstic idea to think many Americans could speak spanish/chinese in the future as 2nd, or 3rd languages.

Spanish and Arabic, etc. might be far more useful as "on the ground" languages depending on where you are and whether you might have to low-life. It should be immediately clear to you if that's the case though. I wouldn't prescribe them as part of the cyberpunk package more than being aware of your surroundings.

No, English has almost twice as many speakers as Spanish. Spanish indeed has ~30% more native speakers, but i still don't think that justifies your statement.

English isn't a modern Esperanto, English existed prior to esperanto and evolved organically as a natural language.
Esperanto is an artificial constructed language with a small, hyper regular grammar, and simplified tense system designed for practical communication - Esperanto doesn't have the rich tenses of a natural language.
Esperanto is faster to learn by a factor of like 2, because of its lack of expressiveness.
It was hoped by Zamenhoff that esperanto would become an international auxiliary language so that people could communicate directly without translators, and without a party having a linguistic advantage owing to better understanding of a language than another. This was supposed to facilitate diplomacy and understanding.
Ironically, this rather than being hated by right-wing extremests as cosmopolitan globalism it should actually be favored and encouraged because it allows unique national languages to exist while creating markedly secondary global culture. It preserves rather than eradicates national differences. The internet global communications technology are likely instead to erode national languages in the long run -(cf. Koreans using English Words, Frence bitching about words related to English , etc.)

I'm not English native. Only Anglos think the is something right wing about English. Most of the da rest of the world considers it the /cyber/ language. No reason to promote this garbage language when East India Company made sure the world speaks in English other than a change for the sake of change.

>but history has consistently shown that grouping up to have a bigger, stronger, or wealthier tribe than the next bunch over is what strengthens nations
You got memed on. Unification is only long-term beneficial in certain contexts and up to a certain point, the classic contrasting examples being Europe and China. It's rather more complicated than this, but China fucked itself by unifying. Whereas Europe would have done the same thing and stagnated, but benefited from a peculiar geography that historically prevented it going full-retard with EU sooner.
Empires and super-mega states like US/USSR/EU have some benefits, of course. They're better at doing some things than their small constituent nations would as separate republics or whatever. And if you wanna rule the world, you do it with a super-state. But, long term it's not what you want if you're truly interested in humanity progressing. It's really only what you want if you're trying to build an all-powerful security state. It's what you want if you want to put humanity on lock-down. Otherwise, you need the smaller nations as "labs" to do things differently and compete, which brings-out the best.

It's honestly the kinda language your kids could make up.
In all honesty it probably sounds cute because of the compromises made to make it easier, such as words not being able to end in anything but simple vowels and n, also the alphabet only consists of like 14 characters.
It has its own script as well, though that's not important.
