Hey, /cyber/.
I'm doing something that uses some board-tans, and it got me thinking on what's the status of board-tans and mascots overall on 8ch. Over the next few days I'll be asking around other boards, to possibly catalogue them somewhere eventually- do you guys have one, a board-tan, a mascot?
Over a year after the board's creation, was the idea ever approached, did you reach some conclusion, do you want one, not want one? What's your shpiel, basically?

To be fair, the "pink mohawk" users have created a lot of good OC before for cyber-tan, while nearly everyone else just complaints, with some not-so-good OC (based on a single anon's view) around. The big exception being the six-armed tan that has everything thrown on it without making much sense/being coherent to cyberpunk in general.

Generally speaking, the key to making a successful board-tan design is usually to find a good balance between reflecting the interests and idiosyncrasies of the board and making the design simple enough that artists at a wide variety of skill levels can draw the character easily. To that end, the designs in >>30793 and >>31013 aren't likely to work out that well due to having too many little details, though the latter option could work if the design was simplified. >>33195 is a simpler design, but isn't that good from an aesthetic standpoint, and >>33470 got an initial positive reaction, but people seem to have lost interest in it.
It looks like a lot of the pieces are already in place for creating a good board-tan for /cyber/, it's just a matter of fitting them together in a way that everyone can agree with.

I thought that the focus of cyberpunk was a high level of technology and low life.
Get a simple design that focuses on the low life. A hoodie, ragged jeans, cheap sneakers, maybe a leather jacket for cheap protection. She should be pale, but the skin color is not really relevant.
Then, add the cyber details. The staple things are good, like a faux mohawk with port holes on the bald spot, laser eyes, maybe a respirator. Add one extra cybernetic part, like an arm or a leg for the sake of simplicity, and an electronic gadget, preferibly wired into her.

It's been two years and /cyber/ still doesn't have a board-tan. Not even sure how many of users from the old days are still around. The post before yours is actually replying to someone from exactly a year ago.
This might sound greedy, but I don't think it makes sense for /cyber/ to have a single board-tan. You're looking for a "complete interpretation of /cyber/-tan" but if there's anything the past two years have shown it's that nobody can agree on what a /cyber/-tan would be, and that's probably for the best.
In any case, I think you have a lot of material from this thread to work with, eager to see what you can come up with. From my perspective, it's better to just stick to your own guns and throw out a design you think is cool; everybody else can just argue about why they think it's shit after the fact.

Cyberpunk has always been fairly nihilistic, in that sense. A "cyberpunk" (that is, a main character in some sort of cyberpunk media) rarely is a political activist. More often than not, it's someone who is too busy trying to survive in an apathetic world to even think about changing stuff for the better for everyone else. Cyberpunk usually also deals with desensitization and detachment of society or humanity, so expecting a "cyberpunk" to give a fuck about anyone but himself is stupid. Fuck, if this were D&D, your average citizen (and most "heroes") in a cyberpunk society would range between true neutral and chaotic neutral; good characters would be rare as hell and generally being fucked from all sides, and evil characters would make the majority of the elite population, as well as many low life punks. Reminds me of /v/ surprising themselves of everyone in the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer being so mean to each other for no reason at all. Yeah well, it's always been like that.
No, nobody gives a fuck about being an anarchist who will change the world to be honest, that reeks of optimist dystopian young adult fiction, which can actually be cyberpunk, but far from a representative of the genre, because they are too busy trying not to die. Besides, there is no point in trying when the roots of power are so big and sturdy.
