It is, but depending on the medium it's not that bad.

The movie and OVAs follow the manga and are just as graphic. But the original 1984 Toei anime is pretty toned down compared to the manga. Peoples heads still explode but it is shown as a stylized black and white silhouette.

With, anime, sexualization or "fanservice" is fairly tame, so it's limited to stuff like pantyshots, cleavage or exposed legs. There's hentai anime with sex-scenes, but that's low-budget content with different distribuition, and a seperate thing. In real anime, kissing and handholding is as lewd as it gets. Stuff like Kaguya-sama and New Game are wholesome, man. Much better than the adult entertainment that's made by the West.

>nihilism

Now you've lost me completely. I've watched anime for a decade, and I've never encountered one in which the protagonist isn't a good person by Christian standards and, at the same time, is portrayed in a positive light. There's Death Note, which is a great show by the way, but the main character is obviously drunk on power.

>materialism in anime

That's a first. Sounds like you've been spending too much time at the commie board.

Anyone here reading Tonikaku Cawaii? It's pretty wholesome and a great manga so far about a dedicated cute couple do cute couple things. It also has the best statement about love and marriage I have ever seen from a non-Christian (well, I don't know the state of Kenjiro's soul, but I'm being a bit too presumptuous due to Japan's current spiritual state).

Hadn't heard of it before. I'll check it out. I also have one to recommend: Sounan desu ka? It's about a couple of girls that are stranded on an isolated island. Cute girls cutely surviving in an unforgiving land. Due to reasons, one of the girls is an expert on stuff like edible flora and fauna, shelter- and tool-building and trapmaking, so the manga's fairly educational. And the art's great.

For the current anime season, I'm watching Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai, which is a show about a couple of students that are struggling with their interpersonal relationships and schoolwork, and Kenja no Mago, which is a very well-made fantasy isekai. People should be willing to watch content that is a little bit more challenging. For example, the main theme in Legend of the Galactic Heroes, which was mentioned earlier in this thread, is examining political systems and their respective strengths and weaknesses. The central conflict is between democracy and autocracy. This gets a nuanced treatment of the sort that's just plain beyond American storytelling.

In general the West seems to like to tie up all stories neatly with a little bow on top. Japan is willing to be more open and invite thinking from the viewer about the ending.

In my judgment, that is pornographic. It's an array of semi nude (western?) anime girls. It's also gross to look at.

It was definitely Western and from tumblr. I've seen that picture earlier when it was first discovered and made fun of.

How could anyone confuse that abomination for actual anime girls? The styles are not remotely similar. Someone on tumblr was complaining about realism and body diversity. That person was very likely a tranny because the "improved" versions of the Love Live characters ended up looking like ugly aging men.

Pictured: the actual Love Live characters.

File: c22a6ae6f3de81b⋯.jpg (73.23 KB,335x500,67:100,Gyo.jpg)

Gyo is an anime movie I can't really recommend as Christian anime for being horror and gruesome horror at that. Even I don't really like it but rather find it well executed and interesting. You know, like those classics that people don't read for fun except in this case the problem isn't boredom.

The anime movie is based on a manga, but the anime changes and rearranges a lot of things. Only the anime is interesting from a Christian perspective.

One thing about the anime is that the monsters seem to act as moral agents in a way that's implied to be more than plot contrivance if you pay attention.

Gyo doesn't give much in the way of explanations for the events, but a viewer can piece out some things from the scattered clues. The entire story can be seen as an unusual treatment of Revelation 16 inflicted on a world where no one seems to make the religious connection and the people in Japan don't pay attention to what goes on outside of Japan.

I bring you Pretty Cure.

Did you know that magical girls can be a Christian allegory? It's about spiritual warfare. When the Cures transform they put on the Armor of God.

Speaking just about HeartCatch, the heart flowers are so obviously souls that I don't think it can be denied. Continuing from that allegorical detail, it becomes apparent that the Cures are fighting the forces of Hell.

There are also good, healthy messages all around.

Haibane Renmei is a truly excellent anime.

Seeing those characters with wings and halos gives the first impression that the anime is Christian… but it isn't really… except maybe it really is, even if questionably orthodox. Haibane Renmei is another one of those that leave important things for the viewer to figure out.

In general, Haibane Renmei is the sort of series that makes you laugh and cry with the characters and has no violence at all despite being made for adult audiences. Overall the show is hopeful and happy, which the sad parts help bring to a greater focus.

I've seen Madoka. It is massively overrated. Consider this post an anti-recommendation.

Madoka is above all despite the cute visuals a grimdark series about young girls falling into despair and dying. It's like a worse Bokurano with magical girls instead of giant mechas. Bokurano was likely a major influence. Madoka likes to have a major plot twist in every episode, but once you look back at the plot, you notice that the successive twists made a pretzel of nonsense. It's pretentious nonsense too.

Deep down Madoka's worldview is very much incompatible with Christianity. The things that might be considered similarities are on closer look more like opposites. I'm currently approaching a hurry, so I'll let a deeper explanation lie.

The fight choreography in Madoka is really bad too. It mostly amounts to the participants doing their damage-dealing thing until someone dies.

Mami's theme was cool, though. I'm not gonna argue the fact that the anime is overrated, but it's not that bad. Heck, I'd say it's decent enough. Are there better options? Sure, but that on itself doesn't make it bad. The twists near the end are surprising enough to leave most watchers pleasantly surprised, which may be the reason why so many people have fond memories of it.

I personally (same anon, different computer) am tired of the grimdark trend and the deconstructions. I suppose Madoka isn't that bad because I managed to finish it, but it's the kind of anime that really doesn't bear thinking about it after the fact, such as the role of the magical girls in the world and the related physics.

Now that I think about it, one way to make the plot make sense when taken as a whole is to take the story as Christian so that QB is really the Devil and most of the surprise revelations are blatant lies that the show never bothers to correct. The suffering of the main characters is because of QB's subtle and complicated off-screen manipulations and illusions. The ending is 100% an illusion from QB that the show also never bothers to show as an illusion. Madoka sold her soul for nothing real and for no good reason, which QB will probably tell her some time after the ending credits of the final episode. That's still not good from a Christian perspective.

For a good magical girl series aimed at adults I recommend Nanoha (first two seasons/movies only). However there is nothing especially Christian about Nanoha except general themes like hope and redemption. Nanoha is a very idealistic show. Now that I think about it, Nanoha is pretty much the polar opposite of Madoka. Even the fight scenes in Nanoha are vastly superior.

Nanoha is really science fiction with sufficiently advanced technology, by the way, so there are no witchcraft themes that people may wish to avoid. So I suppose this post came out as surprisingly close to a Christian anime recommendation for Nanoha.

Real demons would look sophisticated and Christian-like to fool people, not your bat-wing'd, busty succubi or edge-lord cosplay-tier dudes that you see in anime and manga. See 2 Corinthians 11:13-15.

Reccing Spirited Away by the Rain Woman Youkai

It's very similar to that children's book, The Runaway Bunny about a mother rabbit steadfastly chasing after her wayward rabbit son. A lot of similarities between both mange and child's book and our identity as children of God. A lot of unintentional yet good metaphors that you can pick out . perfect example. While it still means that God will not flood the earth again, it still matters that the devil has taken it as a mockery of God. When you see a business displaying a rainbow flag, i doesn't use the biblical context, or the Norse one, these symbols are regional and this world is controlled by the devil.

>(engraved on popes throne, fyi)

The pope also does satanic hand signs as well as the hidden hand in photos.

>You are giving too much credit to bunch of teenage retards with daddy issues.

I fail to see why you say this. Evil is an entity, and we live in it's world kingdom, it's not because of the left and liberal strawmen that the rainbow is used for the homosexual movement. Maybe it sounds like i'm taking this too seriously, but symbolism does have power, and Satan's forces operate on it, when we're ignorant to it we end up signing along to satanic themes.

I disagree with you. The instruction is confined to a prohibition of crafting images for use in idolatry.

See here in the full context as stated in Deuteronomy:

¶‘You shall have no other gods fnbefore Me.

8¶‘You shall not make for yourself fnan idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above fnor on the earth beneath fnor in the water under the earth.

9‘You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,

As a proof, I submit the example of the ark of the covenant. God instructed that it be crafted with two images of cherubim (Exodus 25:22). Isn't this incompatible with your view?

Also, where do you draw the line?

Look: an image

This part refers to idolatry

>or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth

This is a more general statement which follows that prohibits the things in question.

<I submit the example of the ark of the covenant. God instructed that it be crafted with two images of cherubim

God Himself ordered the creation of the Ark.

<Have I broken the second commandment?

Yes. You made it “unto thee”, it is an imitation (a likeness) of God’s creation, even in a highly abstract sense.

Many anime idolators build shrines for these characters in their basements or bedrooms and fill them with plastic figurines of sexualized women. Perhaps not all engage in this idalatrous behavior, but a sizeable contingent does. If we look at the comments when pictures such as these are posted we see general support for this idolatry under the guise of humor.

Conjecture

Here's what you should say,

<"There is idolatry among anime viewers, and it is concerning"

Here's what you are saying (by implication)

<"If you watch anime, you are engaging in this idolatry as pictured"

>This is a more general statement which follows that prohibits the things in question.

It is not a discrete statement, it's contained in the instruction against idolatry. I've given you proof for my position based on God's action elsewhere in the Bible:

>God Himself ordered the creation of the Ark

Are you saying it violates His commandment? He just forgot about the second commandment in your view?

>Yes. You made it “unto thee”, it is an imitation (a likeness) of God’s creation, even in a highly abstract sense.

You are even beyond muslims in this heresy

Like the oxen or cherubim made for the tabernacle and ark of the covenant? God can break His own commandments?

>>8523

>God Himself ordered the creation of the Ark.

He also ordered the creation of something that was later worshiped (Numbers 21:6-9, 2 Kings 18:4). Does this make God an idolator? http://triablogue.blogspot.com/p/triablogue-master-index.html Read the articles under the "Art and the Bible" section, which are good arguments about the Second Commandment.

>>8523

>Many anime idolators build shrines

And idolators of all kinds do many things for their idols, but that says nothing about the medium of idolatry or object of worship. People idolize food, but food is good if received with thanksgiving. People idolize sex, but sex within marriage is to be pure and desired. People idolize the arts, but the first person to explicitly receive the Holy Spirit was an artisan (Ex. 31:3).

> it is an imitation (a likeness) of God’s creation

Go back to school and learn some Hebrew. Heck, learn some basic reading comprehension, because the context isn't about making mere images. It's the false worship of that which isn't God or worship God in ways He has not proscribed. In Ezekiel, God admonishes the elders of Israel to remove the idols of the heart (Ez. 13:3-4). Why does God accuse them of sin when they made no physical image? Is the mere use of our imagination idolatry then? God help us for using what He Himself gave!

>but a sizeable contingent does

GASP!

All human beings are idolators at heart and need God's grace to free them? Really? But what does that say about the medium of Japanese-made animation?

in 95% of portrayals of her, she has some hair on top of her head sticking up.

her clothing is usually more teal (the color your picked looks great though.)

she's missing her gold hairpin, but you'll probably add that later.

the neck/shoulder/head placement is kind of off, if you flip the image horizontally you'll immediately be able to tell what i'm talking about (it's good practice to do this several times as you're drawing, it sort of refreshes your brain.)

Yes, but they're not coming from masons either. If you said lots of anime has Shinto imagery in it I don't think anyone here would disagree. Masonry is not indigenous to Japan, and it shouldn't be your first assumption when interpreting symbolism in anime.

For thus the LORD spoke to me with mighty power and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

You are not to say, 'It is a conspiracy!' In regard to all that this people call a conspiracy, And you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it.

It is the LORD of hosts whom you should regard as holy. And He shall be your fear, And He shall be your dread." (Isa. 8:10-13 NASB)

True, we can narrow the list down to organizations that controlling the media.

>The floor isn't the same as the masonic black and white checkerboard pattern, which is extremely distinctive everywhere it's used, it's not meant to be subtle or hidden.

It doesn't need to be in black and white to be a checkerboard. Being subtle is the point, that's why it's shown as a symbol.

>>9222

>The heck are you on anon? That's not a location anywhere in that game

I never got that far int SMS, it's still odd that they would have it in the beta. Mario has had a history of posing in top of checkerboards regardless.

>So it didn't originate in Japan, but there are Freemasonry Lodges there.

And you cannot show any evidence that anyone involved in the creation of anime is a member of one. There are Japanese freemasons, but I've never heard of one of them being involved in the anime industry.

>True, we can narrow the list down to organizations that controlling the media.

"The media" is not a monolith. That freemasons occupy many influential positions in Hollywood is easy to show, but you've yet to show me that they occupy influential positions in the anime industry.

>It doesn't need to be in black and white to be a checkerboard. Being subtle is the point, that's why it's shown as a symbol.

Is any pattern at all of two alternating tiles (whether the difference between the two is orientation, color, pattern, whatever) masonic?

There is some masonic symbolism used in some anime, but what I've seen has not been done by actual masons. In this webm, for instance, it's shown as shorthand to indicate that the character being introduced here is an antagonist and show a bit about what kind of antagonists she and her allies are going to be (you can tell this by the fact that the show has many other concerts, none of which use this symbolism). However, when you tried to convince us anime was masonic propaganda, you couldn't even show us this, because you didn't know it existed–all you could show us is a classroom with identical wood tiles oriented at right angles to each other and a decorative sun.

The other problem is that there's not even an attempt to put things into context. Like, I see a lot of Mario images in there. Instead of just slapping them all into the same image with everything else, why not actually go through the games, figure out how all the symbolism is structured in just those games, and then present an explanation of that in one focused image? Do one thing at a time, instead of trying to analyze all media at once from screencaps you saw on the internet.

>it's still odd that they would have it in the beta

No, no it's not. The symbolism doesn't count if they don't intend to communicate these supposed masonic symbols to the general public; which, if they did indeed made it public, you still must prove to be mainly masonic in context rather than merely setting a tropical theme.

>from the same global system.

People don't take from the "global" first. They always take from the local first and any universal that's from their worldview. You need to prove that Masonry is a part of Japanese culture (good luck!that's impossible) or a part of the worldview of the Nintendo Japanese staff (it's not).

I'd add that the poster also needs to check the country of origin if he wants to state something about Japan and Masonry. From those that I can identify, Cuphead is an American indie game and Shantae is from Argentina. Cuphead also makes the symbolism very visible because the audience is supposed to notice and be amused, but a lot of those other screenshots are indistinguishable from generic non-symbolism.

It's uncommon to hear about satanists in big business, but their logos and architecture says otherwise.

>That freemasons occupy many influential positions in Hollywood is easy to show, but you've yet to show me that they occupy influential positions in the anime industry.

You're right, i haven't. My main point is both use the same symbolism.

>Is any pattern at all of two alternating tiles (whether the difference between the two is orientation, color, pattern, whatever) masonic?

No, clearly not every thing is influenced by freemasons or the elite.

>However, when you tried to convince us anime was masonic propaganda

All media is propaganda regardless if it's truthful or deceptive.

>you couldn't even show us this, because you didn't know it existed–all you could show us is a classroom with identical wood tiles oriented at right angles to each other and a decorative sun.

Both of us agree on the symbolism in anime, the problem with talking about this is most don't know the symbolism and/or just write it off as just a checkered floor, just a phoenix, just a phallic pillar, just a cube, just the planet Saturn (even though Saturn isn't particularly masonic, but it's all esoteric). You definitely have a point, but i don't know how to show something designed to be ignored. I can't even be helpful, when the context requires more pursuing of symbolic context. I want to show people the evil hidden in the world that i've found, but just look blind to them.

>>9279

I see what you're saying, my point with the picture was to show how much the patterns repeat. Context comes later when you know the checkered floor is a masonic lodge floor. I agree with you.

>>9301

>The animus is on you to do your research and not bear false witness to you neighbor.

I agree.

>You need to prove that Masonry is a part of Japanese culture (good luck!that's impossible) or a part of the worldview of the Nintendo Japanese staff (it's not).

Nintendo has used masonic symbolism for years, regardless who made it. It's like those employees who work at McDonald, and don't know the symbolism of the restaurant, it's possible that someone higher up put them there for some meaning, like the architecture of Israel's supreme court. I agree with you though, that i should have more concert evidence than just symbolism.

No, we don't. I may not have made this clear, but I think the masonic symbolism in that Symphogear G webm is being used in an anti-masonic context. If you're aware enough to recognize it, you're supposed to realize that it's sinister and attribute that to the characters in-universe (for further evidence, the primary villain that season was named John Wayne Vercingetorix, the real John Wayne was a mason.) Any time I've seen something that looks like masonic symbolism in anime, it's either been something like that or something that was copied without understanding its significance and so includes elements that don't make sense, or is missing elements that you would expect to be there.

Pretty dang well all things considered, but what makes you think the West right now is in any way identifiably Christian? I did say Japan desperately needs Christ, but so do we. The only difference between the West and Japan is that there are significant remnants of faithful Christianity in the West, while Christianity is a sickly bud in Japan.

Dumb argument.

Increasing western degeneracy is because of the rising abandonment of Christianity and replacement with alien spirituality and secular humanism

Which happened on your watch, when you controlled society. If you won't take responsibility for your failures you are not allowed to take credit for your successes or try to tell other cultures what to do.

>Do you think threatening people with violence is a good basis for a religion?

I do not know you personally. All I know is what you have posted so far, and what you have posted insinuates a great deal that you don't know Christ, otherwise you would have been sympathetic and not show hostility to the Christian religion. As your neighbor, even if we are anonymous and online, I am still obligated by the Word to warn you about Hell and the coming wrath of God towards sinners and to show you how to get saved from that: by turning from a life of sin and embracing Christ as your Lord and Savior. If I really wanted to do you harm, I wouldn't have said a word about the Gospel.

If you go to a online Bible and read, and I encourage you to do, Luke 13:5, you will see that I was merely quoting the Lord's formula and warning you that even if your enemies fall to disaster, you will too if you don't turn to Christ.

May the Lord save you!
