I'm not really a headphone expert, my expertise is more in audio engineering, music production, etc., I haven't used a particularly wide array of different headphones. I personally use a pair of Sennheiser HD-25 IIs though, they sound great, and they're pretty universal in professional audio and broadcasting. Whether they are comfy or not depends on the user, I like them but some people find that they press too tightly on the ears. That can be uncomfortable with hours of use, but it's also part of what makes them so well sealed against external noise, and stops sound from "leaking" out. I don't believe there is a better set of cans in the £110 - £140 price range.

I've started taking steps to reduce my fluoride intake. At the moment this is basically limited to not using fluoridated toothpaste because the water supply in my area doesn't have any. I've always done that, I am probably the most guilty here of eating the same thing every single day. I have porridge and a banana for breakfast, a peanut butter sandwich, a banana, and an apple for lunch, and then dinner is usually something frozen from Aldi, and it's been like this for a year or two. lads, do any of you have tactics for calming down when you have bouts of physical anxiety? When I say physical anxiety, I mean not directly freaking out about something but having a racing heart or sweating/lightheadedness because you're worried about something in the back of your mind. Sure. Sit still with your arms by your side, eyes closed if it helps, and just focus on your breath for at least 5 minutes. Make sure you're breathing with your diaphragm, which means your gut will be expanding and retracting, not your chest. Every time a thought besides your breathing comes to you, acknowledge the thoughts and allow them to pass, and return your focus to your breath. The objective is to continually return your focus to your breath, not to see how long you can focus on it without another thought coming up. That will come with practice.
Beyond immediate remedies, I would also suggest gradually giving yourself exposure to things that may currently make you anxious. It's kind of like when you play a horror game; at first it really puts you on edge, even just at the thought, but as you become more exposed to the situations/encounters, it stops having as much of an effect on you, until you become almost completely desensitised.

I've found the best way to counter this is to talk myself "up" or "down" depending on my mood. If I'm feeling depressed, I force an optimistic thought process on myself "it won't be that bad, you're actually quite good at x, you're likeable etc. etc.". On the contrary, if I'm feeling elated, wanting to take on too many different things at once, I actually talk myself down. I tell myself I'm only human, that I'm not a genius, or a superhero. I reckon most people would say that's overly negative, but if you find yourself often having unrealistic expectations of yourself it's a good method.

I think it's a combination of some nasty experiences as a kid and the obscene amount of horror films my brother used to make me sit through as a child lad. I can imagine the sort of dream you describe would suck if you were scared of spiders, I actually had a weird thing for them when I was younger, I couldn't go past a spider without picking it up and playing with it, especially if it was big. I'm actually a bit more squeamish about them now though, especially if they move too fast.

I've been hit pretty bad with depression this year, ever since about October when I was halfway through the whole work thing. Where my hopes and dreams for the future once lay, there is now only apathy and exhaustion.
In the last few months I've generally had a completely shit sleep pattern I just woke up, was supposed to post this earlier but fell asleep before I finished writing it, my diet has been a mess, I've left the house maybe 10 times since Christmas, and probably taken as many showers it's been a week since I last did. I've also felt incredibly weak, I often feel like I might keel over and die lately because something doesn't feel right, but at this point I feel like I wouldn't really mind if I did, it's just been a real shitshow.
I dunno, it's just been hard to remain positive and optimistic when everything has fallen apart and I feel too dead inside to start picking up the pieces for the hundredth time. How many times has it been that I've needed to fix my sleep pattern and implement a shower routine from scratch since 2015? It's like I'm continuously landing on the same snake in Snakes & Ladders, taking me back to the first row each time.
I just wanted to make some friends and start talking to girls like almost everyone else, but things are currently no different to how they were 3 years ago, despite my efforts over the last 2.5 years at turning it all around. Now I'm closer to 30 than 20, and it'll be years before I get my shit together, if ever. So I'll not only have missed the boat on having a life in my teens, but also in my twenties, even though I put so much energy and effort in to prevent that.
I don't want to completely give up yet, I know if I do then that's the end for me, but everyday I feel closer and closer to doing so. The scary part is that I'm not even sure if I care any more.

Went out weekend before last for a night out with my mates (first time I've been out with them since christmas), got utterly wankered and lost them in the train station at the end of the night.

Eventually my stop got announced and she asked me for my fb to keep in touch, but I don't use normiebook so she asked for my number which I gave her. Got off the train, got a taxi home and then she phoned me and asked me on a date for the following thursday, (I haven't been on a date since 2007) then on the tuesday night she text me to cancel the date because she hurt her leg at the gym, "Here we go" I thought to myself, but no she asked if I wanted to change it to next thursday (day after tomorrow) instead and apologised for having to cancel.
tl;dr first date in 10 years on thursday and i'm fucking clueless, can't wait to drink myself to sleep for the next month solid after my inevitably humiliating failure

I FUCKING HATE MY MUM
As a bit of back story I like to keep to my room in the house, I don't really go anywhere else but the kitchen and bathroom. My mum has always had issues with respecting shit like that, she opens my letters, packages, and used to barge in to my room any chance she got. So in the end I put a little lock on my door.
Well before I went to house sit I told her I had lost my key and to please in no uncertain terms not to go into my room while I was away, I came back a few days later and she'd cleaned my room.
I told her that I was annoyed and I get that she thinks that she is doing me a favour but she isn't and to stay out. When I came back yesterday I found out she'd redecorated the entire room. This was after I told her a few weeks ago that I was going to redecorate it soon myself.
We ended up getting in a big argument about it where she pretty much said she did it because she wanted to, then it pretty much digressed to the point where the argument was about my childhood and how I had it good.

Sure, no problem, happy to try and explain it, although it may be tricky if you don't know the basic principles of subtractive synthesis. That's a whole post of it's own at least.
Assuming you're talking about the bass synth, that particular synth sounds to me like it consists of two saw waves an octave apart, and a low pass filter (sets a cut off frequency and mutes frequencies above it, while allowing frequencies below it) with the resonance turned up fairly high (boosts the frequencies around the area of the low pass filter's cut off point, it makes a sort of whistling sound) and with keyboard tracking (the filter opens up as you go up the keyboard, closes as you go down). The filter is being modulated by a keyboard-triggered envelope gate (attack, decay, sustain, release - ADSR, activated whenever a note is pressed), with a short but not immediate attack (similar to making a "wa-" or "bwa-" sound with your mouth), and then a longish decay (similar to "-eeoow" with your mouth).
On top of this, there sounds like there's some sort of flanger effect, in fact the whole track sounds like it's drenched in flangers, particularly the drums. I think that's a strange decision personally, but I guess he was going for a more trippy/psychedelic sound. In the early - mid 80s it wasn't unusual to put effects like flangers and phasers on things like hi-hats and claps, to make drum machines sound a little more "alive", but I've never heard of anyone drowning the whole thing in flange, it just sounds odd.
Almost every synth has a different way of hooking up the filter / resonance, so unless you know the exact synth or VST they used it's hard to perfectly recreate the sound, and the same certainly goes for flangers and other effects, but I made a quick approximation (using the pic related) just to show I'm not completely talking out of my arse: https://my.mixtape.moe/qdsxzs.mp3
Regarding the song in general, it's clearly very YMO inspired (if you're not familiar with them, get familiar with them, pioneers of electronic dance music and synthpop, and were way ahead of their time in the late 70s / early 80s, second only perhaps to Kraftwerk in terms of influence on electronic music as a whole), and the creator has admitted so in his own comments section. It's inspired by the whole "early 80s, New York, electro-funk/boogie" sound in general, although that should without saying, as that sound borrowed heavily from YMO and Kraftwerk in the first place. I also don't know whether this was a conscious choice, a subconscious influence, or sheer coincidence, but I can hear a bit of "Carrie Lucas - Dance With You" (specifically the part at 1:52 - 2:10) in the chord progression, although most would probably recognise it as the main sample used in "Armand Van Helden - You Don't Know Me".

If you really want to play this game, then despite my various personal achievements, I'm still NEET, I still have no form of social life beyond anonymous posts over the internet, I'm still KHV, I'm still consistently fucking up my sleep pattern and going in and out of being nocturnal, I'm still struggling to shower more than once a week, I still leave the house about once or twice a month, and I still live with mum in a bedroom that would make any hoarder proud.

Did you really take that picture, look at it, and think "yeah, this is the one that really shows off what I bought today". You've got one tankoubon that's face down, upside down, and cut off, a second that is face down, and the third one is mostly just overexposed from the light reflecting off it, and whatever that gay looking box is, it's on it's side. But yeah regarding spice and wolf it's hard as all adaptations I hear differ to an extent, I saw the anime and I liked holo better as she kinda seemed less cynical, like I'm pretty sure holo tries to kill (((Lawrence))) in the manga but it quickly gets dropped, the ending of the anime is too nebulous I hear compared to the manga but so far I have not finished the manga, the light novel is purportedly best iteration.

If it makes you feel any better, I was the first to respond and congratulate him on his more optimistic update ( >>53268 ), unlike the one other anon who just called him a normie. Regarding your reason why you think I initially responded to one situation positively and the other negatively, I don't think your theory checks out. Firstly, they are two completely different situations, with the only similarity being "sudden appearance of a girl who is overly romantically interested considering the circumstances". Secondly, I can relate to neither of these anon's lifestyles, but I can certainly relate to the miserable pessimism and suicidal thoughts that train-anon was going through, far more than I can the optimism/working out/flirting/bantering of milf-anon in fact.
However, just because one is more relatable, doesn't mean I find it more respectable or desirable, which is probably half the reason why I got so annoyed by train-anon's first post. Add to it the fact that he, from my perspective, had seemingly obtained many of the things I've been working towards for a couple of years (mates, occasional nights out, a job, ability to take trains alone, random girl dropping from the sky and asking for a date, etc.), but seemed to completely disregard their significance or importance, and you have all the ingredients for a spur-of-the-moment "fuck you" post. As has been established more than a few times, according to various (((mental health professionals))), I allegedly have a natural inability to perceive and convey emotions and feelings in a way that neurotypicals would usually find appropriate or do themselves, so if I come off as a cunt then that's just how it is. I don't go out of my way to be a cunt, I always try to be rational and helpful whenever I can, but like anyone there are times when I'm irked, annoyed, or angered by certain things, and I tend to just say things the way I see them.
