I was performing very poorly. On my phone a lot, taking 5 smoke breaks a day, not attempting to learn the stuff I was meant to be supporting and making silly mistakes in the accounting software. I was bored out of my mind and completely unmotivated. Basically taking them for a ride I suppose, I had given up and that's why I'd been drafting my resignation letter this week. The job just wasn't worth it. Those weren't the reasons they gave but those are the reasons. I'm really surprised at my confidence in the meeting we had, I just told them my thoughts and they basically understand, thanked them for their patience etc. The guy who gave me the news was my main colleague, and he was a decent guy, so no bad blood or anything.

Before I leave I will let him know that they shouldn't advertise it as a technical role, because there are business people that would really like an entry level role like that.

It's quite a relief, I'm happier already knowing I'm not stuck in that dead end job. Greener pastures await.
