What are your thoughts on the idea I have of creating an online library from the collected resources? It would be similar to what /fringe/ has here:

I can highly recommend Lady of the Labyrinth (Maria Kvilhaug) on YouTube. Her video series on how to interpret the poems in the Edda really made me look at them in a new light.

She stresses the importance of translating the names, which would otherwise make no sense to a modern reader: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evE6aLg-_Q8&list=PL69DFD95FB096EAEC&index=1

"Nordens demring - Nordiske myter og sagn" Niels Chr. Brøgger is a great introduction to the Norse myths and sagas. The book is beautifully illustrated by Knut Yran (see the attached pictures for some samples)

"Norrøne gude- og heltesagn" by P. A. Munch (and the revised edition by Anne Holtsmark) is another great book on the subject - a very thorough and in-depth book that explains the names and meanings behind the myths.

I link Guðrún Kristín Magnúsdóttir's channel with a strong word of caution:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQj_jtWzylAQRYhCeOB-syA

She's an Icelander who is intimately familiar with the Heathen worldview, so there is knowledge to be gained.

HOWEVER, she is also a Transcendental Meditation enthusiast, and in many videos, is clearly trying to force fit the Heathen worldview into the Trancendental Meditation worldview. Plus her accent can be a bit on the thick side.

Be prepared to shift through some dirt before you get to the gold.

Grumpy Lokean Guides - Edda Translations
http://grumpylokeanelder.tumblr.com/post/60472960801/grumpy-lokean-guides-edda-translations
I see people asking quite often which Edda translations are the best. To that end, I’ve compiled my reviews on various translations.

The best translation:

Dronke, Ursula. The Poetic Edda. (3 vol.) - Do whatever you can to get your hands on these. They were limited runs and are obscenely expensive, so you’ll probably have to do what I did and read them via interlibrary loan through a university. The Old Norse is presented alongside an extremely accurate English translation with extensive footnotes and translations notes. Commentary is included that provides valuable historical and cultural context, explains difficult terms, discusses religious and social pressures that may have influenced the texts… just amazing. Mrs. Dronke unfortunately passed away before the fourth volume was complete, but I’m still crossing my fingers that it will be released. A read through Dronke’s translations and essays will do wonders for your comprehension of the Poetic Edda.

The Pagan and Christian Schism In The White Folk Cause
http://susan1219.wordpress.com/2014/11/11/the-article-they-claim-the-bop-put-gary-yarbrough-in-adx-for/
Give this article a read….is there anything violent or terrorizing in this article? No, it just talks about the roots of Christianity and how religion should not be a division….so how does this article warrant a move to the highest security prison in America?

http://news4whites.blogspot.com/2014/11/is-this-sign-of-what-is-to-come-with.html
Gary Yarbrough went to prison in 1984. He was the first member of the former Order to be arrested. He has been in prison for 30 years. This is more time than most hardcore murders or bank robbers do. In 2010, Gary had a release date of November 24, 2014, and they tried to vacate this date because of "association."

>9.03A-No racism or intolerance is allowed. No kindreds, individuals, or groups of people that support racist ideas are going to be allowed to remain members of TAC once TAC has become aware. TAC is fully against racism and intolerance. No exceptions! It is the duty of members to report anything suspicious to The Council.

>The Council

It's almost like they are creating an anti-white "asatru" government to rule over these newly formed Asatru communities. They want to centralize control of Asatru and promote universalism just like you'd find in Christianity.

Theses morons will fail because the breakdown of western culture that is occuring and the decreasing European populations in their own homelands will lead to resentment of universalist ideals.

I dont know if there is interest but I could translate a bunch of short fairytales and folkstorys from upper to lower germany about the wild hunt and its white horse riding, hat wearing and in the north called on as "wod"(wodan ofc).

Its mostly from a 19th century peasant perspective so with a lot of wacky elements and quiet mundane problems at the core but in them are some some vague attributes and conducts about the central european version of Odin which arent in the Edda-nothing scandinavic, epic or vikinglike tho as I said.

I think he's just aiming to remain as factual/analytical as possible in his content. He's stated he personally likes some of Jung's ideas but refuses to accept that god archetypes are merely psychological phenomena, but rather truly transcendent powers, so regardless of how he presents information in his vids I don't think it's fair to say that he personally has a non-religious/atheistic view of things.

Here are a few interesting links for some websites dealing with the runes and such.

Not sure how credible these sites are, but they seem alright. If anyone wants to double check them, that would be nice.

http://sunnyway.com/runes/meanings.html

This gives the meanings of most of the runes, if someone could fact-check it and see if it's good, that would be wonderful.

http://www.runes.info/links.php

A large wealth of information about the runes published by some old guy who has also wrote some books. His information seems pretty good, and he has a couple articles that talk about writing with the runes. There's also a link to an old forum that has commenting turned off, so check that out (not sure how credible the entire site is, though).

Runic unicode in case anybody wants it.

A pretty nice Asatru site I found, not sure how credible it is however.

I can highly recommend the first site. I cast runes as soon as I get out of bed and that site helped me a lot.

It's strange, I recently got back to Asatru and the rune casting to me is the real highlight of it. It feels like Wodan is speaking directly to me, shining upon me with pieces of his wisdom. This is an experience I've never felt in any other religion. I can highly recommend it

This book is a pretty good intro into the stories that Asatru is based on. It's a little slick here and there, but mostly accurate. It also reads much better than the Eddas themselves, which can be quite a handful sometimes

Gaiman is actually a jew. His parents were jewish scientologists. The best combo.

Hello, I'm looking for sources on what could be the most specific variation of cult for northern Spain/France cultures, Visigoths and such.

I've struggled to find decent material on goths in general but I'd wager the Romans did a good job deleting their sackers from History.

You want Celtiberians. Visigoths had about as much impact as the moors (none)

Introduction should be made by Grimm's stories, end of story. The Aesir choose him through struggle and under penalty of death and he earned the right to tell. What has Gayman done to earn such a right from the Aesir?

Have not heard of them, until now. Is it said like Odin-ia like a place or, as Odi-nia like a girl's name?

A strange quote, I wonder if Redbad meant Helheim because in Redbad's day the Christians hadn't even adopted the words "God" or "Hell" and instead only used "Deus" and "Inferno".

Hravan is an online library dedicated to Germanic paganism.

On Hravan you will find a variety of books that all have one thing in common: Germanic paganism is the central topic.

Been looking at the Konungsbok particular its second page which is about half way through the Volsupa.

In the upper left corner some of the text has dissolved and I know there must be higher res scans somewhere but haven't found them yet.

Does anyone know where better scans are?

Particularly they be in color.
