Well it really wasn'0t. It's a body of myth. Contradictory plotlines are not entirely that big of a deal as long as the essence of the world is maintained, which for the most part, Shadow of Mordor did. It failed a bit at the end, but it was for example nowhere near as bad as the Hobbit movies.
I'd put it about just bellow the Lord of the Ring movies.

>celebrimbor making ANOTHER ring
Yep, I'm sure that won't fuck up like the last three times. I can forgive playing fast and loose with the setting and I can even forgive some stupid shit like the elf ghost, but this monumental retardation is like the devs didn't even read Lord of the Rings.
Sauron is the Lord of the Rings. You can't beat Sauron with a "good" ring, that's not how it works.

Celebrimbor was killed by Sauron shortly after making the final Three rings. (Sauron's ring thus had to be very powerful to enslave them)
His body was then used as a banner or standard for the rest of that particular war.
So how did he manage to make another ring?

>After that shitstain of a game I'm more surprised that Sauron doesn't pull out a lightsaber to engage super saiyan blue tranny black sailor moon atop of Mount Doom.
You and I will live to see this. It will happen when the Tolkien estate is forced to sell all its assets and Middle-Earth™ becomes the intellectual property of some hook-nosed Hollywood exec. There is a very real and not-entirely-conscious agenda among major media to weaken and defile anything heroic or inspirational, or anything that approaches the idea of racial pride. It's an issue with the culture of the global market, and not something that you can kill just by targeting the right fatcats.
Just like in the Legendarium, evil can't be overcome just by killing it.

That isn't right either. Because it doesn't matter how hard they try, how far they reach. There is light and high beauty forever BEYOND that reach. And even were that not the case, even if defeat and loss were certain, you have to fight. The long defeat is heroic in of itself.

No, "decent" orcs is plausible. Tolkien didn't like the idea that creatures could be damned before chance of redemption and published versions of the Battle of Last Alliance claim all creation save Elves was divided, i.e some Orcs opposed Sauron.

I don't know what you're talking about.
None of those orcs are "good." they are on Celebrimbor's side. or with talion/donut steel if you prefer to split hairs The game operates under the assumption that the One Ring, or something like it, grants the ability to mind-control orcs Aquaman-style.
In my opinion, those characters are acting like orcs just fine. JRRT based them off of british factory workers in the 20s-40s and on the attitudes of WWI soldiers like the ones he was lumped together with. I see enough of that in the game to be fine with it.
The "progressive Gondorian cultural attitudes for women and minorities" thing is the most venomous thing in this game by a long shot.

Orcs were also based on how the enemy is viewed by those in the trenches. Which is why they are so chaotic evil in the books, and probably why Tolkien when he really thought about it, regretted writing them the way he did.
And yes, the SJW modernist shit is going to ruin this game.

>stole
Get over this idiotic idea that every author has a monopoly on the things they write. Everyone is picking up concepts and approaches to things like this all the time, and drawing inspiration from everywhere else.
Before (((publishers))) realized they could make money off of fiction writing, everyone exchanged stories and ideas freely and without this shitty DeviantArt attitude about "muh worldbuilding".

I was looking more for a source to the claim, rather than a lecture about intellectual property. "Stole" is a pretty accurate way of describing GW's creative process in many ways, at least at the beginning.

Isn't this exactly what happened in the story?
The one thing keeping me interested is how a major game company can spin a story like this when the conclusion is utterly forgone. Those two cannot defeat Sauron, anymore than Jin Urso could square off with Darth Vader in Rogue One.
…I think I just answered my own question…

It's like they don't even give a shit about the actual world Tolkien made. Give me a game where I'm one of the fucking blue wizards, let me sail down the Anduin, let me venture into the far east where the devs can legit include the niggers that they want without fucking up lore.

So, in case anyone is curious
>Turns out most of the game is spent fighting Isilur, who got turned Nazgul, because why the fuck not
>Celebrimbor tried to dominate Isildur into his service but Talion refuses and instead mercy kills him
>Celebrimbor betrays Talion and instead possesses the OC elf bitch
>Shelob keeps Talion alive long enough for him to put on Isildur's ring to become a ringwraith (which isn't how that works but really, at this point, who the fuck cares)
>In the final battle Sauron and Celebrimbor fuse and become the eye of Barad-dur
>Talion retakes Minas Morgul, spends decades holding back the forces of Mordor, until he gets corrupted and joins the Dark Lord (who at this point, you have to ask, who even is the dark lord)
>Lord of the Rings happens
>Talion gets freed and moves on beyond the circles of the world (which, again, fucking faggots in these mainstream titles seem to him equals moving on to Valinor)

Makes me wonder how strict those Tolkien Estate "no use of unlicensed material" rules actually are. The old tabletop games had their share of bizarre bullshit, but this game doesn't appear to be fashioned by coherent minds. It seems like their legal team went insane and listed everything that they were allowed to do (the more lore breaking the better) and then the dev team just randomly rolled story elements from the list.

When his legacy is shit itself and can no longer be exploited for profit.
Alternatively, until respect for these tales is restored, or when the entire civilization that bore them comes crashing down.

But they seem to present it as if he's walking into Valinor itself. I dunno it seems to base the description of "heaven" as the one Gandalf made in the movies, which was itself almost like a white lie to Pippin about what happens after you die. He was describing Valinor, but Pippin wont go there.
The films and these games and normalfags in general confuse Valinor with heaven a lot.

Remember: Arda and the Legendarium are meant to be mythological landscapes. I don’t think there’s any reason to complain about Talion’s sendoff, since, from our perspective, Valinor is as good as Heaven.
And personally, I didn’t think of it as him going to Valinor. All I saw was a numenorean descendant looking upon the sea at sunset.

That isn't entirely a bad interpretation either I guess. I mean I'm not that mad about that. Of all things in the game it wasn't the worst.
Also there's an important distinction between Valinor and the world beyond Eä. Because we KNOW for a fact Valinor exists within the Legendarium, and it is simply the realm of the gods, hallowed but finite. It's an understandable and you can quantify/qualify it.
You do not know what happens after Men die. The unknown is part of it. It's hope without any guaranty. A call to faith without any promises. Which is something very integral to every ideal Tolkien puts into his works.
