>The love story follows Hinako, a college student who moves to a coastal town. She loves surfing, and when she's on the waves she's fearless, but on land she has trouble riding the waves of life. When a fire wreaks havoc in the town, Hinako encounters firefighter named Minato. Minato can handle almost any task on land, but is a beginner at surfing. As they surf and spend more time together, Hinako feels drawn to someone like Minato who devotes himself to helping other people, and the two start a relationship. However, Minato loses his life in an accident at sea. Despondent, Hinako sings a song about their memories together, and Minato appears again from the water.

'Beyond Creation' Anime Short Created With Live2D

The animation was made largely through the company's own Live2D software, and was produced and planned by the company's Live2D Creative Studio design team. 'We Never Learn' Anime Premieres on April 6
>The official website for the television anime of Taishi Tsutsui's We Never Learn (Boku-tachi wa Benkyō ga Dekinai) manga revealed on Monday that the series will debut on April 6. The show will air on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, BS11, and AT-X on April 6 at 24:30 (effectively April 7 at 12:30 a.m.), before airing later that night on MBS and on April 9 on TV Aichi.
>Yoshiaki Iwasaki (Love Hina, Hayate the Combat Butler, Last Period: the journey to the end of the despair) is directing the anime at Studio Silver and Arvo Animation. Go Zappa (A Bridge to the Starry Skies, Beatless, Myself; Yourself) is in charge of series composition. Masakatsu Sasaki (Saki, Seiyu's Life!, A-Channel) is designing the characters. Additionally, Satoshi Motoyama (WorldEnd, Oreimo) is the sound director at Magic Capsule, and Masato Nakayama (You and Me., My Little Monster) is composing the music.
>The manga's story centers on Yuiga, a student who is aiming for a scholarship because he comes from a poor family. His school gives him a condition: he can have a recommendation for a scholarship if he tutors his two beautiful classmates to help them get into the schools of their choice. Japan Box Office: Self-Deprecating Local Comedy Tonde Saitama Beats Long-Awaited Alita
City Hunter and Code Geass still stay in the top 10

The film ranked No.1 in Pia's first day satisfaction ranking with a 93.5% approval rating.
>The prefecture that attracted the most audience in Japan was, of course, Saitama, which put the film on 23 screens. The film's three-day gross was 330,949,400 yen with 247,968 admissions, and it is expected to earn around 1.5 billion yen by the end of its run in Japan.

Kimetsu no Yaiba Anime Sets TV Premiere Date for April 6

>Frontwing began streaming the first five minutes of the anime adaptation of its Grisaia: Phantom Trigger game on Friday.
>The anime opened on March 15 at Tokyo's EJ Anime Theater Shinjuku and at four other theaters in Japan. The screenings will be 90 minutes in length.

Mob Psycho 100 Gets All-New OVA Planned by ONE

>The official website for the anime adaptations of ONE's Mob Psycho 100 manga announced on Monday that the franchise is getting a completely new original video anime (OVA). ONE is providing the original concept for the anime. (Note: The announcement confirmed that the OVA announcement is not an April Fool's Day joke.)
>Yuzuru Tachikawa is returning to direct the anime at Bones.
>The OVA will get an advance screening at "Mob Psycho 100 II Psycho Helmet-kyō no Tsudoi Special Event Natsu" (tentative title) on July 7. The Mob Psycho 100 II anime's first and second home video volumes, which ship on April 3 and 24, respectively, will bundle forms to enter advance tickets lotteries for the event. Mob Psycho 100 II cast members such as Setsuo Ito, Takahiro Sakurai, and Takanori Hoshino, as well as theme song performers sajou no hana will appear at the event.

Classic Megazone 23 Anime OVA Revealed as AnimEigo's Next Project
>Company's Gunsmith Cats Kickstarter updates on progress
>AnimEigo previously ran a Kickstarter campaign to fund an Explosive Edition HD release for the Gunsmith Cats OVA, which went on to soar past its $75,000 goal to the tune of $350,879. The company came through with a progress report update this week, and with all the final approvals in they're just waiting on some manga pages from original creator Kenichi Sonoda. Beyond that and the updated mid- to late-June shipping plans, the best bit came at the very bottom of the announcement.

Violet Evergarden Gets Side Story Anime in September Before January 10 Film

Kyoto Animation announced on Friday that Violet Evergarden the Movie, its film project for the Violet Evergarden anime, will open in Japan on January 10. The studio also revealed a new key visual and teaser trailer for the film.
>The above video also reveals that a new Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jidō Shuki Ningyō (Violet Evergarden Side-Story: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll) anime that tells "another story" will screen in theaters in Japan from September 6-19. Blade of the Immortal Gets Official Sequel Manga in May
>Kenji Takigawa, Ryū Suenobu pen Bakumatsu-era story; "important announcement" teased
>The June issue of Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine revealed on Thursday that Hiroaki Samura's Blade of the Immortal manga is receiving an official sequel manga titled Mugen no Jūnin - Bakumatsu no Shō (Blade of the Immortal - Bakumatsu Arc). Kenji Takigawa is writing the story, and Ryū Suenobu is drawing the art, with Samura credited for collaboration. The current issue also shows a preview of the manga. It will launch in the magazine's next issue in May 25.

20 years may have passed since the premiere of the seminal Serial Experiments Lain, but fans haven’t stopped loving Lain – not one bit, especially as the series only gets more and more relevant in today’s world. Faced with such fan support, NBC Universal has taken the unprecedented decision to hand over their intellectual property almost entirely to fans – making Social Experiments Lain, as they describe it, ‘open source’ under the moniker Time To Live.
Such a decision comes, more concretely, from the massive success of various events held to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary, such as the Club Cyberia fan event as well as the CHAOS MARKET pop-up.

>The August issue of Kadokawa's Comptiq magazine revealed on Wednesday that Kadokawa is producing a new original anime titled Maesetsu! The project involves scriptwriter Shōta Gotō as a main staff member, and the members of the Freak! otaku-based comedy duo as cast members. Lucky Star manga author Kagami Yoshimizu is drawing a four-panel manga for the project, and also drew the below visual for the project.

I probably would have never ended up watching anime if the only way to do so would have been through legal methods and I'm sure that goes for a lot of people. If you can consume media for free, then you don't mind as much wasting your time on watching a few episodes/reading a few volumes to figure out if you'll like the whole thing or not. But when you have to pay to do so, it just wouldn't seem worth it to most people.

That is true. In a world without piracy, people will simply buy whatever is popular/mainstream because those are the only products they have heard other people's opinions on and is sometimes the only option available. There's no way you're going to spend the extra cash on a somewhat obscure IP if you can't know beforehand if it's good or not. Those anime magazines aren't exactly good resources either because they only talk about the newest series and are often in cahoots with western licensors to only promote whatever they expect to get the most sales.
So you could say that really big companies who produce media that no one with common sense would want to spend money on if they had alternatives, like the ones in Hollywood, do get hurt by piracy. But that's only because people are allowed to have a choice thanks to piracy whereas in a world without it, you only get to have one flavor so to speak.
