Recipes converted into ratios/bakers percentages. These weight ratios are just general approximations that I've gleaned from various recipe sources.
>basics of the basics
Konbu Dashi
>100% water
>3% konbu
Soak the konbu in the water for 8 hours or so, or overnight.
(Save the used konbu for secondary dashi)
Primary Dashi (using konbu dashi)
>100% konbu dashi
>3% shaved katsuobushi
Heat konbu dashi
When a bit below boiling point, add in the shaved katsuobushi
Bring to boil then immediately turn off heat
Allow the flakes to settle to the bottom (a few minutes minute) while occasionally skimming off surface foam
Filter though a cheesecloth/paper towel/coffee filter lined sieve
(Save the used katsuobushi for secondary dashi)
Primary Dashi (from scratch)
>100% water
>3% konbu
>3% shaved katsuobushi
Fill pot with water and put in konbu and heat over medium heat
Remove konbu just before water boils
Turn off heat and let cool for a bit
Add the shaved katsuobushi and reheat over medium heat, occasionally skimming off surface foam
Bring to boil then immediately turn off heat
Allow flakes to settle to the bottom
Filter though a cheesecloth/paper towel/coffee filter lined sieve
(Save the used konbu and katsuobushi for secondary dashi)
Secondary Dashi
>100% water
>2% used konbu (from konbu/primary dashi)
>2% used katsuobushi (from primary dashi)
>1% new shaved katsuobushi
Place used konbu and used katsuobushi in pot with water over high heat
Right when it reaches boiling point, reduce the heat to a gentle simmer the stock until it's reduced 1/3 - 1/2 (depending on flavor desired, takes around 10-20 minutes)
Add the fresh katsuobushi and immediately remove from heat
Allow the flakes to settle to the bottom (a few minutes minute) while occasionally skimming off surface foam
Filter though a cheesecloth/paper towel/coffee filter lined sieve

Ramen Recipe
Find a ramen pack in your grocery stores that is below a dollar a pack but more than 25cents. Boil water in stove or microwave, add the ramen brick, put in flavor pack, add hotsauce to taste and or a fried egg. Fry the egg separately, adding raw egg into the ramen will not make egg drop noodle soup, it can make the noodles soggy and the egg disgusting.
Advanced Ramen Recipe
Find a chink grocery store, buy non instant but dried ramen, add your own broth season to taste.
Sushi
Go after 6 or 7pm to a chink grocery store that has a sushi counter, buy at discounted price.
Advanced Sushi Recipe
Obtain a sushi roller, it looks like a bundle of bamboo rods weaved together. Make sushi rice in the traditional proper way. Or do the more practical thing and cook it in a rice cooker. If you can't get sushi rice just use shortgrain rice with a bit more water than usual and add rice vinegar. Put your choice of topping filler, grilled spam, egg, avocado, cream cheese, whatever you want. Roll it and put it your mouth and enjoy.
Japanese Ice Cream
Get ice cream, put pocky in it.
Japanese Beverage
Put Sapporo beeru in a sake cup.

/ck/ related mangos I can recommend:
Isekai Shokudou: one of many in this isekai subgenre, but imho the best because of the characters. the animu is nice and cozy too.
Wakako Zake: weirdly (but not unpleasantly so) drawn OL with a deep knowledge for alcohol visits little restaurants and bars to eat "snacks"
Orenchi ni Kita Onna Kishi to: Inakagurashi suru Koto ni Natta Ken: Reverse isekai about a princess knight staying at a japanese farm and learning about cooking
Mado kara Madoka-chan: not a food-manga in the strictest sense but it gets plenty of food chapters. Madoka turns her window into all sorts of stores to entertain a passing salaryman. Restaurants are a common theme here.
Kumika no Mikaku, as mentioned by a previous poster. The ayyy lmaos are just too cute when they enjoy their meals

Kodoku no Gourmet: oldfag business man visits restaurants.

Golden Kamuy: It's a cooking manga that also features a treasure hunt. Read the manga as the anime leaves out a lot of good parts.

Another great /ck/ manga I absolutely adored:
Bambino!
About a guy working at a famous italian restaurant in Japan. Thinks he's great because he worked at a small italian restaurant before, but soon learns how hard work in a kitchen can actually be.
Really good, but the sequel Bambino! Secondo jumps the shark very very fast and gets really unpleasant.

Gokudou Meshi
psy/ck/ological warfare in jail.
Prison food sucks. But once a year, the prisoners get some decent grub. To get the most out of it, they play a game amongst themselves. They each take turns and describe the most delicious meal they ever had in their lives and if they get the others to want that meal too, they win the chance to take one item from the new years lunchbox of their cellmates.
And so they begin to tell their tales. Be it some food they had while on the run from the law or the "last meal" the yakuza offered them before shipping them off to slavery.

Now she has to find a way to cook herself for the incredibly picky monster or the village will be doomed.

Your quip in no way invalidates my argument; especially since the most impactful family memories were achieved when clans maintained a long-held tradition of sharing, and swapping food recipes with oneanother. Your purpose is to supply this thread with splendid 2-D material that catches those glimpses of wondrous recipes coming together. The most spammed example is that terrible beef stroganoff clip where the prepwork, and cooking methods were worse than those on Western comics.

Roux is really simple, and is better adjusted to feeling. Just start with a teaspoon or two of butter, melt is and let it stand on low. Slowly start adding flour, scraping the corners and the bottom of you pan well. When you have a clay-like consistency, you are in the right range; you can add as much as needed, but I usually add flour until it starts crumbling together. Thanks mom!

Amaama to Inazuma
Manga about a widowed husband raising his 5 year old daughter. His JK student teaches him and his daughter to cook various recipes which they then enjoy together at the end of every chapter. Every chapter has at least one recipe, my biggest gripe with the manga is that it later on becomes kind of like a recipe book, the recipe and the instructions take up a rather lenghty part of the later chapters which in turn gives us less pages about the plot.

another /ck/ manga I had almost forgotten about (since translations stopped a long time ago):
Kuitan (also Kui-Tan or The Case Files of the Gourmand Detective).
As the alternative title suggest, it's about a detective who solves crimes through the power of his gluttony and his vast knowledge of food.
The cases are a bit far-fetched to shoehorn the food aspect into them, but it's a fun read.

I think both are good. As long as the food is tasty and fills you up without being complete garbage, it is good food.
Also, learn to make pizza yourself rather than ordering out.
Pepsi is shit though. If you're not having beer with your pizza, at least have cheerwine or even coke.

Natto (なっと)
This is a fermented soybean product. The beans are stinky and slimy. Most westerners hate it. I'm one of the weird ones that loves it. It's one of the few soy foods I'll eat. It's very healthy. It's probiotic, loaded with vitamin k2 (the only source for you vegancucks), and also contains a fibrinolytic enzyme that helps prevent heart attacks and stroke. To prepare it, you open the package, apply the provided condiments, usually mustard and tare sauce, then stir the shit out of it to really develop that spiderweb-like slime. Then put on some rice and eat.
I also really like Tazukuri (田作り)
It's little fried anchovies/baby sardines called niboshi. You can buy them dry. They are also used for making dashi. You put them in a hot skillet and let them dry out and get crispy. In another pan, cook mirin, water, sugar, and soy sauce until it cooks down and gets slightly syrupy. Then add the sauce to the little fishies and stir to coat them well. I usually cook it a little longer, but once they're coated you can go to the next step. Spread on a plate to cool. They are sweet and salty and crunchy and fishy and go well with booze. There are similar dishes throughout pretty much all of coastal Asia. Pretty much any Asian market will have some of type little crispy anchovies of this prepackaged for you to try. I particularly like the spicy variations.

Sashimi
Soba
and that's it

The local sushi place I go to infrequently has ramen. Only three types but it's traditional. I only go there infrequently because they're really pricey. Three people would run at least $120. You get what you pay for though.

Worth the price enough to go occasionally. They have a "dynamite sauce" which I probably would make sushi at home everyday if I knew how to make it. It's really bad for you I imagine but it's some combination of a little chili sauce, I think homemade mayo, I think rice wine, vinegar, definitely fresh fish roe, and some kind of oil or fat. My favorite dish is that sauce drenching shredded crab topping perfectly cooked scallops. It's $14 bucks for five scallops but I could eat that everyday and die of a heart attack at 50.

I just made this and it's great.
For anyone wanting a bit more of a recipe:
Peel onions and stand up into the baking vessel you're going to use. The vessel should be about onion-height, and fill it up until no more onion can stand in it.
Cut onions into eight pieces, add about one clove of garlic per two onions.
Fry the two on low-medium heat, in plenty of butter, until the onions are medium-brown and you feel no resistance when squishing them with your mouth, stirring every couple of minutes. Put onions/garlic into baking vessel.
Take consomme (or chicken/beeth stock) set a small amount aside and pour the rest into the baking vessel until the onions are juuuuust covered. Add a tablespoon of miso per cup of soup used into the set-aside soup and dissolve. I used Mugi Miso, if you want to use Shiro miso, it's probably better to keep the onion a shade lighter.
Pour miso-mix into baking vessel, stir.
Spread miso quite thinly on one side of baguette slices and cover the onion mix with them. Cover thickly with cheese (Gouda's good), put into oven at 200+ degrees Celsius until the cheese is nicely browned (took more like half an hour for me), then serve with a green salad and some nice Marsala (my mugi miso is nicely fruity and Marsala complements the cheese well too).

Oven-fried Rice Napolitan
Ingredients:
>2 bell pepper, thinly sliced
>1 large onion, thinly sliced
>250g sausage, sliced relatively thinly
>Salt, pepper
>2 tablespoons butter
>2 cups rice
>3 cups beef stock, boiling hot
>A couple tablespoons of oil
>Tabasco
>Acidic ketchup (like Heinz)
Instructions:
>Preheat oven to 200C
>Throw everything up to and including the rice into a casserole
>Add the boiling hot(!) stock
>Cover (if there's no lid, use foil)
>Put in oven for 40-45 minutes
>Take out, let it rest for 10 minutes, preheat oven to 250C
>Only now remove the lid, add oil, stir thoroughly
>Put in oven again for 10 minutes, without lid
>Take out, add Tabasco and ketchup to taste, stirring well to spread it around (I recommend a rice that just about goes into the red instead of the lighter pink)
Easy, cheap, delicious, and filling. Perfect student meal.
