Yes, Trigger is about to save anime with no survivors, once again!
>In the 21st century, the existence of animal-humans came to light after being hidden in the darkness of history. Michiru lived life as a normal human, until one day she suddenly turns into a tanuki-human. She runs away and takes refuge in a special city area called "Anima City" that was set up 10 years ago for animal-humans to be able to live as themselves. There Michiru meets Shirou, a wolf-human who hates humans...
Stopping the furfag kemono menace or sniffing every nook and cranny of a sweaty, raccoon tomboy? That is the very question every man of integrity must pose to himself.
Let's find out by experiencing this fresh new trainwreck together.

Sunrise is a staple of the anime industry. Trigger is not. They very much are unashamed westaboos that love to reference western properties & many american branches of media like Transformers. Yes it started in Japan with toys but Transformers media only blew up in America after Hasbro made a show with characters. All of their cartoony moments are also very heavily referential to rubber hose cartoons in the vein of classic black & white Disney. They're westaboos through & through looking to recreate western influences in their media.

I felt this too, the MC was kind of deplorable in the first few episodes but she grew on me later. Still, I think this is Trigger's weakest anime original so far. Like you say, the moral messages aren't super clear or agreeable anyway.

Darling in the Franxx was Trigger's weakest BNA might have LWA's magic near the end but I'm doubtful but this show still feels more energetic then Franxx.

Franxx was an actual pre-announced mess from the start, it had something like 4-5 different people writing and directing it without ZERO coordination, as we have clearly seen, every episode felt detached from each other, somehow. And let's not talk about the fact that they had to make things up on the go after episode 15, and it fucking shows too. At least good /clang/ was made out of it and Eo To was a CUTE. Still mad.
Putting that aside, I'm actually surprised this thread isn't 95% Trigger bashing, considering the paradoxically small scope of the target audience. We already get the traditional anti-Triggerfags, but this time they wanted to go further and piss of anti-furfags AND last but not least, they got the hate of puritan furfags by adding humans and human forms, thus it ends up being a product only casual kemonofags can enjoy. Also, more than an American-like production, this seriously looks like something the french studio Ankama would make.

Finally got around to watching the 6 episodes. Was pretty meh overall. I could tell they didn't have the Darling in the Franxxx and Kill la Kill money and had the B or C team work on this. Soundtrack sounded pretty cheap and idea feels slapdash from the start. There was amazing animation for Michiru's transformation but then you've got that cheap looking black and white scene that Shirou uses to smell his target. I think Michiru the tanuki girl is great main character but the other characters have no-presence to the overall story or plot in a meaniful way right now.
Episodes are mostly episodic with a loose arc of trying to cure Michiru of her beastmen disease, but they do end up feeling rushed or ending on a weird point that it makes the resolution seem abrupt or stupid. Example: Michiru teaching orphan's how to read or write but they turn out to be slaves to be sold. She helps them out of being sold but they end up being taken by the police for adoption I think and we never see any of them again after that. How about the baseball episode where Shirou inspects baseball gambling and drops it after Michiru got involved to make the beastmen love baseball for the sport of it. Do they stop doing killings or game rigging for baseball now or what?
Compared to other trigger anime, this one didn't engage me much. I do like the character Michiru but that is about it. It needed some stories or details to carry over past their episode and needs more foreshadowing in some spots. There is too much teasing for when the real major story stuff starts. You'd think they'd make more of a big deal out of Ginrou the mythical god but they only briefly talked about in the 1st or 2nd episode and only got into depth about it in the 6th episode when the story required it for the cults appearance. Hoping it'll get better by the end but this reminds of Little Witch Academia the series and we know how that one ended.

Michiru finds out her BFF is still alive and it looks like she's being used by a cult to gain influence over the Beastmen population
Turns out she's the mastermind behind the whole thing and manipulates Michiru into bringing her to the city mayor. When confronted about this later, she coldly brags about how she would've found a way to see the mayor with or without her help. Then makes a point about how Michiru assumed she was a helpless girl, as if she was too stupid to know whether she was being used. But this is exactly what happens to Michiru.
There are several foreshadowing moments that lead up to this, such as how Nazuna was expecting Michiru to sneak into her tent. Showing no surprise whatsoever, it's played off as a light-hearted wink-nudge-nudge.
I'd like to know where this myth of TRIGGER not being able to tell a good story comes from.
I'm sure you have your grievances with pacing and world building but even you have to admit, that build up between Michiru and Nazuna was spot on. It is strongly suggested multiple times that Nazuna was in dire need of help, but this was a trick on the studio's behalf and we fell for it.

The hardline that kemonomimi is to be considered furry even when everyone admits it's not, simply because it ATTRACTS the wrong crowd of actual furries, replaces an issue with another.

/animu/ 2.0 stinks of newfags trying too hard to fit in. The board's saving grace was to host newfags too unruly for /a/: now it's just a dead /a/ populated by redditors.

After thinking about it for a while, I think know what has been bothering me with the MC's personality now, besides when sports are involved there isn't much else going on for her besides being a viewpoint character and "being nice".
The bit with her friend was a step in the right direction, but this thing is literally half-way through the series, it's too little too late and it lacks the scale, playfulness or characters charm of Trigger's other works to make up for it being so lacking of it's own identity.
>>954327
The episode with her was actually the second best one, it set up things well, but it looks like something that should be out by the first fourth, not the halfway point.
It came late many mediocre episodes there were after the first one and after much dicking around before getting there, likely having the series to rush itself for the rest of it.
>>954910
Idiots trying to fit in have always been a problem, even here if there's enough drama going on.Maybe if the anime itself wasn't so mediocre and standard so far we'd have more good posts. Consider contributing if you don't like what you see

1. Everyone watched the Netflix previews and now discussion is dead for 6 weeks. Great plan!
2. Tanuki started off denying she was animal, despite being unable to turn back like everybody else. Now that she can actually turn back, she instantly does a U turn and stays animal all the time. It's like they warped instantly from start to end of an arc, not really understandable.

Yeah agreed, I don't like their setup either. I usually like trigger works even despite their flaws, because of their charm, it usually seems like someone had an idea and was very passionate about it (but somehow lost steam halfway through, and the left the ending be a mess).
