Thoughts on the gauntlet? I won't lie and pretend that I prefer this to the New Japan Rumble, but it turned out a lot more entertaining than expected. Finlay getting a couple of pins was nice, I think they set the stage for which lads are staying in NJPW and which ones are going to Elite out of the B Team, more Best Friends teasing was good but they need to either wrap it up or BREAK them up now, Suzuki Nagata was fun while it lasted, and GBH/Chaos/TaguchiJapan should be cool at Dash.

tl;dr woulda preferred the rumble but this was good, would be 5-6/10 on the actual card but a solid 7/10 to open with.

I really loved the match. Great story telling. Also, I wasn't sure what will happen, even though Kenny is due for contract talks, I still have no idea if there was any pre-agreements or anything. The Jericho and Naito match got me hype again and the Tanahashi Omega match blew away my expectations.

Took a look at the times for each matches, man some of these matches were criminally short and needed to be longer. In particular both Jr. Heavyweight matches, the heavyweight tag match and Okada vs White should have gone on a little longer. Comparing with WK12 and WK11, overall the matches were shorter.

Anyway though I still really enjoyed the show, the best matches being the opener and main event. Golden lovers btfo but they really were the most invested matches. Naito vs Jericho was good, probably Jericho's best match in NJPW since he came back. Okada vs White was good but could have gone longer as I said. Sold more seats, attendance recorded was 38,162 while last year the total attendance was 43,000 but only 34,995 paid to be there, so a lot of free seats or so last year but still a lot for a Thursday show. Probably helped that the show was on a Friday this time, WK10 & WK11 were on weekdays and had like 25,000 while WK8 & WK9 being on weekends got over 35,000. The 2 day event next year is probably done to capitalize on both weekend days. Hopefully that is just for 2020 and doesn't begin a trend, I dont think a 2 day show would work if not on a weekend, also it already seems difficult to fill up the card, personally I wouldn't want to ALWAYS see a 2 day Wrestle Kingdom either, too much really. Wrestlemania would benefit more from a 2 day show than Wrestle Kingdom really.
