Pretty accurate. It had some good ideas, but in general it's more annoying than fun. Imagine you're a kid and you're having fun playing outside, but every two minutes you're called in to do chores. That's what the game feels like, being constantly called to these cabins to fight the same repetitive battle when you'd rather just explore. Well, maybe it'd be fun to explore if the world wasn't so bland, and the controls weren't so shit.

Yeah, the technology fucks Quake pretty hard. Quake is an early full 3D game, Doom is effectively a late 2D game. So, compare the late Genesis games against the early N64 games.
