I'm trying to play YU-NO in NP21 fmgen and I'm noticing that no matter what sound settings I choose (and yes I am using the 86 card), the game outputs YM2203 audio for whatever reason.
I'm playing the CD-ROM version too so I know for a fact this shouldn't be happening.
Any help?

I have no idea as far as the answer to your problem but Yu-No is in my top 10 so I wish you luck.
You could also play the Windows version. The fan translation fixes the shitty audio problem but if you insist on playing it in Japanese I don't really know what to tell you.

I just want to listen to see how much YM2608 sound emulation has improved and to play the game at the speed it was meant to be played at. You see, the Windows port runs really fucking fast even on a Windows 98 VM.

Are you sure? You probably have but never noticed it.
Also, I fixed my issue, it was just an option in the settings menu. Guess the guy who made the .hdi had a 26k card. Fucking dumbass.
