I like the Earthbound halloween hack, be warned though for it is extremely difficult and may require savestates.

In case it slipped by anyone, try Hyper Metroid. Most hacks of SM are okay, but don't really compare to the original too well. Hyper made it hard for me to go back to the regular version because of how smooth it works. It also doesn't require any difficult tricks or exploits.

I'm just waiting for Metroid X Fusion (Reimagining of Metroid Fusion made with the Super Metroid Engine) and Rogue Dawn (vid related) to be finished

Between those two and AM2R, 2016 could be one of the best years for Metroid, despite Nintendo's efforts to kill the franchise.

Somebody post a link to AM2R for future reference, and to spite the motherfuckers.

Yeah, the new Board Owner is pretty based. On the topic of retro ROM hacks, Pokemon Brown definitely. KBM is going to be releasing Pokemon Prism in around Decemberish actually, I'm more hyped for it than I am Gen 7 honestly.

I've heard this in multiple threads, but never seen anyone actually show evidence of such. Honestly I have no clue.

Anyone has had any experience with the Pokered disassembly project? I was thinking about using it in order to learn ASM.

I actually have, and its REALLY powerful stuff, and for the most part, easy for beginners to pick up and try, so long as you use the iimarck.us forums for reference and help. Apparently it is easier to use if you work a Linux, although I used Windows environment with it and it worked just fine. Almost all of it is quite easy, and there is an IRC chat that has a lot of people on at all times who may help with any questions you got. 10/10 Gen 1 hacking has VASTLY improved since it came into existence.

Whats pokemon brown?

And does anyone know a EXTREME pokehack that is difficult, has special/physical split, and is based around gen1 or 2?

Really? Pokemon Brown is one of the most famous ROM Hacks. You gotta try it. Its not /extreme/ in difficulty, although the difficulty IS higher than the older Pokemon Games (slightly higher than, say, Platinum, considered the hardest of the MON games).

Brown is a Pokemon Red hack, has all the good ol Gen 1 muzak and jraphics, and also has some Gen 2 and Gen 4 MONS added into it if you play the updated 2009 or 2012 versions. There is no physical special split, although it is an amazing game and over all objectively one of the best Pokemon ROM hacks. You should play it, especially since the creator is going to release the sequel to it in Decemberish (Pokemon Prism, a Crystal hack)

wait it wasn't 80 it was 90

Dratini evolves into Dragonair at 34 now and then 67 for Dragonite. They're mostly just raised 5 to 15 levels higher for evos but for the fossil ones they went full retard for some reason;

https://github.com/xCrystal/pokecrystal/blob/de30aee/data/evos_attacks.asm

Other than the fossil pokemon evo levels the romhack is pretty great, my only problem is that all the trainers don't have names for some reason.
