I just love great openings to a game, especially in pixel animation. What are your favorites?

You mean just game intros as far as "opening scenes," or actual animated openings?
Wild Arms is great at both, having consistently good animated openings, as well as a really neat way of handling the introduction to the games, wherein the main trio of the older games (or all four characters in WA3) have their own playable prologues, showing what they're doing in the events leading up to the main game, establishing early characterization, and leading up to how they join up for a combined goal. Kind of a shame they stopped doing that after Alter Code F though.

The opening scene to Chrono Trigger is just so nostalgic.

They're really enjoyable in my experiences (might also mention that if you're perhaps the same anon I was speaking to about them in that pickups thread further down the catalog, I did finish those infographics for the series), though WA4 is admittedly probably the weakest in the series. Can't say that I hate that one the ay some people do, but maybe I ought to mention I got my copy of it cheap (since I suppose it's probably easier to get my $15 from it than someone back when it first released wanting to get their $50-60 worth from it).
Wild Arms 3's opening (one variant of it, anyhow; it changes as you progress through the game). I suppose it still fits within the parameters, but it's probably my favorite opening in the series, and an example of a REALLY good English rendition for a JRPG opening. Either SCEA or Squaresoft (who Sony had brought in to translate) made a nice choice on who to sing it out here.

For some reason I really like the opening to SMRPG. It's not even long or complicated.

First time I was left unsupervised near an organ, I couldn't resist playing the opening chords (Omen). That sure woke up the parishioners.
