After exiting the game, it mentions that there was a "hint book" you could order for the game. Those "hint references" are probably the hint numbers you would refer to in the hint book for the part of the game you are currently on.

Can't remember if I did that but my favorite mission was the one with the parade. I'd plant bombs close together along the entire route and then set off a chain that killed almost everyone on the map. Dominoes of Death.

Did old computers with DOS have scanlines in their display?
I thought they used standard PC CRT 31Khz monitors that have no scanlines.

Run start.cmd then type mech2
For multiplayer, type netmech

What general maintenance should be observed to keep a computer's power supply from surging it? Currently I'm just under the impression that any bulging or ancient capacitors should be replaced.

Bumping this thread to share this blog, The CRPG addict:
http://crpgaddict.blogspot.com/
Dude is playing through a master list of old DOS RPGs (later expanded to all computer non-console RPGs). Of course he touches the classics (Ultima, Wizardy) he also stumbles across a few lost gems. I'm entertained as hell reading this and made me think of this board. Didn't seem to deserve it's own thread, though.

It depends on the graphics card inside the PC. CGA ran at 15 KHz, and you could hook up to a normal TV.

I recently tried playing Ultima 2 after I had a fun time with Ultima 1.
Has anyone here finished it without any exploits or any hex editing? Because I was so tempted after I spent several days grinding for who knows how long without making any real progress. Of course, I am speaking of the DOS port of Ultima 2.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play. I just played through Dune 2 as the Atreides. Despite having plenty of dated interface and gameplay aspects, I enjoyed it. Dune 2000 updated the gameplay a lot more (especially the OpenRA version), but I prefer the aesthetics of the original game.
