The electrification timeline explains why the demand is late and why late is not the same as absent. Sales lead, the stock lags, demand tracks the stock. An EV sold today displaces petrol for fifteen years but adds its 2.5 MWh to the meter from day one, a heat pump likewise, so demand climbs one installation at a time and the installations compound. The experiment has a control group. Poland and France are it.
Demand grows where the electron is priced to be used. In practice that means three moves. First, take the policy levies off electricity and put them on gas or general taxation, since taxing the clean carrier to subsidise everything else is the single most self-defeating price signal in European policy, and the six countries that ran the shift in 2025 got a sales turn for it inside twelve months.
